I played as a kid. HUGE hockey fan though. Only sport I follow. Every position required such skill compared to other sports. Each skater from 1-18 is so good and that just isn't the case in say basketball where you have your top guys and then some scrubs or football where you got skill positions like CB, WR, QB, maybe TE and then the offensive and defensive line that are just real big, strong guys.

Being from NJ, I'm a big Devils fan. Only team that will rep NJ. Fuck the Jets, Giants and even the lame ass Red Bulls. They all shun their true home to pander to the NY media.

Unfortunately I have no friends and as such never have anyone to talk hockey with. The couple people I know that I got interested in hockey, just don't have the passion or knowledge of the game that I have and the minute I mention Fenwick, Corsi, IPP or something like that, I get that blank stare of 'I don't care', lol.

To comment on league news: Fuck Chris Kreider. He sucks. How does Marchand get 2 games and Kreider doesn't even get a call from DOPS? He's run a few goalies and boarded a few guys now and has yet to be suspended. He boarded Jonas Brodin very similarly to how he boarded Soderberg the other night.

I really hope the Rags either just miss the playoffs or pull the Isles in the 1st round where they'll get pounded. Then the Isles will lose because they still only have like a 19th rated defense by GAA and the past several Cup winners have all been top 5-10 I believe. So sorry Isles fans, not happening.

Been neglecting to update the thread as I've been off using and abusing, then regreting, vomiting and defecating! It hasn't seemed to matter as it appears no one other than myself reads this thread, but I shall continue on in my noble cause anyways.

There was a few trades around the league recently with the trade deadline approaching. The big news is a blockbuster trade between Buffalo and Winnipeg with Evander Kane as the centerpiece. It was a long time coming for Kane, with rumors of attitude issues and a fracture in the locker room swirling for years.

The Trade:

To Buffalo:
LW - Evander Kane
37GP 10-12-22

D - Zach Bogosian
41GP 3-10-13

G - Jason Kasdorf
Unsigned college goaltender; is 9-14-0 with a .900 save percentage for RPI. The Sabres will hold his rights while he remains in college and for 30 days after he leaves school.


To Winnipeg:
D - Tyler Myers
48GP 4-9-13

RW - Drew Stafford
51GP 9-15-24

RW - Joel Armia
Selected in the first round (No. 16) of the 2011 draft by the Sabres. The Finnish forward (6-foot-3, 192 pounds) has 10 goals and 25 points in 32 games with the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League; he played one game for the Sabres this season. According to the Jets, Armia will report to their AHL affiliate in St. John's, Newfoundland.

LW - Brendan Lemiux
Selected in the second round (No. 31) of the 2014 draft by the Sabres, has 35 goals, 50 points and 120 penalty minutes in 46 games for the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League. He is the son of former NHL player Claude Lemieux. He's also unsigned, so the Jets would need to agree on an entry-level contract before the 2016 draft.

2015 1st rd pick - Conditional; whichever is the lowest of Buffalo's 1st rd picks


Oddly, this was Kevin Cheveldayoff's first player trade since becoming GM of the Winnipeg Jets.

Buffalo later traded Jhonas Enroth to Dallas for Anders Lindback and a conditional 3rd round pick in a swap of goaltenders.

Tampa traded goaltender Evgeni Nabokov in exchange for future considerations in a bid to allow him to retire with the San Jose Sharks, which is the organization he entered the NHL with when they drafted him in the 9th round of the 1994 NHL draft; he was the 219th overall pick that year. It's always a great story when someone who is picked as late in the draft as Nabokov was. That year there was only 15 players selected after Nabokov in the 9th and last round of that draft in '94.

In other NHL news, there was a suspension handed down by the NHL DoPS to Antoine Roussel of the Dallas Stars for a cross check to the head of Boston's Adam McQuaid; Roussel was suspended for 2 games.

Last bit of news important news is the recent injury of Henrik Lundqvist. He took a puck to the throat in a strange play where his mask happened to be lifted by teammate Ryan Mcdonaugh's stick a moment before the puck reached Lundqvist. The team is saying that he is out for at least 3 weeks due to what is being called a vascular injury by the team. The injury is thought to be a burst blood vessel.

A fairly major trade between Nashville and Toronto was made yesterday.

Toronto decided to move out a couple expiring contracts in Franson and Santorelli in exchange for Nashville's 2015 1st rd pick, Olli Jokinen and forward prospect Brenden Leipsic.


To Toronto:

• LW - Brandon Leipsic

Height: 5'9" Weight: 165 Shoots: Left Age: 20; Selected 89th overall in the 3rd round of the 2012 NHL draft by the Nashville Predators.

Milwaukee Admirals: 7-28-35 in 47 GP; Total Salary: $642,000; Prorated: $195,731

Leipsic is a small, energetic winger who hits everything that moves and makes life miserable for his opponents. The speedy forward is offensively skilled, a gifted finisher, and can produce on the power play. He needs to add strength, more consistency throughout the season, and play on the edge without going over the line. The physical winger could project into a top-six forward at the NHL level but at worst, a checker with some offensive upside. While his draft year wasn't a huge one offensively with only 58 points in 65 games, he exploded in 2012-13 playing with Nicolas Petan, putting up 49-71-120 in 68 GP. They played together again in the 2013-14 season and while he didn't improve his point totals, he still managed a very respectable 39-52-91 in 60 GP to finish his WHL career having averaged 1.18ppg in his time in the league.

Height: 6'2" Weight: 210lbs Shoots: Left Age: 36; Selected 3rd overall in the 1st round of the 1997 NHL draft by the LA Kings.

Nashville Predators: 3-3-6 48 GP; Total Salary: $2.5M; Salary Owed:$762,195

Jokinen signed a one-year contract with the Predators last summer and would also be a UFA in July. He has struggled quite a bit this year after posting a respectable 18-25-43 while playing in all 82 last season with the Winnipeg Jets. It is rumored that Jokinen is not happy to have been traded to Toronto and may refuse to report.

Jokinen's decline may be in part be the result of awful puck luck which, seeing that he's only scored on 3.6% of his shots this season, may be true. Has been one of the best FA signings of last summer and his contract is one that provides great value. His contract expires after this year and if he makes it to July 1st, will be one of the most sought after UFAs this summer as he is a very versatile player capable of playing in the middle or on the wing while chipping in on offense enough to play on the 2nd or 3rd line.​
