I agree that we need to find a middle ground, that is why I thought that Europe would have been it. For the life of me I can't see how Thailand can be perceived as middle ground. Sure, once there, costs take a dive. It's not just the cost of Pepsi in the morning though. Aside from the much higher cost of air travel, you also have to rely on "giving mice cookies" in order to "stay safe". Don't misunderstand me, I have no doubt that those living there feel safe and know all the ins and outs of the local "system" to live a very liberal and care free life. I came from a place not too different in that respect and I've travelled a bit, so I know how. The problem is it still leaves things (read: your fate) to chance. I don't feel like waking up one morning and realising that someone with a political agenda has fed/bribed the mice more than I did and now the mice have decided to gnaw my limbs off. If I'm going to a place where word will spread (inevitably) that a large gathering of kande kids are gathering, I want to be absolutely sure that, in case of trouble, I can rely on the legal system in place, not bribe money I may not have enough of, to get me out safely. This can't always be said for Thailand, as far as I'm aware. Everything is happy go lucky until the shit hits the fan. Then, you may be shit out of luck. At least in any first world country, if I'm unlucky enough to fall prey to some overzealous person of local authority, I know I can pick up the phone and dial Johnny (Cochrane) and get bail and be home by dinner time, instead of spending weeks or months in a hot, sweaty cell contemplating how I should have fed the mice more.AmorRoark said:What it all comes down to is it's going to expensive for some no matter where it takes place. Europe may seem like a middle ground between Australia and America, but it really isn't. If we keep in mind things like exchange rates (as long as they stay the same way they are now), the upshoot of airfare costs and other inevitable costs... it is unlikely that many Americans will be able to afford a European vacation.
I think in order to be fair to the largest amount of bluelighters, we should rationalize where *most* of the attendees would be coming from... I'm not sure how we could go about figuring that out but I'm guessing administrators have access to the numbers of posters from the various regions.
Personally, I'm all up for crashing xtcxtc's abode. I think he's smart enough to know if you give a mouse a cookie...![]()

ok bad joke, so forreal...i am so up for europe/amsterdam, if you bluelighters suck in person, or if for some odd reason, noone thinks i am as brilliant as I do....it would still be a fabulous trip, and not at all a waste of money!!

Lord of the Flies - with DRUGS!
Watch in horror as the lawless druggies split into different camps. Cheer on the meth-heads as they fight the crackheads on the beach in a battle for supremacy. Laugh at the hippies as they struggle for survival in a harsh world. Recoil in horror at the smackheads resorting to cannibalism.
