anyone watching the MLS now that it is on tv more often? I see it replacing baseball in popularity sooner than later

The Union are one of the worst teams in the league but I like CJ Sapong as a player. same with Maidana, hes the man

the entire league needs to sign more high named players and that comes with increased profits. the mls is only going to get bigger

I live down the street from Columbus Crew Stadium so it is quite popular around my parts

I go to a game about once a year. it's pretty fun if you can wade through all the Mexicans

don't really have much else to say - big Crew fan here

Its pretty cool the MLS is actually a somewhat respectable league now

I just think it would be funny and ironic if all the best players came here to play and it was still the 3rd most popular sport

Baseball is going to lose a lot of fan interest to the MLS, you'd have to wear suspenders and be retired for 10 years to think baseball is a better entertainment value than soccer

Then again it depends on what you want out of a baseball game. I like watching guys sockin dingers just as much as the next guy but in no way am I trying to watch a 2-1 yawn fest with both runs coming off one swing and the other on a bases loaded walk. Sweet dude

There isnt a single Union player in the all star game. I would have liked to see Maidana in there. I mean he's from Argentina so he's gotta be good

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hinted about coming to the US. With Drogba and Girard here it could get interesting. If Beckham's first signing in Miami is big Z you'd think there'd be a lot of interest from some rather good players..

Eh, its still a far drop off from the top 6-7 leagues to the MLS.

As long as they sign players on the decline in their careers instead of in their prime, it won't be taken seriously

Not to mention, Concacaf has its own champions league so we dont even get to see an actual competition with stuff at stake between UEFA and the MLS

It's a retirement league and nothing more. The Seniors tour of soccer if you like.

The preseason tours by almost full strength European giants is more interesting, even though they play for only shits and giggles

Thats only because we haven't convinced black people to play soccer yet but more and more of them are realizing theyre too small to go pro in our football sooner and focusing on sports they can actually still dominate in like lacrosse and soccer

Give them time

It does to me though because I live here

I dont care if its not as good, its my "not as good"

They dont call fouls nearly as much in the MLS as they do in Europe

Thats reason enough for me to like it

Andre Blake looked pretty nice in goal for the union's 1-0 win over Montreal. Le Toux scored a typical Le Toux goal, not pretty at all but it gets to the back of the net

Chaco Maidana leads the league in assists, hes an all star in my book

I got to see Drogba's first game in the mls, all he really did was launch a free kick wide right

CHACCCOOOO

im just glad the union stuck with traditional US naming traditions and dont have some euro theme to their name. None of this FC or Sporting or Real bullshit, just pick a mascot and put the city in front of it

They need to Americanize soccer for the MLS to really have a chance at ever being overly popular

I think they should get rid of ties. Have the games go to a 15 minute OT period with golden goal rules and follow that with a shootout

Ties just seem european to me
