2016 American Presidential Campaign

And so the exodus from Clinton's camp begins. Expect to see a lot more of this as Bernie's popularity among voters grows. This lady was working with one of Hillary's Super PACs just 3 months ago. She was the head of the Dem party when she was Senator in Ohio, whose primary just so happens to be coming up next week. She's pretty influential.

One candidate has a life-history of being anti-woman. She has demonized every woman her husband raped, sexually harassed, and slept with. Even at the age of 27 while a trial lawyer, she viciously attacked a 12 year old rape victim and laughed gleefully when she got the girl's rapists off with a slap on the wrist. She runs on a platform of being pro-woman and American Women love her. And on the other side we have Trump. Despite some of his comments, I wonder if Trump might actually respect women.

They just have to say they're muslim and they should have no problem getting in! Muhammad Trudeau will personally welcome them at the airport. Plus free medications, free housing, free dental, free everything!. He'll even have a mosque built in your new neighbourhood if there isn't one already.

you should take your muslim hate campaign somewhere else.
This thread is about the 2016 US Presidential Election

Bernie's chances are a lot better than the media is making them out to be. That's one of their tactics, making it sound like he's already lost so his supporters give up.

If you strip away all the Superdelegates they're already giving Hillary, which aren't even final until July, it's a much tighter race. Not only that, but she's already gotten her wins in a lot of the state's she was strongest in. The remaining states are going to be a much tougher battle for her. The majority of Superdelegates will switch sides by July if their constituents vote Bernie. When Obama beat Hillary, she was leading him 3-to-1 in Superdelegates early on until Obama's popularity among voters caused them to switch sides.

As long as people keep donating to his campaign and keep campaigning for him his support will keep growing. The more people talking about "feeling the Bern" on social media the more undecided voters will be likely to join his side. Because their are a lot of people who would love him if they took the time to hear what he has to say. I can't even count how many people I've brought over to his camp. Siblings, parents, extended family, the cashiers at my local convenience store, friends on Facebook, Twitter, I've convinced people to put bumper stickers on their cars, started a drive on FB asking all my friends to donate just $3 apiece the day before Super Tuesday. Stuff like that.

All it takes is enthusiasm. His campaign is growing by itself at a breakneck speed. All you have to do is add your voice to the chorus.
You are pretty inspiring.
:applause:

I am liking that he will lose to hrc decently close so that it keeps his supporters at home or cuases them to protest vote for trump.

You're delusional if you think a chunk of Sanders supporters will vote Trump in the general.

It's like the people who say they'll leave the country.

It doesn't really matter whether Bernie supporters vote for Trump, the Green party, or just skip voting if Hillary wins. Lacking those votes from people who normally vote Democrat combined with the higher Republican voter turnout so far this year will pretty much guarantee a Republican win. The whole "Bernie or Bust" pledge is meant to tell the DNC we all know they're trying to rig a Hillary nomination and Decmorat voters saying if they continue to do that, we'll make sure they lose the Whitehouse. It's a revolt against the party.

I actually know a guy personally whose setting some money aside for a move to Canada if Trump wins. I live right on the border though, so it wouldn't be some super crazy cross-country trip. I can drive to Canada in less than 10 minutes.

There is a grass roots movement called bernie or bust that is organising to do exactly that. It will become popular fast if Billary is nominated. If we can't get a fair election, we will choose the nuclear option . The idea is to elect tge candidate who will destroy the world as quick as he can.that candidate would be Trump of course. If you think nobody has carried out their threat to leave, check the numbers. More than 7 million Americans live abroad.

Speaking of Americans abroad, did you know that there are something like 27 polling stations around the world for them? They finished counting those ballots earlier this week and Bernie Sanders won every. single. delegate. Hillary didn't get a majority of the votes in any foreign country in the world.

Weird I didn't read much about it on any major news sites.

I haven't watched the debate yet. Would you recommend it?
Being an Aussie, i follow the US presidential nominations out of interest, morbid curiosity and in the hope that my American family* and friends get the best candidate. So to me, it's largely entertainment.
But from what you're saying, it sounds worth checking out?

I must admit, after reading a few (apparently reliable) newspaper op-ed pieces last week - all writing Sanders off - I prematurely stopped paying attentiion to the campaign.!
Really pleased with the developments this week though.

