Hi, Is this drug illegal in the united states? Im just curious because it seems like a super potent (and super neurotoxic) SSRA and was popular for a number of overdoses in europe (according to erowid) but failed to really make its mark on the scene hence no schedule, however it may fall under the United States' FAA

4-MTA is unscheduled in the United States. It is possible that it could be considered an analog (of 4-methoxy-Amphetamine), in which case, sales for human consumption or possession with the intent to ingest could be prosecuted under the Federal Analogue Act though we are unaware of any such existing cases (6/21/04). [From Erowid]

Its a schedule I drug in Wisconsin

Careful with that. It's an MAOI, so you can't mix it with many other drugs.

BTW I was under the impression that it was non-neurotoxic. 4-MTA is like the non-neurotoxic alternative to MDMA, right?

And it is quite illegal. It's an analog of PMA, a Schedule 1 hallucinogen in the U.S.
