2c's and tricyclics

I was recently put on nortriptyline. The med is NOT being used for depression, nor do I suffer from depression.

My question relates to what effect a tricyclic would have on dosing.

my standard dose for 2ce or 2ci is 50 mg orally.

At one point in my life I was taking a SNRI (Effexor). This med WAS used for depression. While taking this Effexor, My dosing for the two chems mentioned above was 85 to 100 mg. (surprised me too!!)

can anyone shed some light on what effect tricyclics might have on dosing?

Wow!

Tricyclics, unlike SSRI/SNRI can make your trips stronger, so you need lower dose to achieve the same effect as without them.
And although this is not true for everybody(some people don't notice any difference), it is wise to start low - who knows how tricyclics affect you?

(are you sure your scales are right? are the chems pure?)
seeing how your body reacts to these chems, i wouldnt even dare guess what the effects would be. unfortunatenly i have nothing else to add, but take care with these chems at these doses and in these combinations. just start low low low

Tricyclics shouldn't be mixed with 2c-*, they will make the drugs much less effective.

Hm, interesting. What are your reasons for supposing that 2Cs is likely become less effective, whereas LSD is more effective when administered together with TCA?

@Kingme....scale is spot on..better be for what I paid for it! Seriously though I have always had a high tolerance for these chems.

@sekio....yet a study on Erowid mentions that a lower dose was needed.

Most tricyclics block the adrenergic and 5-HT2a receptors and should, in theory, cause them to reduce the effects of psychedelics.

The NET inhibition might do more to counteract that, however. It's still not a good idea mixing the 2.
