2CE and effects of prescribed medications

I am new to bluelight so if i make any booboos please forgive me and explain what i did wrong.

I have this friend who wishes to consume 2CE. but he is on anti-depressants and other medications, and he wonders if this could affect the outcome of his expirience. he is prescribed Lexapro and Lamactil which he takes every morning, in his prescribed doses of 40mg and 100mg, respectively. In the evening to help him go to sleep he takes Alazopram XR 1 to 2 mg. Can anyone provide him with any advice?
 
^I would be wary re: Lamictal. Lexapro and 2C-E would have no major intereaction (possible decrease in effects) but I can't say much about lamictal. It seems that the MOA of lamictal is unknown; throwing a damn potent psychedelic in the mix is probably unwise.

That said, hopefully someone more knowkedgable will be able to chime in.

40mg Lexapro? Damn, I didn't know they ever prescribed that much... In my experience lexapro will cause a noticeable decrease in effects, but this can be mitigated quite effectively by a slight increase in dose. Xanax (alprazolam) will also cause a marginal reduction in effect. I didn't know lamotrigine had MAOI properties... I thought its main action was on sodium channels, but I could be wrong, however I am sure that it doesn't have much of an effect on adenosine A1 and A2; adrenergic α1, α2, and β dopamine D1 and D2; GABA A and B; histamine H1; kappa opioid; muscarinic acetylcholine; and serotonin 5-HT2 receptors, which would lead me to believe that it may be ok. The half life is about 4ish hours, so if he could take the 2ce roughly 12-16hrs after lamactil that would be safer, however still not inherently "safe."

The only way to know for sure if it will have an effect is to gradually step up dosages from 1 or 2mg up to 5-7 to check for any adverse effects or reactions. If nothing happens from those doses it is most likely safe to take a recreational dose. Remember though, I'm not a doctor, and if lamactil does have MAOI properties I probably wouldn't take any 2c-e until at least 28hrs after my last 100mg Lamactil dose, preferably longer, but you're not really supposed to skip doses with that type of medication i believe...
 
anyone know if there is any real negative interaction between 2c-e or 2c-t-2 and aderall?

i ask because i often take aderall after a trip if i stayed up too late.

i found one account online of someone having a terrible reaction to their (quite large) daily dose of aderall after being up on 2c-e the night before.

whether this was just due to lack of sleep or not was hard to judge from the post.

any info appreciated.

amphetamines can potentiate the psychedelic phens.

do you take the adderal to just power through the next day without sleeping? that sounds like a terrible idea to me. if i have a trip worth anything, i'm definitely going to want some downtime before i have to be functional.

2c-e is already somewhat stimulating (for me at least), and adding amp to the tail end seems like it would just be unpleasant and scatterbrained.
 
it depends

there is often a lot of work to get done in my life, and if i only took psychedelics on days when there was NOTHING to do the next day, I would never get to take them. (as i work at least 6 days a week at this point)

sometimes it might be more that I ended up staying up way later than i had planned on and I have little choice but to power on through (like going to work)

other times I can get some sleep first but then have to go to work.

Or others it might be that I had taken adderall in the morning and then a friend will call up later and want to have a psych journey.....

with acid, I have often found that throwing in some aderall at the tail end will allow me enough extra hours to take care of some things in the morning, without adding any yucky feeling.

but i wouldnt recommend it for everyone.
