25i-NBOME & Sertraline (SSRIs) - Seratonin Syndrome?

Hey, I've been a recreational user of various substances for around three years now, and have experienced a variety of drugs; (Cannabis, Cocaine, Ecstasy, MDMA, Speed, Mushrooms, Mephedrone...) However around 2 months ago I was prescribed a daily dose of 50MG Sertraline (Brand name Zoloft) for my fairly severe day to day Anxiety.

I'm very aware of the dangers of mixing SSRIs with MDMA and for obvious reasons I've avoided taking it since starting the Sertraline. Which sucks because I really enjoyed rolling occasionally with a few close friends :( On point however, I've been offered the chance to take the Phenethylamine; 25i-NBOME, which is a derivative of the hallucinogenic 2C-I. I was basically wondering if I am in any danger of Seratonin Syndrome from the combination of the two? I know that 25i is an agonist of the 5-HT2A receptor, which is where my worry stems from, however I've been told by multiple sources that both Psilocybe and LSD are 5-HT2A agonists and that the interaction they have with SSRIs is non threatening...

The unfortunate problem here is the lack of information available about 25i as a whole, and I was wondering if anyone was able to shed any light on the situation?

Any help is appreciated :D

Don't know much about 2CI-NBOME specifically, but if its anything like its related drugs, there shouldn't be any risk of serotonin syndrome. However, the zoloft is going to severely reduce any effects you get from it, and you may not get any visuals at all. I recommend just stopping using the zoloft for a couple days before you plan on tripping.

Serotonergic hallucinogens such as LSD can potentially cause serotonin syndrome, although the risk is not as high as it would be for something like MDMA. I don't know how high the risk is for LSD (anecdotally I know of someone who developed it combining LSD and tramadol, which has SNRI properties.. but that's not hugely useful for you) and I know even less about 25i-NBOMe I'm afraid, so I wouldn't like to hazard a guess as to the danger.

nAON is right - SSRIs do tend dampen the effects of serotonergic hallucinogens. Stopping it for a few days might help but due to serotonin receptor downregulation once you've been on an SSRI for a while, some people do still get reduced effects even after a few days break..

Although we usually cover combination questions here I'm going to move this to psychedelic drugs as the know more about the 25x-NBOMe series than anyone else on BL (BDD doesn't cover psychedelic drugs) - hope that's okay!

Yeah, cheers for moving it. I'm new to this forum so I wasn't 100% on where to post it, I've been looking at Bluelight on and off for a few months and it occured to me to just register haha

The problem is that Sertraline has withdrawal symptoms that would most likely start 3-4 days after taking it and I'm not sure if any negated effects would bother me, I've only ever really tripped once and it was quite mild so I'm perfectly fine with the experience being negated, I just don't really want to end up in hospital. To be honest I don't fear death in the slightest but I wouldn't want my parents to think they'd raised a son that takes narcotics on a social basis, it would kill them :\
