7 people Hospitalised after taking "designer" drug

I'm glad, at least, that they've actually named the suspected substance; too often they don't mention the name of the compound which really doesn't help to reduce harm. I've just done a bit of reading about 2C-P and Shulgin talks about just how potent it is and that the need for individual titration is essential with it. The first other news story I found about the drug, coincidentally, also lead to 7 hospitalisations.

2cp is incredibly potent and long lasting, unsurprising if it falls into the hands of reckless people that they might come to harm.

killing off the Irish RC scene clearly helped keep these people from the dangers of Research Chemicals!

I really don't think it helps when the media uses silly names like "Ecstasy-like drug" and "Molly's deadly cousin". 2C-B aside, the 2C- series is fuck all like MDMA and it will only lead to more people injured when they carelessly drop multiple doses expecting such a forgiving DRC as MDMA.

The 2C's can and will fuck you up, P in particular has a massive cardiovascular load and an almost day long duration in which to wreak havoc on your adrenergic and circulatory systems along with 10mg being the range between effective and dead. Anyone stupid enough to drop 2C-P as a solid without access to a highly accurate set of scales will certainly get hurt.

Ah, so it was actually 25I-NBOMe? I wonder if they knew that when they bought it, if they all took the same substance, and where the press got 2C-P from?

My gf knows a few of these people, she was offered some nbome blotters the day before this happened too!! good thing i told her to tell the guy to fuck off!

people distributing 25i-nbome blotters and not telling people what it is are very very wrong and that shit needs to stop.

She was offered it as 2cb too.. soon as she told me it was on blotter i told her to tell the guy to piss off

Hopefully the British ban will deal with this. The substance in question is only in circulation because the precursors are relatively easy to obtain, there is a surplus of the stuff from its days as a 'legal high', and it can be sold as generic 'trips', or even passed off as LSD. The removal of 'safer' alternatives from the legal market will hopefully serve to further discourage such unscrupulous and dangerous duplicity.

Why the fuck would some bellend dealer scum choose the NBOMe series of all things?!
If you're gonna rip people off with shite it actually takes more effort to avoid 1P-LSD/LSZ/AL-LAD/ALD-52 or even the fucking DOx series than it does to seek out Bomamines!

I fear not, unfortunately. A very similar piece of legislation, to the proposed British legislation, has been in force here in Ireland since 2010. In December Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, has come out in favour of decriminalisation of possession. I think the lack of success will be mirrored by the British law.

I know about the Irish laws, but I also know that the supplies were mostly coming in via Britain, if not from Britain. Therefore, decreased availability at source is surely a good thing. As is the decriminalisation of simple possession, at least in the first instance.

Very unlikely. Banning things rarely achieves much and often is counterproductive.

The removal of safer alternatives from the legal market was what created the RC scene in the first place .....
