I came into possession of 10 pills which I had been informed were MDMA. Five of the pills were X Boxes (http://www.pillreports.com/index.php?page=display_pill&id=9731), and five were thin, hard, blue pills with an out-pressed alien head (http://www.pillreports.com/index.php?page=display_pill&id=9691). After being alerted to the fact that these may contain the research chemical 5-MeO-DiPT, I decided to ingest them anyway after an extensive perusal of the available data on this substance (from Erowid, Bluelight, PillReports, and various internet resources). Making lemonade, if you will.
I decided that I would see what the possibilities are of mixing 5-Meo-DiPT with MDMA, as my first thought was that it would be similar to mixing psilocybin mushrooms or LSD to MDMA because all involve the mixture of a tryptamine and a phenethylamine.
My research on 5-Meo-DiPT lead me to a few key things: it has a very strong stimulant quality, it causes more intense body temperature and heart rate fluctuations than MDMA, it may strongly stimulate the gastrointestinal system causing nausea, stomach cramps, or diarrhea; it may cause euphoria, slight visual disturbances, auditory hallucinations, tactile hallucinations, and strong sexual urges. The street name, “Foxy Methoxy” or just “Foxy”, are derived from the last effect. It also seems to have a rather long duration of effect, and the body load is described as heavy.
This was to be my first experience with Foxy. My history with MDMA, however, is quite extensive; I have had more than my share of meth-y and adulterated pills, as well as quite a few good beans. My feelings on MDMA are quite positive and I had few qualms about mixing it with another drug (unless proven harmful), even though I had not ever done so previously. My hypothesis was as follows:
The longer duration of Foxy necessitated that it should be taken first, followed by the MDMA. Various reports made mention of the fact that Foxy seemed to overpower the MDMA, so I reasoned that taking the Foxy first with the MDMA following after the peak would allow me the full effects of the Foxy; the MDMA then would potentiate the hallucinogenic aspects of the Foxy on the way down from the first trip. Foxy’s stimulant aspect, however, would then be used to potentiate the MDMA and keep one running for longer. The MDMA would also then soften the impact of the negative body load, as my experience with MDMA has shown that I come to the point of no longer even being able to feel my body due to how good it feels.
There was still one effect to consider, however, and that was the potential for gastrointestinal disturbances. MDMA’s stimulant aspect would indeed potentiate that, and I could see how it would be a problem. However, I honestly did not give this too much thought, for the simple reason of: setting. I have never taken MDMA with a group of more than four other people at a time- it’s social, but not club social for me. I know that this makes my MDMA trips different from the majority of other peoples’ trips; however I also felt that this fact would almost entirely eliminate any need to worry about unpleasant body effects. It would just be me, my boyfriend, a couple of close friends (who would only be taking one pill of MDMA each), and keeping it close to home base. No one planned on taking any excess of any drugs; no one was planning on drinking or dancing. It was to be a quite, comfortable, secure setting.
At 6:15 p.m. we decided to take the pills we believed to be 5-MeO-DiPT. Given that we had received them under the impression they were MDMA, we were uncertain as to the amount of active chemical, so we decided to simply ingest them whole, on an empty stomach (we decided, after a review of our experiences that night and a comparison with TiHKAL and other trip reports that the pills probably contained around 10 mgs.). Just as we were taking ours, my friends S and M arrived, as they had decided they wanted to participate in the Foxy adventure as well. I had previously explained to them all of my suspicions as to the true nature of the pills and what my boyfriend and I had planned. They also volunteered to be guinea pigs, and choose to insufflate one pill each at about 15 minutes after we had ingested ours. Both S and M are experienced trippers, and this was not the first research chemical for either of them, as they have both insufflated 2C-B on more than one occasion. S remarked after his insufflations that it “did not hurt” although the drip was “disgusting”.
A good round of pot-smoking commenced (bud- not kine, but bud nonetheless), to help dissuade negative physical feelings on the part of the Foxy testers, and to entertain E and A as they waited to take their MDMA.
Within thirty minutes we had started to feel them, and a short while after us S and M felt the beginnings of the come-up. The thing which I remarked on was how much it reminded me of the come-up on mushrooms. My stomach started gurgling, I was very slightly nauseated, and a sensation of heaviness or drunkenness started to settle over my entire body. I did have much more energy than the usual mushrooms come-up, however. I started noticing slight visual disturbances; rainbows layered over my vision and around the edges of shapes, floral patterns reminiscent of my mushroom trips. I remained lucid and coherent, however, with no mental cloudiness. My only inhibitor at any time was how my body felt.
