I feel you...got this bizarre email from my daughter's school yesterday saying "recently there have been concerns about cyber-grooming, and we wish to reassure all parents no child at (daugjter's school) has been impacted..."
I thought, if this is the case, why are they sending this email?
Asked my daughter and it turns out the secretary of the school board was busted for having child pornography on his phone and laptop..
tragic bit is this man's daughter goes to the school ...
worse than embarrassing. fucken catastrophic. poor kid ...
 
not to mention the children getting sexually assaulted in his porno collection ...tried to reassure my daughter by suggesting that occasionally guys who watch a lot of porn must accidentally bump into this stuff.
But it must've been bad cos the guy is looking at 15-20 years prison.

As a guy who watches absolutely TONS of porn, I can assure you I've never accidentally bumped into that sort of stuff and anyone that says they have is lying. I reckon it's something you have to actively seek out. The sick fuckers...

Yeah it's really bad ...just been reading about it in the paper. The guy was actually selling child porn, or at least involved in some sort of kiddy porn ring, it seems. It's becoming something of a local scandal.

Btw how is Lapland right now? :)

I'm sure you are right, in the sense that one would have to actively seek out genuine child porn with genuine children.

But on two different occasions with two different men, I've been involved in a Pornohub browsing thing, and spotted definite fake kiddy porn. Like a woman who might be in her early 20s but can pass as a twelve year old, and is clearly supposed to pass as a twelve year old.

When I got indignant about this and said get that shit outta my face please, both guys dismissed it with, "oh, it's not real."

But that aint the point.

Well, in a way it is: obviously it's better if the "12 year old girl" is really 22. But it does seem as though a lot of supposedly "mainstream" porn for straight men actually promotes the sexualization of minors in a rather scandalous way. Like, what's with all the "barely legal" stuff?

btw I am not being sanctimonious about all porn or judgemental about men watching it. It seems to be a universal male thing. Isn't there evidence that men are more responsive to visual stimuli than women for some physiological reason...?

Capitalism exaggerates small differences. It is more socially acceptable for men to watch porn -- rather, to be sexual -- which, on its own, might produce a small difference in the frequency of porn-watching. But because of this difference, more porn is produced for men than for women, which makes the difference larger, and also reinforces the original standard: men who watch porn are normal, women who watch porn are not. (In fact it may even be socially expected for men to watch porn or at least tolerate it; admitting to being grossed out is admitting weakness, and worse, admitting weakness in sex, so you'd better find some way to enjoy that video...)

As a side note, it's often not mentioned how (for me) a female wish to look at porn seems motivated on occasion by a "morbid curiosity" which is less straightforwardly "sexual" than a man popping into Pornohub, knowing what he's after, and equipped with a definite masturbatory plan ...

Another side note: I'm trying to write an essay about porn at the moment, and have come across certain academic texts asserting that "children are sexual beings too". Revered intellectual giants like Michel Foucault protesting against the disavowal of childhood sexuality and claiming that the kiddy porn scare of the 1970s was a repressive "moral panic". Then you've got "boy-lovers" insisting that "children are sexual beings" and have sexual desires, and "transgenerational encounters" are not necessarily damaging or abusive to under-age participants.

So far I think these people are exploiting the childhood curiosity about sex and all things "rude" - trying to say that this curiosity is somehow the same, or very close to, a mature person's sexual urges, when it isn't at all.

Can anyone recall being a little kid and stumbling across their Dad's porn cache? I can - and of course you want to look at it, but not because you want to get off like an older person. This sort of curiosity about sex before you even know there's any such thing as orgasms etc is sometimes misread by, uh, "spokespersons" for "childhood sexuality" as evidence that "children are sexual beings" in a way that's analogous with adult sexual desire.
