2011-2012 football thread

sods law, happens to me too all the time, is pretty much why I stopped gambling as it ends up just being like the lottery otherwise, making bets every weekend on the football and then the amounts increasing more and more. It can be profitiable, there are professional gamblers that bet just on sports but it's not a good route to go down. lots of stress.

I was doing really well for a while. My winnings were covering the ones I lost on. Won a few hundred quid in a month probably. Since then a) I've not been keeping track of the football enough to place reliable bets, and b) my luck seems to have gone to shit. With football you need to be watching the scores every game though if not there's far less chance of winning.

A couple of my mates gambling habbits really puts me off anyway. The lad will throw £250+ down no problem on a game of roulette. I mean not really like there's any skill to that is it? One of his mates is even worse, lost 10k in a night! His dad is a lawyer in Las Vegas though so it's alright 8)

Did you ever get involved in the matched betting that Spade won a heap of money on?

I did used to do "ARBing", - matched betting, its guaranteed profit but you need a lot of money to start with to win high amounts and for the time I couldnt be arsed spending ages winngins 30s, 50s, etc, pretty much every account is banned now online apart from skybet and paddypower, im stupid though, I win alot, mostly in play games but I just dont withdraw its jsut pure greed, I lump it all on something else always looking for the top payout. I was winning consistently on sport, then had a really bad weekend, about £600 down then I kept chasing and chasing and chasing, one week ive £3.2k in my account about 2 weeks later ive a £1k loan out and im £-750 into my overdraft.

When I get paid and a few other things on the side come back in I know ill get right back into it though, just went through a large period of greed looking for 20k+ payoffs etc and then just chasing. Sports In play is probally the only money maker, youll get lucky on roulette now and then but youll get unlucky more often and its not something you can make a living off. This kid makes a living off betting and hes only about 22, the thing is once you start making profit you just get banned.

This guy got a total from his bookies and hes staked over £1m hes only a student but like anyone has bad weeks and can lose £10k in a week easy,
 
I did do a bit of matched betting rockstar, made a few hundred from it, problem was cashflow and being tempted to actually gamble rather than stick to the matched betting.

I would love to have enough of a bankroll to do ARBing fulltime, it is easy no risk money and the bookies don't care about it as you are going to be betting all over the net anyway and in every arb one at least one bookie makes money and one bookie doesn''t, they encourage ARBers actually.
 
Odds are shite just looked, barca 7/10 or chelsea 7/2. Could do a scorecast messi to score first but the odds are still pants probably.

Reckon Barca will beat them 2-0

Although bookies do close winning accounts, they're far more likely to shut down the arbers. Particularly those whose bots make hundreds of bets a day without their raising a finger once they've programmed the infernal machines. Since the exchange explosion, we have the phenomenon of gamblers without interest in either the sporting event on which they bet or its result and I, for one, am quite happy to see these speculator parasites banned. If by 'matched betting' you mean staking and laying the same event with a collection of sign-up free bets, I can only agree with you about its limited potential. There are sites that scour every bookies list and every event for anomalies in the odds but the margins are small and only big bank artists find it worthwhile to persevere. Even then. you may have difficulty making that large wager at advertised odds on Portugese college basketball games or the like.

So far so good ey? Seems like barca have about 14 people on the pitch though, I had £1.46 left in my account so went for the drogba hatrick at 100/1 ;)
 
Barca dominating possession but chelsea have been good at the back so far. What an amount of fb status's saying how shit Drogba is lol classic spoke too soon moment when he scores :D
 
Hate him for the antics he just displayed for 46 minutes but he scores a serious amount of goals on the big stage. Funny watching Torres rolling his eyes at Drogba just before.

Fabregas and Alexi should have the game wrapped up already.
 
To be honest drogba is fucking annoying to watch, hes been on the floor probally about 15 times now screaming and shouting like hes just been shot, wastes so much time, chelsea plastics singing about barca cheating irony