After roughly an hour (a little before 7:00 p.m.) it was necessary for me to prepare parachutes out of the X Boxes for the two friends, E and A, who had joined us this night for their first MDMA experience ever. I was going to be crushing up the pills and loading them into gel caps, and then drawing all the rest of the powder into a small bump for insufflations. During this time I started noticing that I was having particular difficulty in preparing the parachutes; I knew what I was supposed to be doing and how to do it, however I was having some difficulty in controlling my hands. I was uncertain how much pressure to apply to prevent the pill from flying off the plate, and as I would move the card around through the powder I was unable to tell if I had actually moved it or not due to lines and colors appearing across the plate.
As I was crushing them up I felt mildly disassociated, and sounds seemed to be kind of watery. However I continued what I was doing and continued my conversation with E, A, and O (E’s girlfriend- sober for the night due to illness). I finished E’s, he took it. I started on A’s. As I was just about to crush it I noticed silvery, star-like shimmers twinkling on the back of my hand and fingers. I said “My hands have stars on them,” and pressed down. I made A’s parachute, and as soon as I was relieved of my duties, I moved to the couch.
From there I re-entered with the other Foxy trippers; my boyfriend, S, and M. They had started having more visual disturbances and feelings of disassociation, what they described as “a good trip kinda feeling.” From there my boyfriend and I relaxed on the couch, continuing to smoke marijuana as E and A waited to start coming up. I reclined and watched rainbows and floral patterns flicker across my vision, and continued on in conversation. I made the comment of how Foxy visuals felt like “a cross between acid and mushrooms- the patterns are the same as mushrooms but everything is electrified and rainbowed like acid.” He agreed with me, stating “the chemical feel is there too, but at the same time it just carries all the weight of a tryptamine.”
After about 25 minutes E declared that he felt his MDMA. A thought he had felt the first fluttering of his, but wasn’t sure (E weighs about 100 lbs, A just under twice as much). During this time my boyfriend and I were starting to feel more and more overwhelmed by some of the physical sensations- the drunk-like energy, the decrease in fine muscle control, the increase in tactile sensitivity. I was having rumblings in my stomach and intestines; however none if it was very aggressive or painful and would always pass if I just ignored it. The rainbows were increasing in intensity. It was at about this time that I logged on to PillReports and created a brief report, just a small blip, warning users that these were not MDMA. (I figured that since it was a Saturday night, even if just a couple of people checked and considered my warning before consuming, then I had done all I could for the moment.) As I was trying to type, my biggest difficulties were in controlling my fingers (I could not tell how hard I was pushing the keys or necessarily if I was pushing the right ones- my senses of strength and pressure were distorted). I knew what I was trying to convey, however, and managed to get an intelligible message out once I shooed the rainbows away from the edges of the letters I was typing.
Just as I was finishing up S and M decided that they were going to try to find some MDMA as well, so that they could carry the experiment as far as we were. I had no worries about the two of them leaving as I know their background (HOWEVER, as with any drug, I do not condone this kind of action while under the influence. Know your limits, stay safe.) We parted ways until the end of the night.
At about this time E and A were really starting to feel the full effects of theirs, and my boyfriend and I decided that the peak of the foxy was probably about to start heading off soon. We made parachutes with gel caps out of our X Boxes, and took them around 8:00 p.m. This is what we had been waiting for all night- the Foxy was the research, for psychedelics comparison. The MDMA was for fun (although, of course, mixing the two was research in itself).
It was shortly after this that E declared he wanted to walk over to his apartment (we live in the same apartment complex, just on opposite sides). My boyfriend, E, and A left while I was left alone with O. From there, as I was waiting for the MDMA to come on, I chatted with O (she was reading an entry about MDMA in one of my books, so I was answering questions and filling her in). I started smoking cigarettes as I noticed a tightening in my jaw. However, after I had smoked about 3 cigarettes, I got up and wandered into the kitchen. For some reason I wanted to eat- it was partially due to a very subtle hunger and partially due to the slight nausea and stomach twitching. I got a bag of grapes with seeds, as it was light on the stomach; plus separating all the seeds so as not to crunch on them gave my mouth something to do. However after I had eaten about six or seven of them, I remembered the MDMA parachute and decided that I didn’t want any food to decrease the intensity, so I put them away. From there I went back to relaxing until the fluttering of the MDMA could no longer be just a figment of my imagination.
