5-Meo-AMT -- First Time -- A Rough Experience..

Long time lurker, first post here....alright....

I have a lot of experience with most drugs outside of Heroin, Crack, Meth.......first time I've used a Research Chemical we grab 5 gel-tabs supposedly containing 8 mg each of 5-MeO-AMT.....I know the kid pretty well and he said he usually snorts 2 at a time, which made me underestimate the drug.

Took 1 tab, 3 hours into it, kinda disappointed, expected a lot more....we take the other 2 pills and empty them out, make up 3 very small lines of these crystals that really scared me just looking at them....I'm used to the look of cocaine/anything else crushed up....we snort them real quick...if you've seen the movie Spun, where when it goes up it hits them right then, that was me in a nutshell.....

I peaked from that point for about 6 hours, which was completely nuts and a different level of intoxication than I've ever been through, the whole night was me realizing how close I was to losing my head and a general 'wow' feeling. Now......we try and sleep around 9....no luck.....last time I saw the clock it said 12:55 pm...wake up at 3 pm....sit around and I feel alright...after about an hour I felt absolutely horrible, and realized I had to be at work (waiting tables) in an hour.

The drive there was so bad, I realized if I were to get into any accident I wouldn't care at all or realize it, it was like I was floating to work. Got there....everyone looked at me like I was this crackhead, I couldn't function whatsoever and had the most depressing/suicidal type thoughts I've ever had (first time thats happened).....left after an hour, got back and smoked a lot of pot til I passed around midnight...

Basically, has anyone else had this kind of trouble after snorting this substance? The day after easily was labeled as the worst of my life....and I am ashamed to admit the amount of drugs I've dabbled with but nothing has ever had this after-effect on me...trust me it permanantly scared me away from RC's for a long time, probably ever.

Any responses would be appreciated, I know I am an idiot for this and wish I had realized it sooner....I read a lot on here before snorting and somehow didnt scare myself away....oh well....also, the duration of the trip, my throat hurt so bad like the crystals had ripped gashes in the back of my throat that I had to swallow half of whatever I had at the time due to the intense pain

Sorry you had such a bad experience, but you really did over do it for a first time. 5-Meo-AMT is a very dose-sensative chemical.. Threshold doses start at 0.5mg, and very heavy doses go upto around 8-10mg. If you took more than one of these 8mg capsules.. you have already pverdone it for a first time.. that is definately why you had a bad time.. Then.. ok, you probably know snorting research chemicals is stupid now, but I must stress, to everyone.. snorting RC's is no joke! This is how some people have died from research chemical overdoses.. snorting them. We know fuck all about the correct snroting doses, and most chemicals work just fine orally. Number three... Driving while on a potent psychedelic when you are having a bad trip.. *slap* You could not only of killed yourself.. but innocent people also.. You are not in the right mindframe to drive when tripping..

I'm not trying to be harsh on you, but afetr all.. This is a harm reduction board.. :) Welcome to Bluelight btw ;)

The exact same thing has happened to me with DPT. It felt like there were little shards of glass cutting my throat (although, I SERIOUSLY doubt there was). My friend complained of the same thing with intranasal DPT and I hadn't told him about my experience. I've also done less pure DPT that did not feel like that on my throat.
 
8 mg tabs of 5-MeO-AMT and this kid says to snort two?!

That's some of the most dangerous drug advice I've heard in a while. Of the few people that do seem to enjoy this chemical, most dabble in the 3mg to 10mg range orally. Snorted is a whole different story.

trust me I was surprised to hear it too (snort 2)...this kid though is a complete speed freak and likes being up for days so I guess I didnt take that into enough consideration
 
glad you`re ok, but you shouldn`t have driven when you were feeling like that. it`s bad enough to kill yourself, but don`t kill anyone else in the process.

i'm glad you posted this here, it will warn the people not to snort or try such high doses of 5-meo-amt if you have no idea what you're getting yourself into. an unwritten rule is never to up the dose with more you've already taken the first time trying out a new substance. it's the dumbest thing to do when you're not experienced and also a no no for experienced users, always wait for the effects to begin or an even better one is to wait for the peak.

you must also know that when you take something oral it has much weaker effects as when snorted (nearly all the time) or smoked. you already took 8 mg oral, but still you decide to snort 16 mg on top of that. foolish, but all i can say is to learn from your mistakes and please take care in what you do to yourself. this is what bluelight is for, harm reduction and providing information. it's an excellent site to gain knowledge on almost all substances, i hope to see you post more in the near future !! welcome to bluelight !!:)

I've found AMT and 5-MeO-AMT both to be rather lite trips which last way longer than they're welcome in my synapses... Disappointing, to say the least.

That said, if you really got nothing else at your disposal but alpha-o -- not even nutmeg -- and you really, really need to trip and don't mind staying up for 24+ hours, INGEST:

==5-10mg -- for mild stimulation and social interaction

==15-20mg -- for a more headdy trip, with CEVs and OEVs; don't plan on going to work the next day -- this trip lasts a solid 18-24 hours

==20mg+ -- be careful! I've noticed some vasoconstrictive effects (tingling/pins-and-needles) at the end of every one of my trips on this shit, and this may be an unwanted side-effect @ higher doseages.

