Almost all NFL players have mild brain damage so it seems a bit stupid to look to them for profound political insights.
NBA players are also now getting involved when they really should just be quiet and enjoy the millions they get paid to play with their balls and entertain us.
And these "protests" are helping Trump politically. Not respecting the flag, the anthem, the country and the people that have died for the nation is
blatantly creating division, and many people have a problem with this. It is considered an unspoken line that you do not cross. You have the right to protest whenever you like - doesn't mean that it's a good idea during the national anthem.
Seriously, tell me. How do you define race?
We talk of a race like it's nationality (e. g. the German race) or a skin color (e.g. a Somalia, a descendent of former slaves from West Africa, and a San living in the US are all "African-Americans", even though they are very distinct on a genetic level). But trying to define it is hard.
It does get confusing sometimes thanks to the very liberal (no pun intended) way that so many are using the word lately to attack others. Let's take the boxer Canelo Alvarez for example. He is super Mexican but does not look Mexican at all. If I made a stupid joke about him eating tacos and wearing a sombrero, that isn't actually racism by definition. You could call it being culturally insensitive or ignorant/intolerant/offensive. But if I for eg. said that he was inferior because he is a white Mexican, that would be racist. It's like when people say that they have a problem with Muslims, sometimes their opinion stems from ignorance but often it is a legitimate criticism. The offended ones will automatically envisage (and loudly decry) racism yet there are white/black/arab and asian Muslims. The critics of the Muslims do not have a problem with their race, they have a problem with the ideology that they adhere to (and are prone to fight for). Not all cultures are created equal. Some have incorporated very bad ideas that are definitely deserving of criticism, and it is important not to conflate legitimate cultural critiques with racism.
Racism is serious. You'd be surprised how many people the Left are currently branding "racist" that are the exact opposite. These speakers and activists are trying to explain that if you allow racism to be devoid of its true meaning, then incidents of legitimate racism are not going to receive the amount of attention and outrage that they deserve.
It is quite the twist of irony that the people who think that they are fighting against racism are inadvertedly facilitating it by not treating it seriously enough.
