One of the only RC banned in Canada and he had to sell this one....

I know this is in french, let's see if the google translation works:

There is a little over a year, the judge first recognized Patrice Genest guilty of having managed a large sales network Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV), a synthetic drug known as "bath salts" .

(Quebec) Patrice Genest Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, first convicted in Canada for trafficking MDPV, a powerful chemical drugs as cocaine, gets a heavy sentence of eight years in prison.

There is a little over a year, Christine Gosselin judge acknowledged the 37 year old man guilty of having managed a large sales network Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV), a synthetic drug known as salts bath.

While the substance was not on the list of drugs Health Canada Genest and his associates sold during a year of significant quantities of hard drugs in the regions of Quebec, Saguenay, the North Shore and New Brunswick.

Counsel for the Crown e Sandra M Rioux was able to demonstrate by evidence that police Patrice Genest had continued to sell MDPV after the possession and trafficking of the substance had been criminalized.

During the seven weeks of traffic group Genest has elapsed up to 21 kilograms revenues of nearly $ 300,000. The network became indispensable to the point of alienating bikers who control drug trafficking, said the judge's decision.

The expert from the Crown, neuropsychopharmacologue Claude Rouillard, testified that MDPV is a drug 10 times more potent than cocaine and has a greater potential to create addiction.

Patrice Genest was aware of the danger of the product, said the judge, and also recommended its customers to take one-half tablet of MDPV.

Drug available

This drug is four times cheaper than cocaine and therefore very accessible for young customers, adds Christine Gosselin judge in his decision on punishment.

The MDPV made headlines in 2012 when a Florida man addicted to this chemical drug had devoured the face of another individual, along a highway.

When confronted with his crimes, Patrice Genest, talkative and confident, demonstrated an astonishing shocking that pride, says Gosselin judge.

Upon his arrest, Genest informed police that his accomplice was to invent new recipes drug made from still legal substances. "He always boasted ahead Health Canada, the legislature and the police, writes J. Gosselin. We are in the presence of an individual who shows no scruple to market a product which he knows little harm to its monetary aspirations are met. "

Patrice Genest was sentenced to eight years in prison, the exact suggestion of the Crown, a sentence which must be deducted 16 months time served since his arrest in January 2013.

Court of appeal

Genest, who has a history of trafficking and possession of drugs, has already borne the judgment of conviction to the Court of Appeal.

The chemist who, according to the lawsuit, supplied the network Genest, Philippe Gauthier, is before the courts in Sherbrooke, while the main seller, Sébastien Chantal, also faces justice in Quebec.

DEFINITION

MDPV: the Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV) is a synthetic drug which appeared on the market around 2010 and became illegal 21 September 2012 Sold in tablet or powder, MDPV is a psychostimulant such as methamphetamine or cocaine. . The use of this drug to the variable toxicity often leads to serious health problems such as heart failure, psychosis, panic attacks and hallucinations.

My opinion on this, look at the guy, does he look like a threat to society unlike the fucking bikers problem we have since advitam eternam ? Sure MDPV is apparently like Ritalin snorted x20, same with the comedown, it's a yucky substance, but 8 fucking years ?

he probably would have got more time if it was meth, wouldnt he?

from all accounts ive heard mdpv is extremely fiendish and addicting, and shitty in terms of comedown/sides..

depends on the quantity, but I know somebody who got caught with 250 meth pills and he was let go after 6 months and a probation. I think the repeat offender thing is what caused this. This is Canada afterall, where Nick Sand got 4 years of prison for making millions of doses LSD and a couple derivatives, LSB and another.

The quantity involved was enormous but they made all these outlandish claims about the substance. They were probably trying to make an example of him to show that banned research chemicals are taken seriously in Canada.

-not a bad translation btw

>The network became indispensable to the point of alienating bikers who control drug trafficking, said the judge's decision.

Also probably the judge is in on it with the Hell's (a very common occurence for politicians and all supposed rank-and-file public servants in Quebec) and they didn't like losing their market of (mostly) shitty cocaine and meth pills to that guy and his friends.

