So I've posted here before. Last time looking for support on quitting an oxycodone addiction. To say the least I became a statistic, or a cliche you might say and went down the rabbit hole of heroin. All the way to the point i was shooting it from October 2015 - Jan 2016. Couldn't do it any longer and decided once again to quit. I realized I just couldn't do it cold turkey so I stacked up on suboxone 8mg sublingual strips and started a tapering process. Started with a whole strip on day one and on the last day (yesterday 9am February 13th) was only taking a piece of a piece basically. I couldn't tell you the dosage but it was a very very small piece. So now it has been 37 hours without a dose and of course because of the half life I feel fine, but does anyone have an idea of what to expect here in the next few days? I have been on suboxone for a total of 23 days. If anyone can shed some light that would be great. Thank you.

How much suboxone were you on? The half life is 36 hours, so give or take a day, you may start to feel withdrawls, 23 days is short term but it depends on how much you were on over that time period.

I started on a WHOLE 8mg strip. Then all the way down to the slither in 23 days. Roughly 53 hours since last dose of sub. Only feel anxiety, which I even felt on the sub.

Wow 1 sub in 23 days, you should be fine. You may want to look up paws, post acute withdrawl and treat symptomatically, if need be, best to ya!!

No no no no I started out my first day with 8mg never went higher then 8mg. Tapered from 8mg all the way down to a slither, but of course it took more than 1 suboxone.

^Oh my, I gotcha now, it's so hard behind screen sometimes ya know, anyhow, so you been mostly on 8mg you probably have some stacked up in your system, I would say by day 5 or thereabout, be experiencing some withdrawl, may last over a week or so, you really haven't been on it too long, so I don't think it should be unbearable, have you ever looked up the Thomas recipe, I would try get some otc comfort meds maybe, but I seriously think and hope it won't be too bad, hopefully someone else will pop in and offer words of wisdom, fondly, bono

Highest dose I took was 8mg for first 2-3 days then, 4mg for a week then,2 mg a couple days then, cut the 2mg pieces I had left into fours and took those for a couple days. Then jumped. Tomorrow morning will be 72 hours. So let's say my last dose was 0.5mg if I were giving an educated guess

Honestly its going to suck but that's just how opiate withdrawal goes. The suboxone will spread the intensity over a little longer time line. But you will feel better in 5 days. Don't panic get some comfort meds if possible. Benzos, gabapentin, muscle relaxer, over the counter pain relievers, and clonidine are the best. Mix and match with what you can find. Hitting up a walk in the box doctor for meds isn't a bad idea.

Suboxone withdrawal lasts awhile, however it is not as intense as a cold turkey heroin or morphine withdrawal. You tapered which is an excellent thing. You also only used it for a month which is an amazing thing as well... You have successfully limited your withdrawals.

I think the two worst symptoms you will experience are going to be sleeplessness and anxiety. These can both be combated with some benzos or gabapentin. Just remember that around the thirty and sixty day marks you may experience a resurgence in PAWS and need a little extra support.

Do you have a support network? Do you have a plan for if you cave and end up using?

How you doing johhnyblues? If things get crazy bad don't be afraid to take a little loperamide. Even low doses will take the edge off a bit.

Hey there, I'm 25 days off suboxone and klonopin and perc 30s. I was taking 8mg subs along with 3mg klonipin for nearly 3 years. I tapered the sub down to 2mg before entering detox at a inpatient treatment center. I was taking the percs in between certain days when I wasnt on subs (usually on weekends). The kpin I mainly took my prescribed dose of 3mg a day sometimes 5mg. They detoxed me with phenobarbital and clonadine for 10 days. after I was off those meds I couldnt sleep for shit, had headaches and horrible fatigue, anxiety shy rocketed - cold chills and my hands were sweaty all days long. I still get minor hand sweats, anxiety, fatigue but thats all I experience. Your can make it through all this if I can being on 2 of the hardest drugs to get off of.Good luck - keep us updated!

Doctors are very willing to prescribe trazodone. I do not see much about it here. At low levels it is not only a good sleep aid, but for many it takes so wof the edge off of anxiety.

trazadone helped me a lot a few years ago. But I overslept on it too much and was late for work many times so I had to change meds.

There are also people like me that trazadone doesn't work on. I was taking temazepam and xanax to sleep, however, this was not sustainable.

I would suggest getting valium because it is long acting and fairly sedating. It will help with your withdrawals.
