Wondering... read on eMedicine that it labetalol is the preferred drug of choice in extreme hypertensive cases where a patient's BP was unabled to be lowered by benzo's and atypical antipsychotics.

now... would it be any different to take atenolol instead... as it is slightly different from labetalol in that it does not possess alpha adrenergic antagonising porperties?

6am, need to go about my day in a few hours... a really long work day for around 10 hours... slept only 3 hours last night. been only at this for 2 days. total meth consumption ~0.5g.

took 6mg of bromazepam an hour ago - worked well as an anxiolytic but didn't do much (obviously) to BP's...

It is absurd to use anti-hypertensives of the beta- blocking kind on amphetamine.

Because it is selective, I think you will be good in low doses.

I don't know still, do your research please.

i just took a 25mg atenolol. ididnt sleep last night cause me & some friends had been smoking ice till bout 530am. its almost 12hrs later, adn i still have hypertension. i think the atenolol should help. i dont noramlly take it, just found an old scrip in my medicine cabinet and figured id try it out

Be careful of arrhythmia, the atenolol will cause your heartbeat to decrease and the meth will speed it up causing an irregular heartbeat.

I wouldn't think this is the best idea. Attenolol is a beta blocker if I'm correct.

I think if you are trying to lower your heartbeat something like clonidine would work better than attenolol.

the atenolol+ cyclobenzprine worked wonders and i was able to get some sleep. i was using the atenolol in hopes to lower blood pressure & get rid of the hypertension

Hope this helps you all! It is much safer to take an alpha-blocker according to this Wikipedia page (it includes a reputable reference):

"Beta blockers must not be used in the treatment of cocaine, amphetamine, or other alpha adrenergic stimulant overdose. The blockade of only beta receptors increases hypertension, reduces coronary blood flow, left ventricular function, and cardiac output and tissue perfusion by means of leaving the alpha adrenergic system stimulation unopposed.[35] The appropriate antihypertensive drugs to administer during hypertensive crisis resulting from stimulant abuse are vasodilators like nitroglycerin, diuretics like furosemide and alpha blockers like phentolamine."

To sum up, there seems to be uncertainty on the web as to whether there is any danger at all to taking beta blockers like atenolol at the same time as methamphetamines. However, the trend seems to gear towards using an alpha blocker (I did, and it worked quite well - I used doxazosin - lowered BP from 170/100 to 130/80) after having tweaked for nearly two weeks.