I'd be getting active in Bernie's campaign (like you have been, GM) if i lived in the states right now. Good on you (and all those other people) for helping Sanders' bid for nomimation. It's nice having my cynicism in the electoral process challenged - and to see people's commitment and passion for a candidate, and engaging in informed, intelligent conversations about the genuinely important issues.

Quite an achievement in itself, to unite so many people across the USA to get behind his campaign.
Makes me wonder how many disillusioned and apathetic voters (or non-voters) are simply waiting for a candidate to come along with a platform worth getting passionate about? For a long time i suspected that the apathetic electorate had a great deal of responsibility for the fact that we are usually offered the choice between thoroughly uninspiring, party-line-toeing career politicians - but this campaign has opened my eyes - when presented with a substantial alternative, lots of people will get onboard, and get involved.

The Party (democratic or republican) does itself a great disservice by playing it safe, which is becoming hard for anyone to ignore.

I'd definitely recommend watching the debate. I think it was easily one of the best they've had this year. The Moderators were out for blood and hit both candidates with some seriously tough shit. They actually pulled out a video clip of a Bernie interview from 1985 of him saying a few good things about Fidel Castro. Keep in mind this debate was held in Miami and was hosted on the world's largest Latin news station. And they slammed Hillary on a bunch of stuff too. American media moderators play softball compared to what I saw last night.

And you really can't buy into the major news outlets trying to write off Sanders. It's not some wild conspiracy theory when I saw the parent companies of almost all of them have donated to Hillary's campaign. That's public record. CNN's parent company alone has given her $400 million over the years. The problem with their tactic is that the landscape of news and information has changed. So many people get their information from the internet now, and it's so easy for whistleblowers and observers to point out their bias to others, that they can only manipulate so much before their shady reporting is overtaken by the groundswell of people on social media calling them out. Social media IS the media nowadays. Once people start getting behind a cause like they are getting behind Bernie's campaign, there's really no stopping it. It's been growing so fast while the news outlets keep telling people he has no chance that everyone is going to be shocked when he starts looking like the favorite to win. They'll chalk it up to "miraculous unexpected wins" in some key states Hillary was expected to win big in and then the whole narrative will change. Mark my words.

When you watch the debate, pay close attention to when they play the 1985 video of Bernie talking about Castro. He gets a short time to respond, and then Hillary follows up by saying "In that interview you also said blahblahblahblah."

How the hell would she possibly know what he said in the unaired portions of a 31-year-old obscure video almost nobody has ever seen? I have zero doubt the network tipped her campaign off that they were going to show that video so she could prepare ahead of time to try to slam Bernie on it. She follows up by basically trying to tie Fidel Castro, human rights atrocities in Cuba, Communism, and Bernie together. Shady shit. I mean the head moderator's daughter works for Clinton's campaign for Christ's sake.

Thanks for the recommendation - i'll have to watch it now!

That does certainly sound like the odds were deliberately stacked in her favour - and i totally agree with what you're saying about the companies having a vested interest, to take it all with a grain of salt.
What you are describing sounds like damage control - on the parts of both the network and Clinton.

Traditional forms of journalism - and the corporate industries that support them - are desperately trying to cope with the various threats to their livelihood and their very existence, from technology.
Likewise, Hillary is making a last-ditch attempt to salvage her career. I would be suprised if she continued to pursue her political career if she fails to win the nomination.
In desperately attempting to save each other's skins, they may simply prove to the public - upon whom they are reliant - how out irrelevant and outmoded each is.
I wont get a chance to watch the debate for myself until tomorrow (my time) - but look forward to it. Sounds shifty - and i hope other people pick up on these details too, and spread the word.

Let me know your thoughts after you watch it.

And I think you're absolutely right; them trying to save each others' skins is going to eventually be their undoing. I don't think support for Bernie or hatred for Hillary and the networks would be nearly as severe as it's becoming if they just stopped digging themselves deeper into the hole of manipulation they've created.

^I don't think I have ever been as disgusted by a moderator as in the last debate. I kept shouting LET HIM ANSWER! when she would cut Bernie off. I was also appalled at some of the things Hilary was saying--her dropping of the Koch brothers over and over was a very cheap shot.
