So I know SWIM is "1disallowed" and offers absolutely no protection from the law , so in this thread I'm using it for brevity and accuracy. I'm on suboxone, so I'm not using other opiate/opioids. My buddy takes Bupe, too, 8mg/day, though he claims he needs more due to mild to moderate discomfort. Anyway SWIM/buddy missed his sub Dr. and has been taking a vacation in IV-land. He's gotten rushes from both the D and the M over the past few days, from doses as low as 4mg D or 50mg M, to as high as ~36mg D or 400mg M.

Today he took both together in one shot, 200mg of M and 8mg D. This was at least eight hours after his last shot, which was also smallholder. He didn't miss. No bump, no pain, perfect flag, reflagged half way through. All was clear (lol, except the flagged blood). But not even the tiniest hint of a rush. What happened? It feels/looks nothing like a miss; indeed, it looked like a perfect example of how to hit a vein properly!

Two hours on, there's a lot of sedation, a strong nod. But that could just be sleep dep from not crashing last night.

opioid tolerance

The reason I find that hard to accept as the cause of the abject lack of rush is this:

Even at my "junkiest", when I was shooting 30-40mg of dilaudid 2-3 times a day, as long as I waited at least 6 hours, there'd be some rush. If I waited 8, there'd be nearly the full rush.

Tolerance doesn't make a rush go away completely, especially over only a few days of use. There would be some rush from 200mg M and 8mg D. I've never actually hit a vein after 8 hours, with at least an average dose, and got NO rush. Why did it happen to him?

Is that even possible..i mean to forget the rush of a 200mg shot of morphine and 8mg of Dillies, lol. Maybe he didn't wait long enough in between shots, so the rush was diminished kinda...or was it his first one? And how long has he been off the subs?? Guesing he takes Sublingly so it could still be lingering around in his system diminishing the rush, I find I can still get a rush if I just bang half a milligram of bupe in the morning, wait 12 hours, and I can feel my DOC, even if it's Hydrocodone!

maybe you were not concentrating and forgot the rush...?
Lol, no, I wouldn't "forget" a rush. :P I don't think anyone would/could.

And he'd been off the Bupe long enough to get rushes previously, and one after with just 200 mg morphine (no dilaudid) so 'tis definitely not due to tolerance.

Would love to understand...
