Oh yes indeedy - In fact, use by rats is positively encouraged.
Did ya know that brodifacoum is the most potent rodenticide legally available for pest control? Its the only poison that delivers a lethal dose in just one feed - hence the common nick-name 'Super Warfarin'. This name is also sometimes applied to a more common yet much less potent compound called Bromadiolone (which Is what the stuff from Wilkos contains).
Brodifacoum is also the only rodenticide that there is no known resistance to.

I'm a professional pest controller and brodifacoum is the most potent rodenticide we're allowed to use. Anyway, I was researching the various chemicals in our armoury when I found that article I linked in my post about the lad who regularly smoked it in his spliffs - why anyone would do this is beyond me, but it occurred to me how easily a deadly poison could be passed off as a NPS - hence this thread. I assumed the 'joke' would be obvious (SHM and Scotch twigged straight away), but now I'm a little worried some idiots like the lad in the article could take it seriously and even try it themselves.
So better late than never:
WARNING - THIS IS NOT A LEGAL HIGH, IT IS A DEADLY RAT POISON AND IS NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION - NO, I MEAN IT, IT REALLY ISN'T FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION, OR INDEED ANY OTHER ANIMALS APART FROM RODENTS. SO DON'T FUCKIN TOUCH IT OK?

What I see, is a load of excuses, from a man who's taking far too many strange RC drugs than what's good for him... You'll happily consume horse tranquiliser so save me the guff about not wanting rat poison. You're on a rocky path, best to recognise whats happening to you before it get's much worse.
Now lay off the 3-[3-[4-(4-Bromophenyl)phenyl]1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-1-yl]-2-hydroxychromen-one. They'll get you in the end mate. It isn't worth the added vitamin K.

Something tells me you knew all along that this was a spoof...
Just wanna clear up one point: there is no vitamin K in this stuff - Vitamin K1 is the antidote to accidental poisoning in all mammals. Treated in time a course of Vit k injections will sort you out..

Always found those rocky paths to give much more support than those wispy, sandy paths. They tend not to be tangible, so just slip through your fingers when you try to make sense of them, even if you do see an extra set of phantom footprints walking beside you 8)

It's not exactly far-fetched to imagine that at doses non-lethal to humans, a powerful rat poison could have effects that certain people would find enjoyable. Still bloody dangerous, though. Definite Darwin Award candidates .....
No, you fooled me proper good, well done. Though it doesn't cast a pretty reflection of my true thoughts for posters on this forum - genuinely assumed strong rat poison would be the next new low for eadders. Didn't question it at all.
I didn't bother clicking on the link originally, but after seeing that I doubt very much the toker took it knowingly. No doubt, it was that "heroin laced weed" the dealers keep telling you about.

@Julie. Yes you're right. After all, the only difference between a drug/medicine and a poison is in most cases dosage. Also, it's not without precedent. Strychnine used to be used a lot in pest control and is reported to have stimulant type effects at sub toxic doses. It has also been used as an additive in LSD, amphetamine and heroin I believe.
The best one though was cyanide which was commonly used to control rabbits back in the day. The antidote to cyanide poisoning is amyl nitrite, and any pest controller carrying cyanide was required by law to carry the antidote as well. Wish I'd been a pest controller then...
