2011 New Albums - Discussion

I guess there isn't much love for The King of Limbs
I thought it was a good album just not as intense and more of a mellow chilled out Radiohead album, also the live version of the album from the basement is so fucking good imo

I thought Take Care x3 from Explosions In The Sky was alright, my favorite from them would still have to be How Strange, Innocence

Like others have mentioned, Green Naugahyde is cool and also Helplessness Blues by Fleet Foxes

Battles album Gloss Drop was pretty awesome imo, I seen them live in 07 and what a fucking show those guys put on

I'll add some more later

They have an EP out called Earth Division. There's a song on there with vocals that wasn't so great.

I just listened to this the other day, sounds very underdeveloped. Have you heard of Idiot Pilot? There a good band, at first i felt the same but there was a major draw to them i couldn't shake. They have only two albums, I'm hoping the third and final comes out this year

I agree. I love it. Sometimes I'm just really in the mood to listen to it. I'm glad it exists.

It's not like they could have bettered In Rainbows doing an "In Rainbows" sound.

Fucking dope.

Any other JMT fans around here?

new Deicide album was good, new Morbid Angel was terrible.

Im eagerly awaiting the "new" Control Denied album, though its just previously unreleased material. R.I.P. Chuck Schuldiner.

Favorite albums of 2011?

Well since 2011 is coming to an end, (thank fuck) I'd like to hear what your guys' favorite albums released this year are. My favorite album of the year would definitely have to be Fair to Midlands Arrows and Anchors and some other gooders in no particular order:

All Shall Perish - This is Where it Ends
The Devil Wears Prada - Dead Throne
Chevelle - Hats off to the Bull
In Flames - Sounds of a Playground Fading
Snow Patrol - Fallen Empires

Some disappointments were

Radiohead - The King of Limbs (I had such high hopes for this album since In Rainbows was so good, but I didn't like it at all. I don't think there was a single song I liked. Sounds more like Thom Yorkes solo stuff than Radiohead, which I don't like at all)
Blink 182 - Neighborhoods (not like I really expected much from this though)
Death Cab For Cutie - Codes and Keys
Alkaline Trio - Damnesia

What do you think?

I really love King of Limbs. Then again, I really like The Eraser. You might want to watch the KOL Live set on DVD or catch it on Palladia. I think Lotus Flower might be their best song ever.

I had a whole Top 20 list, meticulously planned out and perfected...but then I bought the Neutral Milk Hotel boxed set (WITH Jeff Mangum-signed LP of "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" [I can die happy now!]) so that pretty much topped my decade, let alone my year.