Notes on Effects:
There's a slow build to the peak @ T+3 hours.

At some point coming up, there's a somewhat toxic feel to the trip. This shortly goes away....

The peak lasts ~9 hours.

CEVs proliferate during the peak; they're random and nothing thought-provoking/enlightening.

OEVs are similar to mushrooms and foxy, though not as intense.

Coming down can take forever -- 8+ hours. Drinking booze or taking downers will only mask the effects of the drug; they will still be there and your sleep will be quite restless.

You might want to try taking 100mg of niacin to try to terminate the trip.

This stuff is better put to use as a stimulant for all those long nights you gotta spend up writing term papers and essays. 3-5mg would be a good ammount for this activity.

5-Meo-AMT might be like AMT in the way that some people require what might be "heroic doses" to other people. This is a good reason to always start low.. If 6mg, which should get some people tripping pretty hard, you aren't getting effects.. Try upping by a couple mg.. it is very dose sensative.. You don't wanna be trying 20mg+ for any first time.. Hey.. you could even die,.. it's a research chemical afterall. Be careful with this one, it is not harmless and a dodgey hiogh isn't worth your life.
 
i'm sorry for not agreeing with you thegreenphantom, but the doses you gave are insanely high !! the doses given by shulgin are enough, beyond that is asking for trouble. everybody's body chemistry varies and everyone reacts differently to chemicals. but, 5-meo-amt is a problem child when it comes to finding a right dosage. 4 mg was enough to be a full blown 3+ trip (for me), the second time i used it it was around the 2.5 mg level and it was almost nothing, had some patterning and a bit of a head fuck but for the rest nothing special. please be careful and please don't take the doses given by thegreenphantom for a guideline for tripping on 5-meo-amt. start off very, very low, under the 5 mg. it is as splatt said very dose sensitive, adding a mg or two might be too much for someone. be very careful with this chemical everyone !! don't want to see any od reports around here !!:(

Good advice. Certain substances like this one seem to promote a higher degree of "hardheadism", but a newbie taking 15-20mg his/her first time will most likely have a very difficult experience.

I have not tried 5-MeO-AMT but I have tried AMT, and even at *only* 25mg I found this to be far from a "light trip". Visually and mentally it was similar to 100ug or so of LSD, with a bit less profound depth to the experience, but a bit more of a body high and much more body load.

Glowing 5-MeO-AMT experiences are the exception, not the norm. Start low (like 2 or 3 mg, for some people that's all you need!)
 
ugh........the first and only time i did amt......i puked alot for the first half hour......after that it was intense and pretty fun, but it lasted entirely way too long. i wouldn't do it again. just personal opinion. i dont like the duration.

buckeyekeel is my boy i wasnt flamin him, even though he is a god damn flamer :) actaully i did the 5-meo-amt with him and tell u guys first hand it was as nuts as he says, and can 100 percent agree with his analogy to the movie spun, which makes me wonder if one day there will be a movie bout people who do research chemicals and have a chemist cookin em up and everything LOL

I also have to say that visually and mentally this drug is nothing like acid, not even close, research chemicals are a completely different trip, the way me n my friends see it is like this, acid was created correctly for human consumption and research chemicals just arent quite there yet, as while im on acid i feel good, and while on 5-meo-amt i wasnt sure what the fuck was goin on with my body, also on acid my head stays pretty clear, this is not the case with 5-meo-amt
 
I have tried 5-MeO-AMT twice. It was totally nuts both times, but also very clear-headed. Some people I know who have also taken this nasty, toxic junk got really sick from it and almost lost their shit. And no one did over 6 mg's.

I don't feel that this stuff has much, if any street potential. As mentioned above, it is very dose sensitive and rather difficult to measure. I know for a fact that this stuff has been sold on the street as "acid". It's funny that some people actually believe that line of crap.

I read several reports on Erowid relating the visuals to LSD or shrooms, so apperently there is some similarity. I'm interested to find out some time.
 
I have also read reports on erowid regarding the psychedelic effects of 5-MeO-AMT. From my experience, the visuals from the Alpha-O were way stronger than any amount of LSD or 4-HO-DMT I've ever consumed... But I could handle it alot better. Also, anyone who's got half a brain knows that once you have been tripping pretty solid for 12 hours, it's obviously not LSD.
 
I'm sure there is a fir few people that have tripped 12 hours solid from LSD without redosing. Potent acid does still exist.... kind of :)
 
I've tripped at least 12 hours from 4 hits of blotter. If it wasn't LSD, I still haven't figured out what the hell else it could have been. It didn't make my stomache sick at all, and my "head trip" was much stronger as well, not just the visuals. So it lacked 2 commonly reported characteristics of 5-meo-AMT.
 
I have a friend who snorted 100mg of 5-MeO-AMT and ended up in a coma. He had hallucinations for several days and heard evil laughters in his ears when he went to bed. I think he still visists a psychatrist regulary.