Just as I had undeniably started to come up, my boyfriend, E, and A returned. After settling back in, I made a comment about how, for some reason, I had been hungry. My boyfriend agreed, confessing that he had snacked on a piece of leftover pizza while at E’s. From there we started discussing how we were coming up, and how enjoyable it felt. E and A were deep into the roll at that point, and having all the classic roll symptoms. My boyfriend and I were enjoying our rolls; particularly how the Foxy potentiated the hallucinogenic aspect- he had far more intense visuals that night than ever before. E decided at one point that he wished to lie on the floor, with his head in between the computer speakers. After doing so, he was so moved that he demanded my boyfriend try the same things, declaring that he would “love it”. My boyfriend agreed to do so, reasoning that the increase in tactile and auditory sensitivity from the Foxy would be intensified so much by the MDMA that he would probably have an even better time of it than E had. He laid down, and the music started. From there he slipped into a kind of trance, eyes open but unseeing, and not responding even when I hovered over his head, taking a picture. When I snapped him out of it, he explained it like this:
“I was lying on the rug, my head between the speakers, when patterns of light and color began cascading across the ceiling. All I could do was watch these patterns form and collide with each other, and examine the intricacies of the visuals. My visuals increased as I became more aware of the music, and less aware of my body. The window blinds began to melt into two, as the ceiling became fully enveloped in ribbons of color. At this point, I started to notice a dark figure jumping around where I must have been laying. It moved around, and then got closer, only to turn out to be my girlfriend. I suddenly was aware of all the noise in the room except the music, and was drawn away from the visuals, and was then part of the room again.”
Here I inquired as to what he had been seeing; after explaining, he looked me in the eye, smiled a little, and asked “Can I go back to that now?”
When it was my turn to lie between the speakers, a slight sense of paranoia suddenly appeared and I wondered just exactly why I was doing this, it was so stereotypical, etc. But it disappeared as I put my head down and the first notes started. With my eyes closed, my entire being seemed to fill up into a deeply purple and orange sphere that was banded with the same floral patterns I had been seeing all night. I allowed myself to float upwards as the music swelled, feeling myself grow bigger and more sphere-like as the sound grew in intensity. At the crash, my existence exploded out into the universe with the music as the bubble popped. With that, I was brought back to the living room with my friends.
From here all four of us were soundly feeling the effects of the MDMA; we conversed, laughed, loved, and everything else that you would expect from four non-raving kids up on MDMA. O made a comment to E about he was going to get sick if he kept kissing her, to which he replied, “That’s the last thing in the world I care about. It feels so good!” A was more than entertained (as we all were at various points) by my two cats.
The only incidence I ever had with any of the gastrointestinal effects was shortly following the speakers. I felt the urge to relieve myself, so I did. After that I had absolutely no more trouble with any physical problems relating to that side effect. When I returned from the bathroom A and my boyfriend were deep in conversation; they were discussing how this night was going to leave a mark for a very long time on A. A, in fact, at many times in the night had felt compelled to get on the phone with friends of his, including ones who had taken “Ecstasy” before. “No, no man, that’s not what it’s like at all. That wasn’t really Ecstasy, it’s nothing like that. Ecstasy is- look, I’m going to have to find you some. I promise, I can’t describe it, but that wasn’t it,” were his words to a close friend, who had described his experience with Ecstasy as leaving him “really messed up” and unable to sleep “until six in the morning” (despite not taking his pill too late in the night).
At one point I felt the need to curl up into a ball and hide my face in the couch, blocking out all light from my eyes. I was not feeling ill or unsociable in any way; it was just an inner urge that I wanted to satisfy. My boyfriend came over, put his arms around me, made sure I didn’t need anything and wasn’t upset, then just lay there with me. With total blackness before my eyes, I relaxed and waited for the closed eye visuals that I assumed would come (as they had been all night). However, for some peculiar reason, there were none. I sent a small, prodding thought out into my head as to why, but could find no reason. So, I continued to just float there on a wave of pure physical pleasure on the couch.
