Can anyone tell me how long 5-meo-dmt will last and the optimal conditions for storage?
I recently purchased a gram of the stuff, and this really isnt the kind of thing I would do too often. This could last me a REALLY long time assuming that it will keep.
Responses are much appreciated.

You can use the answer given in the Beginners FAQ for storing acid. Because the principles are the same, there are only slight variations here and there. For example LSD should not be exposed to UV-radiation (this is naturally present in sunlight and a lot of other types of light). 5-MeO-DMT should be able to endure much more light though it is still not particularly smart to store chemicals in places with light. Phenethylamines like 2C-B or mescaline are very stable but 5-MeO-DMT is still a tryptamine so it does not hold as indefinitely as something like mescaline.

Read the post in the link above. It explains that you need to seal it from air (and the water and oxygen that are in it) and keep it at low temperatures, the longer you want to store it the colder I would store it.
Remember that something like a deepfreeze makes everything attract water from the air which then condensates wherever it can and freezes.

So, put your 5-MeO-DMT in a baggie and try to remove as much air from air pockets in the baggie as you possibly can. Optionally you can put the folded baggie in another baggie which you also manually vacuum and seal, as an extra layer.
Then get a container that you know can be shut air-tight, no leaks! Also get desiccant material. Silica beads are an example, there is also calcium chloride, sodium sulphate and magnesium sulphate. But you can just buy such things as a drying agent product at your local hardware store.
You may want to test if the container is airtight by putting a bunch of desiccant in it, just a layer on the bottom, closing it and putting it in the freezer for a week. The desiccant (drying chemical) should not get wet or soggy.

If you want examples of what I mean by 'container', just google:
- mini mason jar
- minivac
- tightvac

Now if you are all set, take your baggie with your drug and put it in the container. Also add desiccant into the container. I personally make sachets that contain the desiccant, just by using empied teabags. Then it's similar to the silica packets you sometimes get when you buy new things. It should just be in the same enclosed room as the drug, the chemicals should never touch, there have to be layers of baggies and stuff between them.

Close the container and make it tight. If you get mini mason jars like I have, you may want to use tape to wrap that around the lid-handle. That way if someone opens the freezer to get something, the mason jar cannot just accidentally pop open if the lid-handle is flicked.

That's basically the whole story.

You can store almost anything this way, but for some things like most phenethylamines it is simply not necessary. Just keep them dry.
Compounds like 4-HO tryptamines are very sensitive to water for example, so this deserves special attention. They should never be used
in a solution.

If you do everything correctly I don't see why your 5-MeO-DMT shouldn't last at least a year, more likely two or more.
There is no especially weak part of the molecule that makes it unstable, as is the case with 4-xxx-tryptamines. But you can probably get oxidation just like with N,N-DMT. To avoid this keeping it away from oxygen from the air is the most important thing. Consider splitting your stash so that you do not have to expose your entire stash to fresh air when you open the package. Split it into a few smaller ones so that only those need to be opened.

Hopefully everything is answered now!

Wow. Thank you Solipsis, that was a great post. Aint no chemicals goin bad around you ;)

I have 5-MeO-DMT from the year 2000. It has not degraded, discolored, or changed in any perceivable way. I keep it in sealed glass vials, usually frozen.
