2017 Trump Presidency Thread

I don't really like to guess people's ages according to posts, but I have guessed you were both early-mid 20s and late 30s.
I've made a terrible habit of it because over in PD, it's very obvious when a teenager comes in and asks something only a teenager would ask hahah

I've also observed, in my teenage years and my time spent teaching, that teenagers are very likely to have knee jerk/self-centered reactions and opinions about things, so that also causes me to make assumptions. I'll try to refrain in the future.

Oh, you were posting that in response to Ryan01. Just what you said resonated. People tend to think these views come from ignorance and a sheltered life.

there wasn't even an outrage when trump had his briefing on the north korea missile launch in the dining area of his club with loads of other people around who had nothing to do with it at all, and let people make more light with their cellphones because it was hard to read.

so I guess when trump and his administration officials act completely irresponsible regarding national security and classified information, all of a sudden it's no big deal...

I'm shocked to know that you're almost a year older than me. Wow man. Guess those nine months or so were the barrier between extreme rightism and mild leftism.

And here, I thought you were 16-18 or so, cause I haven't held views like yours since my (what I personally view as) ignorant teenage years.

Now I'm curious to know what drugs (if any) we all consume in here.
Hah, I had views similar to yours when I was 16-18. I got tired of the left and their obsessions with diversity (especially after experiencing the negative effects of it) and how many genders there are lol. Plus I come from a military family which includes some Army Rangers ;)
I've never met a leftist Ranger.

Yes, because being obsessed with gender and diversity is the main issue all left leaning citizens care about, right?

What did you experience?

Gender and diversity are but one aspect of leftism and by no means the most important. Neither are that meaningful to me tbh. I'm more interested in economic equality which is easily the most burdensome social inequity.

In an ideal world where tax dollars directly went to good, effective public services, I think almost all people would be okay with it. But the US government is extremely wasteful and corrupt, and the public services offered are pathetic compared to those in other countries. The debate over whether tax dollars are being used effectively is completely reasonable to have, and as long as one has little-to-no confidence that his tax dollars are being used well, can you really blame him for not wanting to just give that money up?

How do you think the US compares to other countries for services?

And are you including state and local taxes as well, or just federal taxes?

its sure is what the politicians on the left are all about. I would love to hear someone besides bernie talk about jobs.

It is sinking the party unfortunately and they don't seem to be learning their lesson.

aside from arguments about the damage he has already done to the integrity of the oval office, while the effects of trumps actions on the greater economy will take time to become apparent, the travel industry is already starting to feel the effects and it's only likely to get worse:

'Trump Slump' hits tourism in the U.S. - and Berkshire County
The Travel Press is Reporting the 'Trump Slump,' a Devastating Drop in Tourism to the United States
alasdair

tourism is 30% of Jamaica's GDP
The Jamaican economy is heavily dependent on services, which accounts for more than 70% of GDP. The country continues to derive most of its foreign exchange from tourism, remittances, and bauxite/alumina. Remittances and tourism each account for 30% of GDP, while bauxite/alumina exports make up roughly 5% of GDP.

how are things going down there?

and of course travel is going to take an immediate hit, executive orders have caught the world off guard, let's talk in 2 years when people adjust and policies fully develop

the e-commerce boom is directly related to the depletion in revenue generated from travel/tourism

industries have come and gone since the 1600s,the money 'lost' from the dip in travel will open up other opportunities, americans always adapt

So is it you trying to make up for not being good enough to be a ranger?
Umad?
I never tried, I'm more of an air force guy :)

What did you experience?
Lots of stuff like this =D

Also I dated a black woman for awhile, and the brothas didn't like that one bit. Always would try and start shit when I was with her. Even got followed in traffic a few times. I got a little paranoid and ended up having security glass installed in all windows in my house. It was like me being with her made them question their whole existence lol. This was in St Louis, which is about 50% black. Take a guess at which neighborhoods there are the cleanest.

I just saw another video like that with black girls beating on a mixed race girl. I couldn't even watch it. The video was of Collin Flaherty, who wrote the books "don't make the black kids angry" and "white girl bleed alot", covering black violence, and black on white violence. But the main subject of the video was about how more blacks reportedly have more "racist" response to interracial dating, and mixed race members of their community, than whites at least openly do.

white middle class
i understand what you mean when you say white but this middle class thing you speak of does not really compute

i'm not going to blame past administrations for the slow death of the middle class

i blame a high percentage of the middle class casualties who refused to accept/ignored the blatant warnings/early symptoms of an inevitable economic shift, creating a socioeconomic plague in the process

i'm not going to shit on the digital era/technology, we wanted it, ready or not, and i can't help but recognize the collateral damage that's impacted large areas of the country

i'll probably get shit on for making this metaphor, but i feel like society got cocky/greedy and decided to bang the 10 knowing she had AIDS when we could have hooked up with the 8 that was knowingly uninfected with sure death and worst case she carried something far less benign/easily treatable

i find talking racial injustice to be tedious and a dead end street

but why isn't there more talk about the mexican gangs that have declared war with bloods and crypts in CA?
i've heard it's not uncommon for these new gangs to throw explosives in rival gang's homes, often aiming for children's bed rooms to maximize the fear they wish to instill.
it sounds like propaganda or misleading anecdotal evidence, but it passes the smell test and sounds impossible to permanently defuse

disclaimer, the following is a rant disguised as a lecture, directed at the left, right, and middle
if you read it and hate me, don't forget that i still like you more than a friend :)
NSFW:
i didn't vote, so 11/9/16 hardly changed my life, values, behavior or beliefs, life is too stressful to panic over theories, speculation, and group fear and outrage

but enough is enough, i'm going to complain.... this society/culture is a shared one and myself and millions of other optimistic/kind/strong willed people don't deserve to be exposed to this mass hysteria and gross exposure of inexcusable behavior where the actions are speaking louder than the government. people love to ask, what do i tell me kids...well if you're someone who says or knows someone who says that, ask them what they're supposed to tell their children about the distasteful and violent reactions people are having over an election...it's inexcusable and i'm assuming most of you are just depressed, lonely or victims but you need to fully understand the toxic replications of your actions....