From there we all enjoyed ourselves, until it was very noticeable that all of us were coming down. It was around 10:30 or so, and all A and E could think about were the fact that they had done “nothing, absolutely nothing” for the entire evening and yet it had been the greatest experience they had ever had. Copious amounts of pot smoking had been occurring, and while it was great for dampening the speedy aspect of the Foxy for us (as well as keeping our jaws entertained) it had kind of helped render the other two very overwhelmed and ready to go home once the night was over.
E, A, and O left a short while before 11:00, with E and A still floating over the clouds. It was now, finally being alone for the first time that night, that the two of us saw how powerfully the aphrodisiac quality of Foxy could make itself known. We did start to make love, with all of the explosive force we had studied about; however, we did not have intercourse to the point of orgasm- it simply wasn’t a necessary part of it (I believe this was due to the MDMA- the Foxy excited and intensified our sexual nature, but the MDMA said that the feeling was all we needed). After some time we simply stopped and returned to sitting on the couch, smoking more cigarettes and marijuana. After another length of time (we were still energized due to the Foxy) we finished up where we had left off (this time to orgasm).
A short while after S and M returned from their many adventures that night, and we compared our experiences with Foxy since they had left. The described less visual intensity than either of us had experienced (they only saw the beginnings of movement around edges and only an increase in the richness of colors). They spoke of very few internal complaints, and spoke quite happily of the intensity of music. They had found MDMA as well (one pill each, chewed up and swallowed), however having taken them later than we had they were still going a lot stronger than us. M pulled out a tube containing a number of different nugs of bud he had received from a friend, and we started smoking yet again while just sitting around chatting, listening to music (from here I am going to end comparisons of their experience to ours, as they had also consumed alcohol and insufflated roughly 20 mgs each of oxycodone after leaving our apartment).
S and M left at roughly 1:30 a.m., and from there we retired to the bedroom. Foxy showed its aphrodisiac head one last time before we were simply too tired to stay awake any longer. As we lay in bed, drifting to sleep, I asked my boyfriend one final question: “Did we leave the music on in the living room?” to which his instantaneous reply was, “There isn’t any music playing.”
The next morning all of us marveled in the afterglow; A and E remarked that it was the happiest day they had ever had, just smiling and enjoying life. Both commented on how sleep was effortless, the CEV’s were beautiful, waking up was wonderful, and MDMA was the greatest thing they had ever experienced. A’s remark was that the afterglow was “rolling light”. My boyfriend went to work the next morning while I stayed at home; both of us had experienced mild stomach discomfort that may or may not have been a result of the Foxy (I have ulcers and hence any drug that is taken orally tends to give me issues after words). I also received a phone call from a friend of mine who had also ingested Foxy the night before (unknown to me), although he had taken only the Foxy and nothing else. His comments on it matched my own: there was the beginning of a psychedelic experience, but no break through or gratification; the physical symptoms most definitely resembled mushrooms with the energy remarkably like LSD; and that he would not like to repeat the experience again without MDMA or something similar as the physical aspects made the trip not worth it without some type stronger psychedelic gratification (something to allow a “break though” to another plane). This wonderful surprise “control” experiment was a great relief as to my hypothesis.
It was brought to my attention later that I the pill may have actually contained 2C-B, however upon a review I have decided that is not the case and my original decision of 5-MeO-DiPT is the correct one. A few issues stand out that reinforce my point: the swiftness of onset of effects, the lack of intense visual disturbances (2C-B is described as being one of the most visually active research chemicals); the inability at any point to capture a feeling that could be described as “returning to baseline” (2C-B at lower and medium doses apparently possesses the ability to allow the user to regain total lucidity, it is described as being more “malleable” or “plastic” insofar as controlling the trip); and the news that I had been receiving of many of my friends vomiting from even just one or two of the pills (2C-B rarely causing vomiting at standard doses) and the final issue (for me) being the fact that S and M have experimented with 2C-B and drew few comparisons.
I had a wonderful time with this combination, and I believe it allowed me to walk a good balance between recreational and psychedelic given the nature of the two drugs.
[My personal disclaimer- I in no way condone making stupid choices or breaking the law- know what you’re doing BEFORE you do it-just because it worked for me does not guarantee it will work for you. Stay safe.]

Stay safe.]
