30mg Hydro + 24oz Beer

So I took (4) 7.5mg/325mg Vicodin at roughly 6:30-7:00 this evening. Im losing my opiate buzz and have a nice frosty tallcan of Pabst Blue Ribbon (24oz, 4.7% ABV) in my fridge and am debating on drinking it.
After 3 hours, would this be safe?

I took two small sips off my PBR and threw it back in the fridge with some clear wrap over it :)
I oughta know better by now. I was just curious more as to what the half life is on hydrocodone? And how long after taking it, would be considered ok to consume a couple beers.

At that dose of hydrocodone alcohol would cause harm. If the opiate dose was lower, maybe 1 to 1.5 of the 7.5mg pills you took it would be alright to have a little alcohol with the opiates. Otherwise stay away if either are at high doses. It can be extremely harmful, mainly because of the acetaminophen in it. What I would suggest as a limit would be 10mg of hydrocodone and 12 oz. of the PBR.
 
Combining alcohol with opiates runs the risk of causing respiratory depression, which can kill you. I don't exactly know where the line is for that though. The amount of acetaminophen in the Vicodin is enough to piss your liver off also.

I believe Hydro has a half-life of 3.5-6 hours, if I remember correctly from when I looked it up.

Better safe than sorry.
 
For the sake of harm reduction I have to say no, but in all honestly I highly doubt 30 mg of hydrocodone and what equals out to be around 1.5-2 shots of alcohol would kill you. In terms of respiratory depression that be like taking one more 7.5 hydro. Not to mention you're on the comdown so it's even less that 30 mg now.
 
I didnt even bother drinking anymore after my couple sips. I recall when i was in my younger and dumber teenage years, I ate a handful of 10mg yellow norcos (somewhere around 30-40mg), sometime around noon. The day went on and the sun went down, and I ended up drinking a few beers sometime between 9pm and midnight. I felt fine...until came the time to lay down :(

I recall my breathing being slightly shallow, and I kept jolting myself awake when almost fully asleep, GASPING for air. Its like my body would exhale, but my lungs (CNS) would forget to inhale.
Scary stuff. I dont ever wanna go through that again, especially nowadays now that I have a 2 yr old who relies on me to wake up every morning.

Thank you DevilsGospel for the reply on the half life of Hydro. Can anyone else back up that time?
 
I was close, according to Wikipedia the biological half life is 3.8-6 hours. I would still avoid drinking the same day as you dose though.

Yeah i wont be mixing the two withint the same 24 hour period. I just took my last 4 at 9:00am and i dont plan on buying my beer tonight after work.
In fact, those were my last 4 for the next month. My buddy gives me anywhere from 10-15, 7.5's once a month when his script gets filled.
So my once a month, opiate enjoyment is now over after today for the next 30 days or so :)
 
I like a strong beer to potentiate a hydro buzz. I never have more than one or two drinks while on opiates though as thats just askin for trouble.
