I find it interesting you guys in Australia are so into our politics. My sisters good friend is fixing to move back there, largely bc of Trump. She tried to lecture me on my stern stance on the second amendment, and I simply applauded her for following through with her convictions. So many in Hollywood said they would do the same but renigged, sadly. Anywho, her husband was super liberal, so thats two less to contend with. Sometimes you have to take the little wins.

why would she move just because she doesn't like trump? I'm sure its for another reason...whats the point of uprooting and fucking up your entire life just because an asshole was elected president. It doesn't make sense.

Moving to australia doesn't necessarily mean "fucking up your life".
Travel and living in different parts of the world is a great thing to do, and i'm sure if i was surrounded by trump supporters i would want to radically change my location too.
It makes perfect sense to me - i wouldn't want to live in a place surrounded by people who revel in an oligarch's lies, bigoted dog-whistles and delusional dogma.
Trump has created a truly toxic social environment; i know a lot of americans who are talking about relocating, and quite a few that already have.

As for the long article, I'm putting some interesting information into this thread to prevent trump apologists hijacking it with misinformation and the usual distortions and straight-up lies.
If trumpists don't want to read it, that's fine. Knowledge is power and informative articles are a great deal more interesting than the cognitive dissonance and disingenuous tactics of the pro-trump set.

Lol yep I agree, but they have their convictions. A ton of folks in Hollywood quit raping each other long enough to declare they would leave the country if trump won. Most didn't follow through, but my sisters friend did and I think that's pretty swell :)

So on his first day back from a long asia trip. trump:

1) tweets that black BB ball players need to apologize
2) lifts a ban on importing poached elephant body parts into the US which was instituted by obama. You would think there are more important matters to attend to

This man is severely mentally ill. He can't put together one detailed or intelligent though about any topic and the sole purpose he has is to undo anything obama did. Hes a seething pile of hate and grudges for childish reasons. I really can't believe anyone still supports him at this point, but hate runs very deep in peoples hearts, blaming brown people for their own failures to make something out of themselves.

Obama could have cured cancer than trump would remove the cure from the market spite. I'm not sure what obama ever did to him besides be black and make fun of him in jest and go to a school that was inside the top 20 which trump can't seem to get over.

Hes a very sick person, the only people still supporting him at this point are just racists...which most everyone is so makes sense why he has so many supporters.

It is very sad what is happening in politics. Its an all out war between parties and politicians and there is zero focus on fixing anything for the citizens. Im predicting more violence like the scalise shooting targeting either side

Shes as petty as trump is then if thats really the reason. In actuallity her life would be no different if hillary was president other than not having to watch someone with severe mental illness run the country

^ it seems so weird, to me, for a reasonably intelligent person to look at the first 10 months of the trump administration and conclude that it has been "really effective". it's quite simply the most disfunctional, shambolic administration in living memory.

humor me, droppers, how do you think trump would have reacted to chinese college players being jailed for theft in the u.s.?

alasdair

It wouldn't have been a story. Chinese do not value human life like we do, and if it did happen to be a media spectacle I'm sure Xi would call him up to get them back. Trump would oblige and the media would find a way to critisize him over it. But like I said it likely wouldn't get picked up by the media, and China doesn't value individual human life. The government harvests its citizens organs lol

^ so your position is that if you're a celebrity or a sports figure it's fine to get a 'get out of jail free card' when you break the law, here or in another country?

interesting.

So now I see the mindset of why Obama left Otto Warmbier to die in NK. No "get out of jail free cards" with his administration:\
Wonder if the media would have called trump racist for not attempting to help the players get out of a 10 year prison sentence. Of course that's a rhetorical question.

so you'd therefore be fine with a mexican, say, actor breaking the law and facing no legal consequences, beyond being sent home, because the mexican president picks up the phone?

interesting.

Right on! Great post.

I also agree with the travel/moving experiences, it enriches our lives. I believe Trump is quite toxic, unreasonable and a chronic liar IMHO. It seems to me that people around him is living stressful lives and there’s simply too much drama. Besides he hasn’t done much since the inauguration. I see the US as divided as ever in modern times.

You sort of are implying that, would be my point. By assuming that theses Americans would receive commensurate justice in a 2nd world state, that is well known for its major human rights violations. Why can't you just admit I'm right? If these ucla bb players had committed this crime in Western Europe, nobody would calling for them to be brought back to the US. I guess your point is unclear and very low on detail.
