2017 Trump Presidency Thread

Not open for further replies.
We get it. You're a white guy who doesn't care about politics. You are fine with Trump because like him you're a racist, sexist, shameless person who is uninterested in learning anything new. He has your dream life. Great.

You stumbled into Current Events and Politics. Why don't you head back to the Lounge or try Drug Culture? Or another forum? Or another website?

Great talk. :D

Why are these people coming out of the woodwork? Is there some white supremacy site getting them all lathered up?

Posts on the internet can be easily misconstrued.

It reads to me that you are implying shim wandered in from a white supremist website and has no idea where he is.

Yes he should post in the lounge more.

I would assume a lot of people dont get too in depth with politics any more than how it affects them. People are busy living their lives. But should they want to join in they should do so. Why not?

This is about Trump and how hes going though, not who is a wanker or not.

Behind all the smoke and mirrors of this Russian bullshit, how is he doing as a President?

Hows the economy going?

Detroit?

Healthcare is pretty important to the average person so not having access to it is doing what to the American people?

It seems Americans are pretty selfish if there is an argument against it.

Taxes should go towards the people not individual persons.

Dear Soso78,

I'm not sure why you deleted the last two posts, but I do have a couple of questions about the trio.

1) Why did you feel the need for three posts?

2) What happened between Post I and then Posts II and III? You seemed to gain an understanding that I didn't "tell" subotai that he couldn't post in this thread or forum.

Post I
Cduggles who do you think you are that you feel you can tell people to stay out of a thread or forum?
Everyone can post here as long as they're not breaking any rules so get used to it.

Soso78 Post II
Can't handle someone else's opinion and suggests they post elsewhere, she needs to grow the fuck up.

Soso78 Post III
Try to keep up alasdair, I wasn't invited to leave someone else was.

FYI, I prefer #2 of these three posts, although "invited to leave" has a nice ring to it.
Profanity in this context is cheap, but the wording packs a good punch! :D

Thanks for clarifying these two things! :)

Im not going to quote shims posts as thats been done already. He wasn't complaining though was he? What percentage of the population didnt bother showing up?

Its weird how a country so proud of itself cant be bothered voting.

^ Exactly.

Nicely put.

"Trump came in there to the factory last December and blew smoke up our asses. He wasn’t gonna save those jobs. And, if that’s the case, he would have saved us and Rexnord, a company around the corner from us that makes parts.

"We had a mix of Trump supporters and Clinton supporters at the factory, I’d say. The ones that really supported him are quiet right now. Some of them got let go yesterday, too.

"We talked about Trump on the job, after the election. You could always tell who the Trump supporters were because they never participated in the conversation. It was about even, blacks and whites, for Trump. Also, some of them wore the hats. Not anymore, though.

"Personally, I think the President is a ‘rubber room’ politician. He’s crazy. He needs a straitjacket. He’s in there for his self. He’s not in there to help America keep jobs. Because if he was we wouldn’t be in the predicament that we’re in every day. He keeps howling, ‘Make America great.’ But he can’t make America great if all the jobs are leaving the States and going to Mexico. People can’t support their families."

- New Yorker interview with one of the workers at the Carrier plant, which is laying off hundreds of employees only months after Trump and Pence claimed to have come to an agreement to save 800 jobs from being moved to Mexico.

Trump has got to understand that America needs to be a competitive market and industry has to change to make good quality products cheaper.

Japan made cars and electronics much cheaper by getting into robotics. It wasnt long ago Japanese products were seen as inferior and cheap but people bought them anyway. Having stuff so cheap it didnt matter it doesnt last as long. Just replace it.

Now Japanese goods are pricey compared to China. Again cheap bulk wins over dearer quality.

The next countries that are geared up to swoop under China are India, Pakistan and Bangladesh especially in textiles and clothes.

USA and Australia and a lot of other once affluent countries did not see the competition.

Mexico can manufacture much much cheaper. So why would a company stay in the USA if its not able to be so cheap?

Theres a few ways and no ones going to like the answer but Americans will just have to work for cheaper or make a lot of factory work automated and people will have to retrain in something else.

Trump is a buisness man and would know people cant be made to buy American and raising tariffs could work but tariffs on American exports would also go up.

America is pricing itself out of a lot of industry so hes going to have to reform the manufacturing industry.

I wasn't invited to leave someone else was.
yeah, you're right. i wrote "you were not told to stay out. you were invited to leave" when i should have written "he was not told to stay out. he was invited to leave".

i got the subject wrong. a less egregious crime than twisting the words to change the meaning, i would argue. if you continue to have a problem with this, consider suing me? :)

alasdair

I'd reply but I don't know what egregious means.
Not sure anyone should be told/invited to leave though. Be boring as fuck if everyone with a different opinion is asked to leave.
Try not to delete this post alasdairm ffs lol

lol. online dictionaries are available.

Not sure anyone should be told/invited to leave though.
i guess you only fly the freedom of speech flag when it suits you :)

anybody here can invite somebody here to leave as long as they do it without insults and abuse. anybody invited to leave can choose to ignore the request completely. it's pretty straightforward.

alasdair

Like you said alas there is no freedom of speach here, if you don't like anything for any reason you will delete it.

The point is that threads need more than one sided lefties screaming racism every opertunity.

Like you said alas there is no freedom of speach here...
now you are getting it :)

that doesn't alter the fact that you only seem to care about free speech when the person speaking agrees with you (or you with them).

The point is that threads need more than one sided lefties screaming racism every opertunity.
that's one way to characterize things. i think you're exaggerating to make your point and when you have to exaggerate to make your point, i think that speaks to the strength of your point...

alasdair

No mate I just think people should be able to say what they want. Even if I don't agree with it.
Just remember I'm not the one deleting people's posts. You are.

If it was for the good of the forum I'd understand but I'm getting the impression it's just what's for the good alasdair.

this is an off-topic exchange but no matter how much you try to tell yourself and us that it's all my fault, you're choosing to be part of it. but it raises an important point.

No mate I just think people should be able to say what they want.
unless what they want to say is "i invite you to leave" in which case:

Not sure anyone should be told/invited to leave though.

right? at best you're being inconsistent. at worst, you're just another hypocrite with double standards.

i find that a lot of right-leaners (for want of a better umbrella term) are extremely hypocritical on core issues:

  • they claim the government has no right to tell you what to do. unless you want to smoke a joint or have an abortion. then they're all about the full-weight of that unholiest of entities - big government
  • they claim that freedom is paramount, freedom of speech sacred. unless you want to exercise your constitutionally protected right to freedom of expression by burning a flag in protest. then they shit their pants and want to shut you up real quick
  • they had absolutely no problem criticising obama endlessly but people criticising trump are 'attacking' him and spreading 'fake news'
  • they were all about the congress saying no to pretty much everything obama tried to do but get their panties in a bunch when democrats in the house and senate oppose trump
  • they lauded courts who threw out aspects of obama care for their independent thinking yet courts which uphold restrictions (on, for example, trump's travel ban) are hotbeds of disgraceful judicial activism
  • and so on and so on ad nauseam
i believe that you're guilty of the same kind of hypocrisy. if you disagree, i am happy to agree to disagree. you can even have the last word and then maybe we can move on? :)

alasdair

Are you under the impression I'm against people smoking weed or having abortions?

People should be allowed to say what they want but also people have the right to be pissed about it.

I don't follow uk politics never mind Obama and trump. Healthcare in the U.S is shit as far as I know.

As far as the being invited to leave post, it's not so much what they're saying I dislike but the result of it happening.
If people with different views are asked to leave it will make for boring discussions, don't you agree? A one sided debate isn't a debate.
