Phenethylamines 2C-B, worth trying on its own?

On the topic of 2C-B, it should not be combined with aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) inhibitors since the active dose of 2C-B is already very low.
There are various types of ALDH inhibitors:

• prescription strength (eg disulfiram, temposil aka calcium carbimide)
• Coprine from the common inkcap mushroom (Coprinopsis atramentaria)
• food-based (eg durian, starfruit, diallyl trisulfide from garlic, daidzin from Kudzu, pomegranate, menthol)
• reversible inhibitors (eg alcohol, aldehydes from cinnamon, cumin, anise, vanilla, almond)

That paper also mentions high levels of protein binding causing delays in pharmacokinetics. The fact that mescaline’s potency correlates in vivo and in vitro argue against its main effects being caused by some cryptic metabolite.

Agreed, that paper wasn't a good exmaple. This is more interesting, from "Trouts notes" on The Cactus Alkaloids:

Inhibition of aldehyde dehydrogenase by calcium carbimide “severely” enhances the pharmacological effects of mescaline in rabbits. Neff & Rossi 1963 cite Friedhoff & Goldstein 1962.

In rabbits, which show no symptoms from mescaline, pretreatment with calcium carbimide causes some effect whereas calcium carbimide by itself does not.

Rabbits, which are estimated to be about 70 times more tolerant to mescaline than humans, developed “severe” reactions when given very small doses of mescaline after pretreatment with calcium carbimide implying that aldehyde dehydrogenase inhibition enhances the pharmacological activity of mescaline.
