Disclaimer: This is a harm prevention board and I do NOT suggest anyone cooking their medicine this way, look at the IV thread for more information, this method works for me but there is a good chance it will take years off my life so DO NOT do it.
Hey guys, I got my refill a couple of weeks ago and I'm finally getting around to IVing my 60mg MS Contin. However, when I crushed it and stuck it in water it didn't gel up. Does anyone know why it didn't gel up? I usually prep the gels by putting them in water, heating them (I know I know this is bad, however I know someone who is still alive and has been doing this for almost 40 years, and it works really well) to boiling point, moving the top wax layer off the spoon, waiting for it to cool, stick a cotton in, and pull up. At room temperatures the wax returns to wax and I can pull it out with the end of the syringe leaving a thick liquid (I do this with 3 cc of water and I usually end up with 1.25 - 1.5 cc, I then eat the remaining medicine, aka the wax). Anyways, I did my usual, crush the 60mg, put 2 cc of water in it, waited a bit, it didn't gel. So I heated it to boiling, still no gel, waited for it to come down to room temperature STILL no gel. I went ahead and pulled it up and shot it, def not strong, but it still had morphine in it for sure (as I felt it, and I'm even starting to nod).
Anyways, the question is, do you guys know what kind of ER medicine I'm looking at. Is it safer or worst than the regular gel versions? Does anyone have any background with these Rhode MS Contin 60mg?
Thanks.
