Today I'm going to be foolish for a while.
Spend some time
only thinking about the beginnings
and not the endings.
The reunions after long absence
Things that have been too long in coming.

I'm going to send my thoughts to an attic
under stars that someone else painted.
Be unconfused
for maybe ninety minutes at a time.
Conquer the world
and not lose my life ten minutes later
in the falling action.

Tonight, I'll unpack my bags
from two weeks on the road.
Shine up my work-day self
and contemplate the beauty
in making another person feel content
for three days running.

I swear you are so important. Nothing you do is pointless.
