4-HO-DiPT experience - Oh. Dear. God.

Wow.

I'm not even sure where to begin. First, let me couch this (probably brief) report with a little background:

I am currently experiencing withdrawl (somewhat unpleasent and painful) from antidepressent drugs... Was taking Citalopram and Bupropion. If you don't know what these things are, you don't need to know. Anyhow, I was worried that I would be more sensitive to psychedelics, as sort of a rebound effect from the psychedelic-numbingness of the antidepressants.

However, a previous 2C-I experience from last week left me not worrying.. No especial sensitivity was noted, and a simply gorgeous time was had by all (now THERE'S a chemical that's gonna be illegal soon.. great stuff).

So yeah - I acquired some pharmaceutical grade 4-HO-DiPT. I measured out 14 mgs on my 2mg scale (measuring many times over to assure accuracy; I've read a lot about the dose-dependant nature of this substance) and ingested it at approx. 3:40 PM, and the notes detail the following..

3:40PM - Liftoff. ~14mg ingested
3:55PM - STRONG effects noted. Visual, very interesting. Breathing, umm.. tactile feels a bit wierd too. Gonna go read some more erowid

A few minutes afterward, I had kind of bad chills, so I decided to go lay in bed for a while and warm up.

I spent the next 2 hours in a completely different universe many times removed and many layers deeper within than anything I have ever experienced. I was literally shaken to my core by the intensity and overwhelmingness of this experience... I imagine that I would have been quite unresponsive if anyone attempted to roust me.

The trip itself? I'm still trying to parse it all to myself.. I will however say that the chemical has a raw strength to it - at least for me - that I have not encountered with most other substances. Well, save for lsd

This trip may be repeated in a 6-8 weeks... I want to make sure my chemistry is back to normal. I was expecting something somewhat recreational and instead was treated to a whole new world.

This whole article sounds about as cheesy as a chunk of limburger, but it's as best as I could put it right now and I figured it would serve as a good example of starting with a low dose I figured 14mg wouldn't be anything too much - and boy was I wrong.

Wow, sounds like you had one of the strongest and most profound 4-HO-DiPT trips I've heard of. I hope you come back once the details have coalesced for you... any revelations? How does it compare to other tryptamines you've tried... any badass visuals?

weird. i did 20mg of the stuff once and found it pretty boring. jelly legs and chills, and confusion... glad you found it to be so rewarding.

yeah man, I did as much as 40 mgs and found it nice but otherwise unremarkable. But if it worked for you, great. Just be extra careful for dosages as you seem to have, even if momentarily due to the antidepressant withdrawal, a greater sensitivity to this compound....

I also took 14 mg of 4-Ho-DiPT recently and it BLEW me apart. I sure don't consider it a "reacreation prone" tryptamine. Remarkable chemical. Nice report!

Almost every time I have tried 4-AcO-diPT (i've not done HO per se) it's been a different trip. Unlike other compounds, which seem to be much more similar every time.

4-AcO-DiPT is a little less potent than 4-Ho-DiPT. And though I have yet to try the acetoxy version myself, I have feeling they are different. The reports sure make them sound different. And second hand information from a friend suggest the effects are "similar but definitely different." He preferred the "Ho" version over the "AcO" version.

Hey all.. a little followup to my original post

Well I'm glad my trip proved interesting to all of you psychonauts - I want to personally thank each and every one of you for contributing to this forum with it's harm-reduction aim (right?). The safe use ethic that is pushed here is the most modern and in my opinion the most cognizant idea with respect to drug use yet.

Anyhow.

A few days have passed, and I have recoverd. I was fully down at t+3 hours, and dead sober by 3:45. As far as my experience with other psycheleics.. I have done acid some 6 or 7 times over the years, mushrooms on a number of occasons.. although no tryptamines within the last 4 years at least.

Recently, I had acquired some 2C-I, and have made good use of it since. But this, my peers; this was something extra-ordinary. Nothing like this experience ever happened to me on lsd even..

While most of these realizations aren't new, they have tied themselves together anew for me..

In short, there is God (whatever you define it as). God is present in the form of conciousness in every living thing. From mammalian conciousness like our own (looking at brain stucture and behavior, it's pretty obvious that most mammals are 'with it'.. concious, thinking creatures just like ourselves) to even a single blade of grass... or even bacteria. It's all powered by this 'force'.

Now, granted I am a scientist. But science is empirical and therefore what cannot be measured does not exist.. Or it's at least out of the domain of science. But God (or your soul or force or whatever) IS there.. just as the symptom of fire is smoke, the symptom of conciousness is the soul. Even though we cannot measure it, it's blatently apparent. If you have all the pieces of a life form and jam them together, they don't work. If something dies, it cannot be re-animated. Not without the soul.