Here's a 2nd translation if you want:

A little more than a year ago, judge Christine Gosselin had acknowledged the guilty 37-year-old man to have managed an large MDPV trafficking ring, a synthetic drug also known under the name of salts of bath (or bath salts).

Patrice Genest and his partners had allegedly sold significant quantities of MDPV for at least a year in the regions of Quebec, Saguenay, the North-Coast, and New Brunswick before it was scheduled in 2012 and thus made illegal.

Crown Prosecutor Miss Sandra Rioux succeeded in showing police proof that Patrice Genest had continued trafficking of MDPV after it became a controlled substance.

During the seven weeks of trafficking as a controlled substance, Genest's trafficking ring sold up to 21 kilograms ($300,000 street value). The drug network had become so popular so as to annoy the bikers - possibly the Hells Angels - who usually control the traffic of drugs in the area, which was noted by the judge.

The expert of the Crown, the neuropsychopharmacologist Claude Rouillard, testified that MDPV is a narcotic 10 times more powerful than coke and has a bigger potential to cause addiction.

Patrice Genest was aware of the dangers of his product, underlines the judge, and recommended to his customers to take only a half tablet of MDPV.

DRUG ACCESSIBILITY:

This narcotic is four times cheaper than coke and therefore very approachable for young customers, adds the judge Christine Gosselin in her decision.

MDPV made headlines in 2012 when a man in Florida who was high on it allegedly devoured the face of another individual, along a freeway.

When confronted with his offences, Patrice Genest, voluble and confident, was prideful to the point that it creeped out the judge.

During his arrest, Genest informed the policemen that his accomplice was to invent new recipes of narcotics fabricated from still lawful substances.

"He always bragged to outstrip Health Canada, the legislator and the policemen, writes judge Gosselin. We are in the presence of an individual who shows no scruple to put a potentially dangerous RC (research chemical) on the market without regard for the health of the end users, as long as it makes him a lot of money."

Patrice Genest was sentenced to eight years in prison, which was the exact amount suggested by the Crown, a sentence from which it is necessary to deduct 16 months of imprisonment purged since his arrest in January, 2013.

PRIOR CONVICTIONS:

Genest, which has prior convictions in trafficking of drugs, had already pleaded guilty before being handed the 8-year prison sentence by the judge. Brilliant man.

Phillippe Gauthier, who is Genest's chemist, is due to appear in court in Sherbrooke, while Genest's main dealer Sebastian Chantal also is to appear and face justice somewhere in Quebec.

DEFINITION:

MDPV is a synthetic stimulant which appeared on the market by 2010 and that became illegal on September 21st, 2012 (in Canada at least). Sold in powder or tablet form, MDPV is a psychostimulant with effects similar to amphetamines and cocaine. The consumption of this drug may result in serious health problems, such as heart failures, psychosis, panic attacks and hallucinations.

Funny how the article misrepresents the toxicity data, at least as I understand it, on MDPV (although I do hate this drug personally). What's new...

How far free internet translation services have come! :)

'Bath salts' trafficker handed record 8-year sentence
CBC
July 24th, 2014

A man from the Quebec City region has been sentenced to a record eight years in prison for producing and trafficking a notorious drug called "bath salts."

Methylenedioxypyrovalerone — also known as MDPV — has only been illegal since the fall of 2012.

Yesterday, Patrice Genest, 37, received the harshest sentence ever handed to a Canadian for an offence related to this drug.

Police describe the amphetamine-based powder as being 10 times more powerful than cocaine, sometimes causing hallucinations and violent behaviour.

A judge found Christine Gosselin guilty last year of running a trafficking network out of Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval that spanned the Quebec City and Saguenay regions.

Hi,

Sorry to come out of nowhere but I was googling about this and came to this bluelight thread.

A friend my friend's parrot is currently the chemist involved in this new. I would like to point out that the Judge Gosselin is an ancient Road Security judge and had been chosen to this case which is kind a wierd on the first place.

