2CT-21 - moderately experienced
An initial trail of 2CT-21 (11mg) produced a very smooth, slow come up to a mellow intoxication of 7-10hrs, with no body load or anorexia and slight colour effect, and a kind of smoothing or softening of the vision but barely any more. It was fairly social with mild mood lift, but no real introspection to speak of – indeed rather more towards a dampening of cognition. Thinking was ok but sort of slowed. We felt hard pushed to call it psychedelic as such. Even during peak one would be able to drive without problem or moral qualms, so even though one had full effects probably 'full effect' could not be called a +++ by Shulgin’s strict definition – it felt as if it could get boring with nothing to do, so went into town with R for lunch.
It was pleasant, with no negatives other than being somewhat underwhelming/uninspiring, but I think a lot of people would really like the material. Certainly the dosage could go up a bit, but I wasn’t sure how much point there would be, and suspected much higher could just make it uncomfortable rather than more psychedelic.
A second experiment was disappointing, despite being taken in beautiful scenery, including a trip in an alpine cable car, caves etc. Mainly just felt slightly ‘different’ in a pleasant enough way but didn’t really enhance the day and may even have smoothed over ones natural buoyancy at such stimulus. Almost everything I look for in a psychedelic is missing, but I suspected it would work really well with cannabis cross amplifying and filling in the gaps, so a week later I called in a friend for just such an experiment.
We both took 11mg with weed. I swallowed a medium oral dose of hashish & had several vaporisers. We prepared some garlic bread whilst waiting for the effects to build and then made our way to “The Lodge”. I felt gently energised but very calm (was stressed when it was taken). It was reasonably social and down to earth. We discussed some deep stuff but no more than normal.
We stopped by a tree & I looked at the autumn leaves on the ground – there was an awareness of shape but the main thing I was struck by was contrasts of colours in relation to one another.
The hotel and bar are Victorian but of much older style and somewhat ornate; we sat on a leather sofa by the large fireplace, with the gallery above – both drugs were now peaking – the combined sensation was a wonderful cosy euphoria. The cannabis added some spontaneity and humour, and maybe even a little content that seems otherwise lacking, and brought out a still subtle but nice, soft, visual aspect. We both enjoyed this peak enormously and sat there grinning and commenting on the experience. The body sensation was delicious and things seemed to have what I can only describe as a sort of crushed velvet look.
Walking back I was again very much taken by the pleasant contrasts of colour; we stalked a pheasant in the bushes just to catch a glimpse of it before leaving it be and heading home.
When we got home we just flopped on the floor as we felt a wave of the 2CT-21. It wasn’t unpleasant, but I was again left wondering what the point of it all was. There was also some shoulder tension, which I’ve had each time. After my friend left the effects were not strong but I felt bored so swallowed lots more Cannabis to good effect. This was quite an enjoyable day and I felt very good afterwards, I would certainly at least consider it again as a social thing (combined with cannabis) apparently without dark corners.
I’m not terribly impressed with this stuff as any kind of tool for exploration although as a purely recreational thing it might rank very highly and I could see this appealing to a good many for this purpose, indeed my friend and around ten others I know who sampled it mostly found it thoroughly agreeable but seemingly without application beyond this.
