Hi guys,

I have a horrid fear of flying, and over the last 22 hours aboard a flight from London to Sydney Australia, i took (without knowing) i took 22, 10mg tablets and after a comfortable 14 hour sleep im still feeling very affected. Now im quite busy at today and need to know if there are any ways i can avoid this horrible withdrawal im going through. I dont feel like i need anymore valium at the moment im just still very dopey and finding it hard to function as normal. Are there any ways i can overcome this feeling? Previously ive tried running and walking (exercise in general) but i want to know if there is a drink (i cant drink alcohol anyway as im a recovering alcoholic).

Any tips on what i can do to help me function as normal as i dont want to go through the next few days feeling groggy headed as i do now. And to make things worse, i have to work tomorrow (sunday it is today) and i am in a job which means i have to stand around and follow words of command.

Any help quickly please as i need to head out and get shit done.

Cheers, BG.

220 mgs. of Valium .... Good Lord Dude ... I'm no doctor and don't have an M.D. but my best advice is to get you a big jug of 100% pure cranberry juice and drink the whole thing and piss like a race horse. Best I can offer dude; sorry. I like me some valium. But damn, it's a wonder you made it. Like this really helps now, but they sell basic ole boring motion sickness pills which are very cheap and would have probably been a better choice. Good luck. Also, alcohol is actually a depressant and would only make things worse.

Just to be accurate, what you are going through is not withdrawal. You are still feeling powerful effects from taking excessive amounts of a long-acting benzodiazepine. Really, the only thing i can think of that would actually help is doing things to speed up its metabolism in your system. When all the valium gets out of your system, you should feel normal again. Give it a little time; it won't last forever.

In the short term, try drinking a lot of coffee maybe? If you are prescribed to any stimulants (like ritalin, adderall, etc.), that might help you feel more "with it," but it would really just be masking the symptoms to a degree, not actually getting rid of them. I assume you don't take valium daily- that you just took that much for the flight- if that's the case, when it wears off, besides perhaps some slight rebound anxiety, you should feel normal and be fine.

yes, that is quite a bit of valium, most I've taken is 130mg and I was slurring like a mother fucker.

you will most likely feel the effects for the rest of the day.

wow. just sleep for a long ass time. that was dumb to eat that much good lord

i think he had a fear of using his seat for a flotation device, no big deal

If u smoke cigs apparently nicotine reduces blood levels of diazepam. & how did u magage to eat 220 mgs? I thought that kind of compulsive redosing only happened with things like xanax & ambien

After a certain point, all benzos are prone to redosing...at least in my experience. 220mgs though? I would have been asleep after eating 40mg.

To the OP: you'll be fine, valium is a long-acting benzo and its metabolities are long acting as well. Give it time, avoid other GABA-modulating/enhancing drugs for the next few days and you'll be good to go.

That's the first thing I thought. It's quite dramatic actually how much it can lessen the sedation and "flumpiness" of Benzos.
But, seeing as you've taken an ungodly amount, I'm not sure how much good it will do.
Other than that I'd suggest exercise to get the blood pumping which would help clear you out a bit quicker, lots of water / juice, some nice food (that isn't too fatty, as Diazepam is very Lipid soluble) aaaand.... Well, that's all I can think of... Other than taking some form of stimulant lol (bad idea) ;)

I believe the jetlag was also a factor in this if your sleeping schedule is near opposite AND you've just taken a shit load of Vs recently that will add to you feeling disoriented.

Holy Shit, dude :) That's Hardcore.

You were originally asking how you were going to make it through the day and for suggestions - Hope it went well :)

man, i wish i was on the east coast of australia right now! spent a great summer over there when i was younger just traveling around w/ a few of my friends. try not to act too v'd out in king's x- u might get ripped off or something, or you might accidentally pay for a bj :)

i bet the OP has forgotten they've created this thread;)

my reply mustn't have gone through yesterday but my thoughts were that you're still under the influence of the diazepam. it does have an extremely long half life, up to 200+ hours, and with that kind of dose to a non tolerant user would do exactly as you've described. just sounds like the typical benzo hangover after taking too much.

you never specified whether you were addicted or not. a once off dose isn't going to cause you withdrawals, maybe some rebound effects like anxiety, aggitation and insomnia over the next few days-week.

give it a day or two, allowing for you to get over jet lag and you'll be good as new.

Nah, havent forgotten leftwing..lol

Its kind of worn off, im still a little slow today but dont worry. Im a Paramedic by trade and there is no lethal dose of Valium (if taking only valium)

And due to so much surgery on my knees, throat ect ect over the years my tolerance to Benzo's is very high. I can take about 30mg and not feel any different. Anyway, thanks heaps for the replies. Ive found this site so useful for many different things.

And yeah, last year from Paris to sydney i took 190mg with no dramas, but still had the same hangover for a few days after that flight too.

I have to fly for 4 hours again tomorrow, but this time im physically only taking 40mg with me, 20 for the flight up and 20 for the flight home. Shouldnt be as bad this time round!!! LMAO.

Cheers, BG.
