7-methyltryptamine

I read that this is supposed to have greater potency or affinity to 5ht-5ht2/5ht2a receptors than DOI,LSD,Br-LSD. I know it's available so is it worth a try. Sounds too good for such a simple tryptamine

Hmm I can't seem to find any specific affinity data for HT receptor subtypes, saw some vague information about comparative potency in relation to some other chems, also that it's a rather potent SERT inhibitor? IIRC

Can you perhaps share some of the information you know/read about this chemical?

if it is unsubstituted on the nitrogen or the alpha methyl this material will be chewed up by MAO faster than you can say "pointless waste of time and effort"

I was assuming that the methyl@the 7 pos would act in a similar way to a methyl @the alpha position. But I have no pharm. knowledge so maybe u know more. But I assume you could N-methylate it with L-Me right?

I guess nothing too spectacular can be done with this one then huh? I don't see it going anywhere too interesting with added methyls on the nitrogen or the alpha position either. The only interesting tryptamines that have something substituted on their 7-position that I can find some info on are some beta-carbolines, but that's already quite a leap isn't it? 8)

there was a thread in ADD about 7 substituted tryptamines and the supposed relationship between tryptamine 7 and phenethylamine 4 positions.
Glennon has synthesized some 7 subd tryptamines some of which have reasonable affinity.

ok so anyway... in answer to my question... can someone atleast point me to some HELPFULL info on this(bl's SE is not so great) IE it's reputed to be extremely potent, so in the presence of an maoi like harmaline, would it be a good euphoriant/psychedelic perhaps something like [harmaline+l-Me+7mt] would that be something of some interest>ANY info would be greatly appreciated
