20MG 2C-E on 4th of july in a mental hospital
This is my first ever written trip report. Hope I did it right
Ok so this is kind of an out dated trip report but it is one I will never forget. It happened July 4th of 2004. A group of us who live near an old state mental institute decided to spend our 4th of July there. We knew a guy who had keys to it and let us inside of it (he is the project manager prepping the place for revisions).

This is a picture of the place in 1960. So try to imagine it today after being abandoned for 15 years.
We had the entire facility to ourselves but remember it is a mental hospital so in actuality it is more like a high security prison.
9:00 PM
I ate a chocolate containing 20 MG of 2C-E then headed to the hospital. We got there about 45 minutes later and begun to hang outside of the institution. Our group consisted roughly of about 15 people and about 4 of us were on 2c-E while the others where just drinking and smoking weed. We stayed outside in a court yard for awhile lighting off fireworks and waiting for some other people to arrive. I worked at a firework distributor so I received about 1000$ worth of free fireworks of my choice. I chose all the types that blow up or go into the air naturally.
10:30 PM
Everyone had arrived and by this time the drug had started to take strong effect. All of the buildings seemed to be moving slightly and the windows kept getting skinnier then wider. The more I traveled into my trip the more I realized that this place had a very eerie and negative feel to it. You could see in everyone’s eyes that they were curious what was inside but didn’t want to commit. Much like seeing a dead body… sick curiosity.
We then decided to take a tour of the building and this soon turned into the most unforgettable chaotic 4th of July of my life.
11:00 PM
We went inside the building. We all were carrying flashlights because only certain rooms had power. Even though it was July, it was extremely cold inside and the air was very stale. This of course made the drugs feel very strong because my whole environment had changed with in a matter of seconds. The flashlights were so bright but the halls were so dark.
The hospital consists of 3 floors and a basement. The worse the mental condition was of the patient, the higher was the floor they resided. We went directly to the third floor where the real psycho’s used to live. When we got to the maximum security ward I noticed I had to pee really badly. So I went into one of the metal lockdown cages and started to pee in the full steel toilet mounted to the floor. Since it had been there so long moss has grown over most of the base. The moss started to slowly crawl and come alive up the base and rim of the toilet. By the time I had realized I was finished peeing I realized that I was alone. The metal grates on the walls were moving together so fast that it made parts of my head hurt. I didn’t want to look at them but I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t stand still and I knew that if I didn’t keep moving that I was going to go nuts. I had to get out. I heard people down the hall, which seemed like a journey, but I eventually caught up to them. I was running at this point. I startled them when I arrived and this was about the time when we realized our tour guide had disappeared somewhere. He is the only person with keys that can get out of this place and at this point the only guy that knew where we were was stoned out of his brain. This hospital had 450+ patients at one point… imagine the size. I didn’t want to leave the side of those that were “tripping” out in the fashion I was. I felt that in someway I was connected to them and only them and that if I lost them I would be on my own… even if I was with the others.
Midnight
We are in the maximum security ward and people are starting to freak out. They decided they want to go back to the courtyard and hang out instead of being inside any longer. While we followed the stoned leader through many foreign rooms in search of a staircase we saw blood marks on the walls, rooms where lobotomies were performed, an electroshock therapy room, and x-ray room, a morgue and just a bunch of other really creepy icons that came along with stories of patients going through torturous procedures.
We finally got to the bottom floor where we could see the courtyard where we started… but we were still locked in.
The more doors we tried to open trying to get out the more the group realized that there is no way it was going to happen because our guide was the only one with keys. At this point, all of the drunks started to go fucking crazy trying to get out. The girls in the group started screaming at the guys to get them out and the macho men started trying to rip bars off the windows. The people that had been there before and stoners laughed and said “there is no way out guys… we’re in an institution”. They finally managed to break open a window and crawl out of it just to find a 30ft cement wall in their faces.
It was at this point that someone threw a mortar through the broken window at the group. This was one of those balls you put into the large tube and it shoots into the air and explodes. Big. We all knew what it was so we dove for the floor, which seemed like a thousand feet considering how high I was. It then blew up spewing fire everywhere. Instantly the stoners started to light and throw fireworks all over the place including outside. Remember, these where big fireworks. As you can imagine, being summer, this caught a tree on fire pretty quickly and filled most of the area we were in with smoke. My friends and I who were tripping tried our best to stay calm so we began smoking some weed. We smoked about 2 grams and then got back to throwing fireworks outside at the people throwing them in. We find out later that our tour guide was running along the roof throwing mortar balls in random rooms and trying to put out the fires we had caused 3 total fires around the whole building.
After all of this goes on for about 45 minutes and the area we are in is filled with smoke we finally are let out and back into the court yard. When we get out there are about 15 extra people who had arrived while we were inside. We continued the rest of the night letting of fireworks that with every spark sent amazing visuals everywhere and with every boom sent awesome sensations through my body.
All in all it was a great experience that I can say I will never get to experience again. If I had the chance to do it all over again I would. It is a very diffrent kind of trip when it takes place at such a dark place where so many people suffered such a short time ago. I learned that I could trip anywhere and not freak out which is nice to know.