first off, if you're rooting against trump and get pumped when you read something that fit's your negative narrative, then you''re rooting for the demise of millions of lives and need to take a closer look at yourself and ask what exactly you're doing to help things? you want to help, you're a reasonable nice person...right?

get over yourself, stop injecting personal beliefs and ideals in your daily dialogue in an attempt to convince others that they are wrong, there are no winners in the game you think you're playing, talk with people with opposing views instead of trying to 'win'...just think, here we are, allowed to do same things we were doing a year ago

this is america, if you're not incarcerated or being disciplined by the state/feds than you have the right to remove yourself from any situation that frustrates, hurts, or threatens your livelihood. I think some people need to figure out if they want to be happy or are starting to enjoy their miserable stench

my hobby during the winter is supporting NCAA basketball, kind of pathetic for a 30 year old man to let 18-23 years olds playing basketball effect my mood but at least i'm enjoying a distraction from toxic bullshit. my team is overachieving so much i can believe trump's approval rating might reach 75 percent within a year

when my team loses and sucks most of the season, which is common, post games sting for about 20 minutes and i move on and either forget the frustration or apply it's energy to something new and inspiring

if you hate trump yet find yourself reading about him everyday, you're 100% supporting him(you are)
your echo chamber media outlet is an exploitative vomit laced gravy train that's spoon feeding you rumors and propaganda for their monetary gain, it's your echo chamber it's thier basket ofcash and power distracting you from things that you should be focusing on...like your family, friends, your hobbies, your financial responsibilities, your diet and anything to create joy for yourself and others around you

politics will never impact the relationships with my friends, family, and peers. we understand their importance yet would rather sit back and accept our fate

i grew up playing sports and equipped my self with tools to handle the ugly side of life(go ahead laugh)
i.e learning humility, developing self esteem, learning how to be competitive in a healthy way, trusting others, understanding importance of accountability, self dicipline, learning how to respect others personal boundaries and space and recognizing when it's time to lead and when to just sit back and listen....yeah 12+ years of team sports instilled all those things in me. i hope you're laughing, failing to recognize your ignorance as you can't and won't ever be able to relate

i'm not saying i chose the right path, because everyone develops flawed in their own ways, but there's a certain level of beauty to escapism/ignorance towards politics. you folks that didn't play sports probably let a few assholes in your youth create your perception of the kind of people who participate...take it from someone with experience, i'm 30 years old and still play in organized sport's leagues, it's healthy, physically but more importantly mentally and socially... the guys who love playing baseball, basketball, golf, tennis, soccer and can't quit don't play it for you reasons you think. it's meditation/social bonding the only people who mistreat others are usually the same people who obsess over winning and losing and clearly are frustrated with their life in general and 90% of those guys/girls suck at the game, eventually go away and never return probably because they realize they're a burden to a group of people just wanting to escape reality for an hour or 2

it's clear as day that this election is the first time a lot of people have been part of a winning or losing 'team' that they've fully invested in because nobody is handling with any integrity,,,, not the left or the right....which i get, first taste with actual competitive was wrestling as a young child and when i'd lose i'd throw hissy fits, i was 7-11 years old, by the time i was a teenager i understood winning and losing are just outcomes along what really matters, the journey ....but the way grown ass people reacted to this election is pathetic, i'm truly disgusted and embarrassed to be an american(if you're embarrassed for america because a majority of the regions in this country elected the 'wrong' person, you're a crazy person that should just be embarrassed in general) but i've got sympathy for those in grief and not going to lie down, refuse to help or deny it's going to take some time

i'm cursed yet lucky to live in a small town because nothing has changed around here in over 25 years. we continue living our lives, to me, it's my mother, father and other mentors that run my life. we may have been effected by the government but we don't dwell on it, with time comes change, embrace it

by all means if something extremely significant happens that damages the mass population, than fight the good fight, i'll join you, but right now all i see is obsessing,
fantasizing, arguing, and needing to be validated over pure speculation! everyone believes the news that they agree with and that makes you a sucker. they're exploiting you for your clicks/advertising money. the top dogs at your news source does not share your passionate views...and the white house is undeniably using misdirection when addressing the public, their actual agenda needs to remain a secret, to protect mankind, factual transparent information is way too powerful to share with the world

i expose my self to enough multimedia that allows me to get the pulse on what's going on across the country and i could not be more serious when i say it's devastating when i go on the internet and 'take a look around' people want bad things to happen.....people are writing their own narrative, rejecting required patience.... it's killing me because the behavior of people balls deep into this nonsense are headed towards a path of self destruction .... wouldn't that be ironic, people committed to exposing the president as being crazy end up in the psyche ward themselves because they don't know when to pump the breaks?

i can relate at being upset at irrational shit but understand the anger, fear, anxiety you're experiencing is a choice and can easily be alleviated through concentrated efforts

let's just settle with 'keeping america cool' because no matter what happens people are going to be furious, and it's contagious, stop allowing yourself to be a victim, free yourself and allow joy to dominate your life and let the progressing happiness set the table for the great future catered for you and a community/lifestyle you subscribe to

i really hope someone comes forward and admits they got carried away but broke free :)

which is why i explicitly wrote "the effects of trumps actions on the greater economy will take time to become apparent".