The behaviorists might have you believe that the way we act is just the way we learn to react to the environment. Of course, to them, the brain is a 'black box'...

Also, I realized how wonderful religion, specifically my religion is . For all the horrible things done in the name of religion and all the problems it causes, I recognize how important it really was / is to our survival.

Thousands of years ago, when you're living in the desert and wondering where your next meal is going to come from, it's a luxury to be able to act civil. So the beauty is that a book was created with right ways of thinking and acting; the right way to treat yourself, your family, others, the land.. A moral standard and clarity that worked within the environment and resources that were available. The kosher laws.. the laws on slavery and war.. the sabbath.. the family structure and punishments for such things as adultery...

It's awfully hard to put down quite in words the meaningfulness of what I realized or even properly convey how the thoughts worked out.. but I was just noticing this thread has gotten a few views so I figured I'd write some rambling followup.

If I hadn't tripped out before in the past I wouldn't have know WHAT the fuck what going on

Way off the fucking hook. I still can't explain how this chemical had me by the short hairs like this. I've never dived THAt deep into the psychedelic experience, but 3 geltabs of acid does take one out there.. but as spaced out as I was on the acid, I was still in this universe; indeed, still on our planet earth, just some dude on drugs.

With the 4-ho-dipt, I was out of this universe alltogether.. one that I suspect is deep inside me. One could think of the human mind as a universe.. but that's a whole other rant for a whole other thread. It was fascinating how my self and our 'consensus' reality slowly pieced itself back together over from what I approximate to be from T+1:45 to T+2:00. Imagine a jigsaw puzzle with an infinite more pieces and in 4 dimensions (maybe 5). The pieces are small, but each one is distinctly different and will only fir a certain way. Slowly, like watching a video of somebody putting TOGETHER a jigsaw puzzy (in 2D or whatever), the reality as we are sharing it pieced itself back together. There were also blobs of conciousness that floated up and flowed together quicker..

Imagine a bunch of different weight liquids, some polar, some non polar, etc.. mixed together so they formed various layers floating in an aquarium of some sort. The "Me" coming back was like little consistant bubbles flowing from the bottom like you see in a fish tank.. but there were occasional larger bubbles that disrupted the membrane of the various layers and making them 'mix' temporarily before settling back into their layers. I really need to remember to use the post reply function and not this damn quick reply box...

Anyhow, I won't be messing with with said chemical for a while.. although as the time since 0 hour lengthens, it sets in more what I saw and what it pertains to. I'll definetly be trying this again sometime in the future.. maybe 6mg to start out :D

4 ho dipt is something, but in a subtle way. it doesnt even resemble being overwhelming at the 28mg dose except POSSIBLY during the first 45 minutes.

I wonder if we are seeing issues (again) of chemicals being sold as something they are not, or purity issues. I know some sulfur-containing phenethylamines are erratic in effect. But the tryptamines seem to be less so.

Two people now talking about taking 28 mg and 40 mg and feeling little. That just doesn't sound right. Yet Shulgin found 20 mg to be a more-than-effective dose, as do I.

I can in no, way, shape, or form call the dosages of 4-Ho-DiPT that I've tried (14 mg, 20 mg, 22 mg, and 24 mg) subtle.

thanks for the follow ups TheMMT, glad you decided to post them, your report didn't seem to be "complete" the first time i browsed through it. i'd have to say that this all sounds very intrigueing now, i'm more interested in 4-ho-dipt as ever, although one of my friends doesn't know what the big deal is, he thinks it's something like mushrooms (told him a thousand times, but he won't listen to me) and thus has no interest in it, my other friends don't even know what it is and does, sadly..

maybe 4-HO-DiPT has a dosage response curve which doesn't add much effect when adding more to high doses?

it is possible that their is great difference between 15 and 25 mg, but little difference between 25 and 35.

But I don't know, i just know it is possible with some substances (as is the opposite too)

I find the properties of iprocin to change at higher dosages. With dosages at 20 mg or under, the drug resembles (for me) how Shulgin described in in TIHKAL. Above 20 mg, it becomes something a bit better. Seem to take longer to hit and lasts longer too. Highest I've gone with iprocin is 24 mg.

My first time with Iprocin was at 15mgs, and I was pleasantly surprised at the intensity, as I thought this would be a "light" first experiment. My trip report for this one is on Erowid under the name "sepulfreak." My next Iprocin trip was at around 25mgs, and that was much stronger, though there were some other people around me that sort of numbed the experience. I believe this is a chemical that is best done with minimal people around.
