A G20 recap:
No one but Trump's Nike-wearing Haley-Bopp Heaven's Gate followers and the Russians were happy Trump was at the G20.
However, the EU made a great trade deal with Japan. China is discreetly courting Mexico and Germany as trade partners.
The US is now isolated in significant ways from its allies, philosophically and scientifically regarding climate change as well as a dearth of multilateral and bilateral trade prospects with prosperous countries.
Trump discussed a post-Brexit trade deal with current Prime Minister May, which would put it in 2019. Something to look forward to for everyone, although May might not be Prime Minister then.
America waits...
On a more personal note, I've come to accept that Trump followers just don't care that he is a shameless and pathological liar, that his narcissistic need for adoration - particularly in front of a crowd or on social media - leads him to say whatever he thinks will get the most positive attention, that he is completely vulnerable to flattery and incapable of processing criticism or opposing opinions, that he doesn't diligently prepare adequately for anything regardless of its importance because he trusts his instincts even though they have not made him an effective president, that this inconsistency affects the ability of any country (including the majority of Americans) to believe anything he promises (which is very bad for the US), and no matter how harmful his policies are to his supporters they will still run off the cliff while he profits. They embrace the hypocrisy of Trump completely.
It's impossible for me to understand these folks, but it's held up for the most part so far. So I feel better now just accepting that these people are nostalgic or hateful enough to cut off their noses to spite themselves as long as it includes others.
It's harder to accept the consequences of Trump's deleterious presidency on America.
At least he's undermining the Republican legislative agenda as much as anything else.
