2C-E: One Dead and ten hospitalized.

Let this be a lesson, when you have a child - don't go fucking snorting or otherwise consuming copious amounts of unknown powders! No offense, but have a little respect for youre kid mang! This story is just an unfathomable act of greed, followed by another stupid and selfish act, who loses in the end? Ultimately the baby, but also anyone who wants to responsibly research these compounds. I know I said before that cathinones, etc will be the downfall of the rc scene, but let me revise that: Stims/cathinones/empathogens coupled with dumbass kids will be the downfall of the psychedelic rc scene. Ok sorry - end rant, haha

^^ indeed. it has never ceased to amaze me why so many people insist on snorting these compounds, let alone snorting unmeasured quantities. I'm sure the booze didn't help anybody's judgment either.

It's especially tragic that a child is involved. We are seeing the typical response though, blame the chemical, not the behavior.

Was sad to read this story on the front page of my local paper. I know Tim, the person who supplied the material. I haven't spoken with him for about a year. Last I heard of him he supposedly OD'ed on meph around last July and went into treatment. Before that I know he was buying large quantities of 2c-e from a vendor.

I live in the area as well, and the irresponsible slanging of research chemicals is a disturbing trend I've been seeing, the last few years especially. After all, anyone with an internet connection and a bank account can now be a drug dealer. I knew it was a matter of time before we had this kind of overdose, even with a compound with a fairly established safety record. Kids are taking multiple doses of chemicals they've never tried before, but they have no idea what they're getting in to.

Of course the knee jerk reaction is to immediately blame and ban the substance, it's quite expected.

Has it been confirmed that the culprit is definitely 2C-E yet?

I saw above that it was speculated that MDPV was sold as 2C-E by a shady dealer, which has a very different toxicity profile, with MDPV being far more hazardous than 2C-E.

a lot of the articles claimed that it was tested by a lab and found to be 2c-e, but still some people are insisting it was mdpv. i'd say theres a pretty good chance it was 2c-e and they just didn't know what they were doing.

sad news about the death of anyone

but still...

dont mean to sound mean, but if i had a kid at 19, i would definetly NOT be trying to snort/ research anything. if anything, id be trying to get a fucking job and take care of my incredibly young and surely vulnerable family. the kid was 5months old. thats when they have to eat 8 times a day, every 3-4 hours. but hey, i guess trying out a drug that lasts 12h makes sense...

seriously, the US is amazing in that it allows alcohol at 21. what do they think, that teenagers will stop being stupid until they reach adults? shouldnt there be more emphasis on research and education as opposed to banning?
had the victims in case been properlyu educated and the substance sold in a controlled and checked manner this might have been better avoided. but now, they will just sweep things under the rug with the big law broom. make anything starting with 2c illegal. then anything starting with md.
anyone else will die, we'll just ban that too. the public needs protection from itself, right?

what can i say. i hope the family/ies will be ok. i will continue to do my bit and give anyone that asks all the info i have on substances and their proper use. not much else i can do...

Another friend was supposedly bringing 2C-I, which is similar to the 2C-E that testing later showed to be the drug people ingested.

This entire article is kind of a joke though. So much misinformation going around.

There needs to be an EFF for drugs or something, to educate lawmakers and judges. They shouldn't be able to legislate something without understanding it first.

Anyway. It doesn't matter what drug it was if this is true:

http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2011/03/17/father-19-dies-in-mass-overdose-others-hospitalized/

Trevor Robinson, 19, died when he overdosed on the drug.
“I definitely believe he could still be here,” said his brother, John, who blamed Trevor’s friends for his death.
Trevor was hitting his head against the wall after taking the drug. Some of the people at the party snorted it, while others dissolved it in liquid and drank it.
Trevor needed help immediately and the people at the party tried to calm him down.
“Apparently, they knocked him out or something and then they waited a long time. He wasn’t breathing, and then they dropped him off in the front of the hospital. Just dropped him off in the parking lot and drove off,” John said.
John said medical staff found him and tried resuscitating him, but couldn’t.

Stupid kills. Nothing new there.

Whatever the cause of death, please take this needless death as a lesson. Know what you're putting in your body. If you're going to take a research chemical, you should RESEARCH it first. And if you're going to give it to someone else, don't just assume they know what they're doing. Make sure, or the blood's on your hands if something goes wrong. And if you knowingly misrepresent any chemical to someone, it's no better than spiking their drink.

wait, knocked out? like they beat him unconscious? then when he didn't breathe "for a while" they left him in a hospital parking lot? and the 2c-e is the problem?

It's likely they gave him some sort of benzo.
I can see this being entirely an accident, the person started freaking out - they gave him xanax/valium (standard for someone going into a disaster trip), he stopped breathing, they freaked out while tripping and dumped him outside the hospital paranoid themselves and refusing to go inside. - Stupid, but pretty possible due to being fairly headfucked from what was happening.
Anyone ever tried to feel a pulse on a shit load of psychedelics? It's fairly difficult. But still no excuse.

I imagine this will stay incoclusive for some time. Drugs found at the scene may have tested positive for 2C-E (or maybe not) but toxicological tests confirming what was actually taken usually take a few weeks.

it doesnt matter what substance they find in the end. the media already showed a culprit, and i doubt anyone in the press will come out in 2 weeks saying: remember that death? well we were wrong, heres what really killed that poor soul, irresponsibability. glad we could set the record streight. so lets all forget that demonizing we did for a week and concentrate on the next thing....

^ Indeed. There was a flurry of deaths attributed by the media to mephedrone in the UK in the run-up to the cathinone ban here. Every single one later shown to not be related to mephedrone but the damage is done as soon as the initial report is made. As far as the UK population is concerned meph killed loads of people here so was rightly banned. Meph quite possibly will kill loads of people here in the long run - even more so now it's banned and only widely available in cut form on the black market - but so far hasn't killed a soul. Truth tends to get in the way of a good story, dontcha know. Bye-bye "killer" 2C-E :\

It is also amazing that alcohol and alcohol related deaths are reported by the media yet no lawmaker come forward to try to get that one banned, or better controlled at least.
but we all know how the media loves a good demon. but it is also the people that are easily persuaded, and most prefer to give up rights in exchange for the illusion of protection. why bother with learning, when the state can just ban all that it deems fit to be bad for you? why read when the media will pick the juicy bits for you?

it is far easier to find a drug guilty of murder than lack of proper education or social responsability.

Exactly. However they can tarnish the reputation of drugs in the eyes of a skeptical public, they will, and they won't lose any sleep over it.

Drugs are a prime threat to people's view of 'national security'. Like false-flag terrorism, drugs are a reason to start wars. The ignorance is alive and thriving, and the governments and their media arms only need to fan the flames to keep it alive. It's never really about protecting people from themselves. It's about money; it's about greed; it's about preserving the empire.

The crucial point of this story which most people will miss is not about 2C-E or dodgy dealers, it's about the irresponsible and unhealthy nature of mankind's relationship with himself and his environment.

Wouldn't surprise me if he had other drugs in his system and that's what caused it. I don't think 2C-E is what really killed him.

Also some (friends), dumping him off in a hospital parking lot to pretty much die. This dude was 19 years old with a kid, what a waste.