Also, the trial was maintly moving around the dealer who accepted to testimony againts Genest for a sentence reduction. The defense had also a 'prenium paper' from a Access to Information request between 3 Health Canada representatives emailing themself regarding the toxicity of the MDPV. It's funny because during the email correspondance between the health canada representative, one of them pointed out that MDPV is more close to pyrovalerone ( Schedule IV ) than cathione or amphetamine class and the actual data of MDPV toxicity was going in the same way. In the first draft of the law, they weren't suposse to criminalize the personnal possesion of the substance, but the canadian legislator ( who is in fact a private entity paid by governement to write law under the nose of citizien ) have been pushed to put MDPV in Schedule I . When the defence lawyer bring that proof to the trial, the judge completly refused to accept that evidence even if it was a legal matter that may have been affected the final result of the trial

Also, when the appeal memory was given to the appeal court, this trial had 25 majors legislative mistake. It really suck for this guy, but I do believe that the appeal will be a less more harsh than the current 8 years blow.

As for the chemist, the guy is currently prosecuted for ' helping or assisting an individual or a group of indiviual in the realisation of a terrorist activity ' .... Yeah lol
An undercover cop ask to him if it was possible to mix mercury salt with other random chemical to make a disposable toxin that may pass the pore of the skin. The guy explain his idea regarding this question openly but it seems that it's enough to bring that to the court as a proof of intent. So be aware while talking about sensitive matter to ' stranger ' in public places

So you or your friend are/is an MDPV manufacturer? You misspelled parrot.....

That is some interesting information although it is somewhat confusing because of the way it was written. So they used entrapment on the guy to get him on terrorism charges?

The main reason for this charge was to allow law enforcement to get a warrant against the chemist. It's a common tactic to get a bullshit warrant that may allow an investigation to go further once all the goods ( computer, tools, chemical, all kind of papers ) are in the hand of the police.

An important point that won't be mentionned anywhere is that the actual law enforcement group that was investigating the chemist ( Esquade Régional Mixte de l'Estrie ) have been dismissed of duty the following year. The executives of this law enforcement group were aware that it was their last year of operation and they spent between 1.3 to 1.5 Million only on the chemist in all sort of investigation cost. I do believe that if the nature of the investigation was other that a possible ' terror chemist ' the fund allowed to the investigation would not be as high.

I'm not sure if the actual proofs are enough to get a successfull trial against the chemist.

Sorry for my bad english

the canadian legislator ( who is in fact a private entity paid by governement to write law under the nose of citizien )

Yeah that's bullshit, but what's even more bullshit is that they got the chemist through asking him vague chemical weaponry questions somewhere? Maybe at a bar while drunk some underpants cops asked him those things and then it was enough to get inside the place where he cooked the MDPV.

Both things are fucking enraging.

That's very interesting, Finady. What a sleazy way to set up the chemist. By all rights he will be acquitted.

Long live the underground chemists of the world. <3

Hi finady,

I am not surprised at all by this story, as I was burnt in a similar manner a few years ago.

I don't know what to say other than that it has become painfully clear that fascism is the means by which our politicians and bureaucrats seem to serve the public when they see no just and proper way of serving and obtaining their own self-interests, regardless of how many innocent lives this treacherous behavior might indirectly affect.

It is the very reason I find it very difficult to justify voting anymore. It is the very reason why I don't trust law enforcement anymore. And it is certainly the very reason why I plainly don't give a shit about the possible legal consequences of consuming whatever substance I wish without their permission slip. Who the fuck do they think they are locking up people for smoking parts of a plant? Seriously? If my nanny state cares that much about me, why don't they also wipe my ass?

Sadly, I see no way to remove this parasitic filth which has penetrated all levels of government and law enforcement in Canada without causing an unthinkable amount of death and destruction to innocent bystanders, and especially while Uncle Sam continues to call the shots, because that's how it is (we're a pet on a tight leash to Sammy).

Control: the stereotypical politician's (very hardcore) addiction.
