Yesterday I took two 54mg Concertas, chewing one and just swallowing the other. The stimulant effect was mildly to superiorly effective. Now, less than 24 hours later, about 19 hours later, I took three 54mg Concertas, idiotically NOT chewing them this time. I took them about two hours ago and I felt an initial, extremely mild rise in energy and wakefulness, but it plateued, practically disappeared. Now what I'm wondering is, with 162mg of time released methylphenidate in my system should I expect periodic spikes in stimulation? My understanding is that the outter layer contains little to no active chemical to begin with so perhaps my initial wakefulness was placebo and I will still be able to tweak a bit? Keep in mind my tolerance of having taken two 54mg tabs 18 or 19 hours earlier, the effect of which was very strong compared to the barely noticeable, mild effects I now feel, more comparable to a cup of coffee. I hear that per 54mg tab 18mg is released every 3-4 hours. 18mg x 3 = 54mg, so could I still potentially in one hour feel the effects of at least one pill?

Shoulda chewed 'em, I know.

I happen to be prescribed that particular doseage.
from my experience, you tend to not notice any sort of stimulant effect, only the rise in the ability to focus. but you do end up having to deal with a sweaty comedown as they start to wear off.

Yeah I don't know why I didn't chew them like I did the day before because I was insanely productive on just two tablets. I'm waiting for a burst, a release in that second layer since the outer layer only contains 22% of methylphenidate. I even had a double shot of espresso, but I think that just made me sweatier and more jittery. Any recommendations, dread?

You won't get a burst taking them orally. Especially Concerta. You'll just little get a small boost each time the methylphenidate is released. People compare coffee to methylphenidate very often and that's what I compare it to, just with more jitters and side effects. Drinking coffee increases the effects of amphetamines, specifically Adderall so it may increase the effects of methylphenidate. Don't expect a buzz from taking Concerta, just a little extra focus and concentration.

On a side note, I HATE methylphenidate ugh.
