Has there ever been any studies on the binding of 5-MeO-pyr-T?

Quotes from TiHKAL

I felt very nauseous, and threw up in the bathroom several times. I felt drained and sick for the rest of the evening as well as mentally slow.

I was told that at 18 past noon, I was unconscious. Something over an hour later, I started flailing, rolling about, quivering and shaking, and had very constricted pupils

(with 4 mgs, smoking) "This was the free base. I remember the pipe, and the inhalation and, with the pouring of a small glass of scotch, I settled down in front of the TV to watch a re-run of Star Trek. That was it. I came to some time later in the front room of a professional ally of mine, who had by chance discovered me walking down the street near his house. I do not recall, nor have I been able to regain any memories of the time I was 'out there.' I apparently experienced no physical discomfort from the drug. In fact I distinctly remember feeling very comfortable when I awoke. Clearly this compound is some weird-ass shit."

Some of it hints at opiodergic, gabamimetic, psychedelic and even some NMDA-antagonist like effects. I would bet that this would have potential as a novel aneasthetic, having less abuse potential that ketamine or pcp. Probably more that etomidate, though ;)

I doubt it really has that wide of binding effects. 5HT-2a, for sure, possible u-opioid, or more likely kappa opioid. Actually kappa opioid would make the most sense, it'd explain everything- though it'd require one hell of a dose response curve.

Love that last quote!
Maybe the 4-OH would be a bit less of an ass kicking! Though still probably not nice, judging by the unsubstituted one.
No idea whats going on with it, pretty crazy!

Does AcO really make a difference? surely its hydrolysed to quickly, in the stomach at least. guess its probably stable for long enough by other routes.

I wonder why Shulgin never tested mor-T or 5-meo-mor-T.

That one would get a sweet name. Better than GANESHA.

Does anyone think that it's possible these are kappa-agonists? It just doesn't make sense to me as it is- the pyr-T compounds have such unusual presentations as 5HT2a agonists.

I assume he means for the ease of the rider- slow down the activity a bit, you know.

Not sure if it would fit the pharmacophore but seems there are vaguely similar compounds possessing alpha antagonist action.

Search for new antiarrhythmic and hypotensive compounds : Synthesis, antiarrhythmic, antihypertensive, and α-adrenoceptor blocking activity of novel 1-[(2-hydroxy-3-amino)]-propylpyrrolidin-2-one derivatives

Structure attached. Phenylpiperazine's have been known to be 5HT agonist so a vague link (?)

Do you mean over 4-HO? In the "common" 4-substitutes tryptamines, I find that the 4-HO and 4-AcO versions are significantly different from each other in each case, some more than others. Perhaps the AcO does break down into HO in the body, but something about that process causes the subjective effects to differ. Most people who have had extensive experience with a variety of each kind of tryptamine will say that their effects differ. A good example is 4-HO-DMT and 4-AcO-DMT... they are quite different from one another indeed.

I'm mostly familiar with 4-hydroxy and 4-acetoxy-DIPT, and besides length of onset and come down, found little difference.

the 4-aco was smoother, certainly.

4-AcO always appear to be the smoothest as I have seen on related Trypts so i proposed if anything could tame it a little that was the best candidate as potential known substitutions go

Is there anything to support the possibility of a 5-MeO-mor-T being recreational? I know shulgin didn't go further down that road when the pyr-T's turned out to be so unusual, but imho, they seem like the most interesting.
