I started using pain pills about 5 years ago because of back issues. I did have surgery 2 years ago and it was a success but still kept taking pills. I finally got tired of the roller coaster of having pills and running out. I quit cold turkey and I am sitting today at 24 days clean. I am still having issues with RLS, low energy and anxiety out of this world. I can feel so stressed out and not have a reason causing it. Damn, how long does this last? Any over the counter products help with the anxiety?

What your experiencing is called Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome. Basically your brain is struggling to regain homeostasis. I cant really tell you how long it will take for you to feel normal as its very individual but you will feel better eventually. There are not many OTC anxiety medicines that I know of. I am sure someone will suggest some herbal stuff but honestly I wouldn't expect any miracles. Time is going to be the main remedy for the problem. I highly suggest you get into some counseling and try to figure out what led you to abuse opiates as its so easy to relapse. Hang in there I know its a rough ride but its not impossible.

Just try to get to 3-months by hook or by crook. That's where mos people see a significant reduction in PAWS. There's even been a few studies that corroborate this.

Supplement-wise the usual gamut seems to help people: magnesium, Vitamin-D, fish oil, chamomille tea, skullcap, L-Tyrosine. Maybe talk to a doctor if you think you need an anti-depressant for the anxiety.
