amsterdam would be great too, i just really dig the idea of a bunch of us in a castle for a week, and what a fucking venue for a party...although, what if we don't like each other, and then we are stuck together...maybe not a good idea after all.
 
rENTING HOUSES AND APARTMENTS SOUNDS A LONG TERM TYPE THING , HOW LONG IS THIS GONNA GO ON , i WOULD HAVE THOUGHT A LONG WEEKEND THEN THOSE WITH THE TIME , MONEY AND INCLINATION CAN STAY ON.

So who's going to do all the cooking for 30+ people if you decide to stay in a castle? Or are you just going to take a few limosines into town to eat? lol.

i am going for two weeks if i go to europe. i am not wasting all my vacation on you losers :D

and i love to cook, and would love to for so many people! but yeah, everyone should def rent a car, or plan on getting with someone who agrees to tote them everywhere they need to go. we should plan on fending for ourself.

if i am flying to europe, its going to be atleast a week long affair. i imagine most US BLers would feel the same.

i think having people rent house, apartments, hotels or whatever on their own is a good idea. i also think a private board is a good idea. and this needs to atart being planned soonish if we really want it to happen... like we should pick a location and a time frame. we could also do this soon than 09 if everyone is so inclined...

Yeah you have a point 2009 is a way off it seems maybe go for a smaller one in 2007 and build upon it of course then all the U.S. guys (perfectly reasonably as well) would be saying "sod europe lets have it in the states this time".
Try 2008 then in say September.
Other possible destinatioins are Spain or Portugal at a beach site, camping or hotel room , gives the poor among us (by that I mean me ) a better chance of staying for a week.

I think it should be either June or September. July and August are just too busy in Europe as it is. May would be better than June, but not sure if people would be able to get over at that time?
 
No June is too early the schools break up in late July in England. Anyway who wants to take the kids , what you want is someone to look after them, which is just as easy/difficult to do whether they're at school, or not.

^not quite. what if you live in california and your inlaws live in maine? during the summer you can send your kid to stay with them, but during the school year they would miss too much school...

i think a warm month would be nice. having a meetup in the dead of winter wouldn't be fun IMO.
 
no family near me, they can't miss school, and others will have that problem.

i will be taking my kids though, if we go to europe they will be going, wouldn't dream of letting them miss it. we would bring my sis, or a nanny, it would be a long vacation, so only a few days are spent without them, but just as many would be family only.

i didn't realize the school year over there went through july. ours are starting back late july early august.

well, someone will get screwed, either way. no biggie, can't work around everyone.

though, i prefer americans and aussies get a little leniency, since we will be making a longer and more expensive trip. just a thought.
 
^its going to be impossible to work around everyone's school schedule. because you also have year round schools and other screwy schedules... summer is good for everyone who is in uni/college too.

i vote july. then it can animal_cookie's birthday and global meetup ;)
 
No point on being too lenient towards the Aussies. At that time of the year it's winter and people there would only get 2 weeks school holidays in July. Judging by the replies from the Aussies who are keen on going, none of us are students (correct me if I'm wrong), and even if I was at that time (I doubt I will be in Australia), I would just say fuck it and go.
