2017 Trump Presidency Thread

180*

Super pissed that Trump did not declare the opiod crisis a national emergency.

He seemed to be the only candidate beside Chris Christie that ever talked about the problem.

I should have known when they appointed somebody with an obvious food addiction to head the opiate commission that there would be no fucks given.

But I held out hope that Trump's loss of his own brother to addiction would have made him more involved still hold out hope for that.

His plan to combat the opiate/opiod crisis is "“best way to prevent drug addiction and overdose is to prevent people from abusing drugs in the first place.”“If they don’t start, they won’t have a problem. If they do start, it’s awfully tough to get off, So if we can keep them from going on — and maybe by talking to youth and telling them: ‘No good, really bad for you in every way.’ But if they don’t start, it will never be a problem.”.

So much can be done, but then healthcare and insurance companies wouldn't get richer.

Perhaps nalxone implants will become a part of the child immunization process b/c that's the only way his plan would work.

Oh well that's politics.....:|

(CNN)President Donald Trump said Thursday that his administration plans to declare the opioid crisis a national emergency, a designation that would offer states and federal agencies more resources and power to combat the epidemic.

"The opioid crisis is an emergency, and I am saying, officially, right now, it is an emergency. It's a national emergency," Trump said at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. "We're going to spend a lot of time, a lot of effort and a lot of money on the opioid crisis.

Holy cow!

Loving life so much right now!!!!!!

sounds like the classic "law and order" campaign. ie more "effort and money" ie resources, ie police.
beef up the war on drugs. make america great again. just say no.

great, i'm sure it'll be really effective at saving lives...

He only hates immigrants cause they keep suing him for failure to pay their wages.

oh, Melania's suing him? ;)

she's probably holding out for the life insurance.
being president seems to prematurely age the fuck out of people that do it, but i get the feeling trump just plays one on tv, and spends his days playing golf down in florida.

that's my conspiracy theory. it's a bit outlandish, i know.

What, you mean this guy, talking in 2016 about the Iranian nuclear deal?

but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are — nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.” wonkette.com

So much information conveyed, so precisely; his grasp of the situation is astounding.

Yes, vote him in charge of these weapons. They've got power.

Melania is the safe bet.
Her husband is screaming at the TV coverage, his abysmal approval ratings, his dissatisfaction expressed in unhinged tweets, and not to mention Mueller's looming investigation - one has to wonder what his blood pressure is, although his diet alone is clogging his arteries as we speak.

if i get the feeling he could drop dead on podium and his supporters would swear black and blue that he'd never been healthier.
he was the healthiest they'd ever seen him - or anyone - ever.

I get the feeling that during the interregnum, Pence would look up from his inauguration plans, Melania from her dreams of no longer having to *censored*, Jared and Ivanka from considering their Dream New York calendar and his loyal sons contemplating running the Trumpire, and then Pence would tell the Secret Service agents that there had been a few last minute changes.

I think his sons just contemplate PONIES!

If he dropped dead on the podium, his supporters would swear . . . Killary did it. Healthy as always, drop dead suddenly? Clearly it was her, and the DNC, to cover up those child-molesting congressmen.

Can you list any links that give you this impression?

you can glance over LiquidMethod's impassioned defences of trump, but you probably already have, so i'd take note of Chomsky's observation observation that trump's main support base (disaffected working classes and poor) and are the people that will be hardest hit by his bullshit and his agenda.

i could have posted a cheap link highlighting something cringeworthy about trump fans, but chomsky's a great deal more classy.

He also has hairs ON his nose.
Z magazine/ZNet came to our cafeteria (good food- really). I hung out with the anarchist types, some of whom were a bit much, but overall cool.
A nice facilitator told me she would take a pic of us coming down the stairs. The look on my face immortalizes that discovery. ON his nose.

Hah, I remember Z magazine from when I first moved to Oakland. It was too late by then, I was part of the 9-5 workforce, which tends to diminish anarchist tendencies (someone has to be in charge of stocking shit for the coffee pot, you can't just leave it leaderless).

Anyway, I have two hairs growing on my goddamned nose, what face did you make, exactly?

i thought trump won, and the election was done and dusted like 9 months ago?

the fact that you lot are still going on about hillary clinton just goes to demonstrate that trump has lost every battle since then. against his own party, no less.

i think the election is the only political win trump will ever have. it's all been uphill from there, and his presidency is doomed.
pretty funny that the "lock her up!" guy is under criminal investigation - but she isn't.

it's interesting that you're still carrying on about her, but i guess you wouldn't want to mention any of trump's unsuccessful "deals", blatant lies or embarrassing failures.

the one thing he's doing successfully is being the most out-of-his-depth president in US history.
also the least prepared, least qualified, least capable and least popular.
i suppose that's a 'win' of sorts; he will go down in history as leading the most shambolic and chaotic administration to date.

keep hanging on to that one glorious victory, dave.
good on you man - keeping alive; a 70 year old billionaire toddler that dreamed of being president. inspiring stuff!

You said he's showing signs of failing health, you provided a Noam Chomsky video, I wanted clear signs that there are obvious health problems, falls, epilepsy, etc.

Did you not see me a most obvious Trump supporter, write out my frustrations over his refusal to declare the opiate epidemic a national emergency...only for two days later make a 180* turnaround and is now declaring national emergency powers, and yes that mean lots of money for b.s., but it in one case will help tremendously, means that state mental health institutes/prisons (that are the only place for broke addicts without health insurance have to detox) the power to prescribe suboxone. Where as before they would just pump you full of seroquel.

It means widespread access to federally funded resources on a local level, and that is something Obama couldn't possibly do because he took the entire health insurance industry up his ass, really hard, payback for overnight stardom, 24/7 MSM coverage (hmmm much like Trump...) and a hand delivered presidency. He also had a fetish for letting actual hard drug lords out of prison.

He dispised his own citizens so much that instead of giving them aid to find treatment, he instead gave billions to the insurance companies to run a health insurance ponzi scheme.

Imagine if every single illegal immigrant's health bill that was payed by us taxpayers....went towards the detox and rehab for next 1,000 people that will die next week???????

But hey multiple free tax subsidized cell phones ('Bamafones) for ghetto youth to expand bushiness are a more worthy endeavour than helping addicts and preventing abuse.
