Sometimes I feel the beginning signs of a 'come up' very quickly too, especially with phenethylamines. I think it's probably our bodies immediate reaction to knowing something "is about to happen". Whether it can physically tell something has been ingested, or is just our minds (mentality) having known we have just taken a drug... I'm not sure. But I definitely feel slightly different within even a few minutes of taking a few various chemicals. This includes Mushrooms, although I think that's just because I have a bunch of nasty fungus sitting in my stomach.
