Harm Reduction 60mg Hydrocodone+1mg Alprazolam: reassuring my brother

Hey all: my brother decided to dose the above mix about an hour ago. He is pretty high and experiencing that slight panic mode we are mostly all familiar with from opiates. He is opiate tolerant ( 60-80mg daily is standard) and is benzo tolerant at 30mg diazepam a standard dosage. He plugged 30mg hydro, let it come up, chewed 1mg xanax, then ate another 30 mg hydro. He is HR savvy, and hasn't had alcohol or other CNS depressants today. I have been reassuring him that based on his tolerances, hitting the fill 60mg more or less at once and stopping at 1 mg xanax will be fine, but he wants to hear it from others, if he can, because, well, he's a little nervous.

In the interest of harm reduction, since we have been unable to find reliable, comparable dosage info on BL or elsewhere, does anyone have words of wisdom for him on this? He trusts BL and OD, and though he trusts me as well, second opinions are always reassuring.

PS: no signs of OD, breathing difficulties, etc. at all.

He should be fine. His Xanax dose is lower than the dose of diazepam that he normally takes, when considering the conversion, so I see no reason to worry considering his tolerance.
 
^ what I've been telling him. It's funny how experienced users can sometimes just lose confidence in their knowledge. I thinks its healthy, Im glad to see it. It means he's concerned about safet, I guess. He's nodding out happily now and over it. Thanks for your reply.
 
I also think he should be fine. Mixing benzos and opioids is usually only dangerous in people who are not tolerant to either and/or take too high a dose. Your brother is tolerant to both. Alprazolam is roughly 10x stronger than diazepam, so if he normally takes 30mg of diazepam then 1mg of alprazolam should be fine. If he can normally take 60-80mg hydrocodone and he took 60mg + 1mg alprazolam I don't see that as causing a problem, as both dosages were within his usual dosages of opioids/benzos, in fact the aprazolam was only about 1/3 of his usual benzo dose.
