50 Stars: Americans, teach us about your country.

Arkansas is a wonderful little red neck haven right on the runway to tornado alley....Yeeeeee Haaaaaaaaa...........

I recently had occasion to visit Texarkana on business, twice...I didn't get to see much of it. I was flown in, all 'cloak and dagger' like, on a private jet. Texarkana is in the lower west corner of Arkansas. what I noticed from the air, is that arkansas has a shit load of small lakes. A veritable crappie fisherman's heaven. After questioning a local resident, I learned that arkansas is indeed one of the nation's finest fishing destinations. I only wish I had some time to take a more relaxing trip up there and hire a fishing quide.

so here I am, getting ready to depart after concluding my business. Texarkana only has a small municipal airport. They can't land any commercial airliners there. So, I had to come in on the Learjet. at least I didn't have to pay for the liquor.

I went there on vacation when I was younger (camping or log cabins or something)-
I saw my first grass snake there.
I do remember it was very green and lush-
I think Arkansas might be the only state with another states name in it.......?

I've been there a couple of times. Nice lakes and stuff. Never been to Little Rock or Hot Springs, just Conway. The only places in that town you could drink were private clubs. Also had to drive 20 mins up I40 I believe it was to a 'wet' county gas station for brew. :\

States with excessive dry counties suck.
 
I now know a bit more about Arkansas than I used to :).

And that there is a Godspeed You! Black Emperor song named after its capital ;).
 
Rhode Island is the smallest state, and yet has the longest name. The full name is "The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations". Family Guy takes place in RI, and they even have a Drunken Clam (bar in family guy) in Narragansett RI. Nobody knows how to drive in this state.
 
When you say American, do you mean the people living in the North-central part of the continent?

I'm just wondering because if someone said, "Asians, teach us about your country" or "Europeans, teach us about your Country" who would be expected to respond.
 
OK, so it's a pet peeve. A major one because it's a literal misnomer.
