Last night I had my second experience of the incredible synergy between 2C-B and alcohol. This was my second concert experience with this combination in only a few days.

Unlike the previous show where I went with a group of friends and knew many people, this time I went alone. It was a bit awkward for awhile. I just wandered around by myself looking for people I knew and watching the situation like it was a social experiment.

Like last time, I should have taken the 2C-B slightly earlier as it wasn't until the headlining band 'Explosions in the Sky' came on that I took the capsule containing the 15mg 2C-B (I thought there was another band going on before them). As I had taken this same dose of 2C-B only two days prior, I was concerned tolerance would be an issue, but it did not seem to be. When I took the 2C-B I had consumed approximately 5 beer and was already starting to feel pretty good.

Anyone who knows this band, would probably agree that this is amazing music for tripping. Incredible beauty, creativity, passion and tension. All without saying a word. This was my third time seeing this band over the years, and it has always been a great show. They easily rank as one of my favorites.

Although I was mostly coming up during the set, I didn't feel any discomfort or nausea at all and the show was amazing. I was spellbound for most of the set and was able to learn a lot about the bands sound and how they create the music they do. My only regret is that I didn't bring my camera (which also takes 640x480 30fps video), but when I bring it to shows I often find my self looking through the viewscreen rather than at show, and it can sometimes be a distraction.

After the show I went outside and the 2C-B really had kicked in. I felt amazing and lucid. It reminded me soo much of MDMA. There was 'magic' in the air like the first few intense experiences with MDMA, but it was much less forced. Alcohols effect on dopamine could be partly responsible for this increased euphoric effect. I hope this 'magic' never goes away with 2C-B as it does with MDMA, only time will tell. I have not lost the 'magic' of MDMA as I use it extremely sparingly (~6 times total over the last 7-8 years) partly because I am concerned of possibility of neurotoxicity and partly because the purity of 'ecstasy' these days can often be dubious at best. I feel 2C-B to be a safer alternative and its definitely part of my own 'magical half dozen'. There are more concerts coming up and I look forward to trying this combination again in the future.

The street car/bus ride home was amazing. All the lights of the city were like jewels. I kept thinking about things like upotian pharmacology and the concepts of designer states of consciousness. A 'Brave New World Order' or utopia, the choice is ours. My mind was racing with psychedelic thoughts, yet there was no threat to my concept of self and no depersonalization which seems to happen a lot with tryptamines.

I came home, listened to music, drank another beer and smoked some cannabis. My state of mind was still very euphoric and MDMA like, but I could feel the 2C-B starting to wear off, leaving a drunk/stoned feeling I am more familiar with. I took some NAC/vitamin c and drank some orange juice as I knew that it was only a matter of time before acetaldehyde, the toxic metabolite of alcohol (30x more toxic that alcohol itself) built up and would be bringing my night to an unremarkable close. The come down was almost non-existent compared to MDMA. It was still present as 'what goes up must come down', but very smooth and I wasn't left dysphoric and empty which is common with MDMA.

The primary detoxification mechanism for scavenging unmetabolized acetaldehyde is sulfur-containing antioxidants [see Figure A]. The two most important are cysteine, a conditionally essential amino acid, and glutathione, a cysteine-containing tripeptide...

In one experiment with rodents [Sprince et al., 1974], a LD-90 dose of acetaldehyde (the dose that would normally kill 90% of the animals) was completely blocked by pretreatment of the animals with cysteine and vitamins B-1 and C. In other words, none of the cysteine-treated animals succumbed to the lethal dose of acetaldehyde! N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) protected almost as well as cysteine...

...the pharmacologic and toxic effect of alcohol are different. The pharmacological effect (i.e., intoxication or drunkenness) is not inhibited by vitamin C or cysteine, but the toxic effect (e.g., the hangover, nervous irritability, swimming difficulty) is inhibited. This suggests that, with alcohol, you can “have your cake and eat it too.”

I found it ironic that the nickname for 2C-B is 'Nexus" as it felt a little bit like the "nexus" in the movie "Star Trek: Generations". An artificial utopia of ones own making. As I sat there eating my meatless vegetarian chicken burgers and thinking about the amazing night, I couldn't help but feel I was somehow cheating, (in more than one way), by not only having such a good cake, but eating it too.

Very nice. I also felt the "nexus" effect when I did it the first time in the desert. Felt like everything was intertwined with my brain.

Explosions in the Sky rock, also.. nice report

Yeah, great band, great report. I missed them when they came near my neck of the woods. :(

How much of the nexus effect do you attribute to the fact that nexus was its old porn shop pill name?

^I could also really see the aphrodisiac effect with this drug (it was originally sold as an aphrodisiac named 'Eros' in 5mg pills AFIAK.). There were a lot of amazingly hot girls there, which didn't always use to be the case at indie-rock shows. Unfortunately though, I didn't have a chance to test those effects of 2C-B...

This is a little bit about the 'Nexus' in Star Trek.

The "Nexus" is the name for a nonlinear temporal phenomenon capable of delivering an individual to a non-corporeal utopia-like existence...

...When it comes into contact with sentient lifeforms they are turned into part of the energy pattern. There they exist in a dream-state where eternal happiness is achieved by the crafting of one's ideal universe to whatever he or she desires. It is very difficult to "snap out" of the false reality and return to one's original physical life once becoming one with The Nexus.

...Guinan described it as "like being wrapped up in joy", a totally euphoric experience. The Nexus itself, once one is inside, causes reality to shape itself according to personal desires. Time itself has no meaning, and any reality one wants becomes fact. This makes the Nexus useful for time travel and transportation, if one is already inside.

^ this sounds like the perfect drug to me. Something as psychedelic and interdimensional as DMT, with the euphoria of MDMA and the lucidity and clarity of thought of 2C-B 8o

Imagine psycho-pharmacology in the 24th century. I bet they would have some pretty crazy drugs on the enterprise (i.e 'synthohol', a synthetic version of ethanol which has no side effects). I think the Holodeck on psychedelics would be the coolest experience possible.

Mmm... Nexus... Star-Trek style...

=D

Great report, man! 15mg of 2C-B has only done it for me when I also had LSD beforehand, but your report has me more interested than I've been in a while to try out a higher dose and see what it can do for me.

^haha thanks.

I got bored of 2C-B the second time I tried it (my first two times were 20mg), but thats when I used it by itself and by myself. I think its in combos (whether MDMA, LSD or alcohol), in social situations where it really shines.
