2005 Mlb!

2004 WS Champs! What a joke! If I may be so bold, the Sox wont make the playoffs this year! Yes even if its only the 1st game of the year!

i dont particularly care for watching sports on tv (unless im surrounded by my favorite drunk neghbors) but i make SURE i at LEAST catch 4 or 5 tribe games at the jake. there is nothing like getting standing room tix and hanging out at the beer garden all afternoon... then going home and noticing the serious farmers tan you're rockin.

eek yay

I suddenly remember why baseball season turns me into an alcoholic every year.

But also please remember that this is the 5th year in a row the Red Sox have lost the opening game... that don't mean shit. Last year they lost the opening game and won the World Series, anything can happen between now and October.

BELIEVE!!!! mothafuckas

oh yeah and my hand is about to fall off from writing every Red Sox game this season into my day planner. i have to go to the boston sports bar out here to see about 98% of the games on tv, most of which start 30 minutes before work gets out. d'oh.

Us red sox fans had our day in the sun. Now it's time to move on with our lives and accept the fact we're still losers. I'll become a fair weather fan once again if they make it to the play-offs.

I have a feeling they're just trying to nail a little guy that won't really affect the game, to show that they're "really enforcing the policy".

Agreed.

What really sucks about all this is the "wink wink" krap going on between MLB, the players' association and Congress. Congress made a stink about it to make a big show, Selig and Fehr wrung their hands and publicly fretted, MLB busted some nobody and now business goes on as usual.

It's ridiculous how these megastar-moneysigns get so many bites at the apple without any legal consequences whatsoever under the current testing regime. If Congress REALLY wanted to do something about it, they would threaten to repeal the antitrust exemption unless MLB installed a REAL commissioner who wasn't one of the good ol' boys.

Just goes to show once again that money talks in this country, and all the rest is just bullshit windowdressing.

ESPNews Funfact:

53% of all MLB products/paraphenelia/apparel/etc bought is Yanks or Sox. I think they said it's 31% - 22% Yanks - Sox

One day, Jhonny Peralta will be a great player and maybe a good shortstop. Today was not that day. Blew the damn game.

Westbrook pitched a gem though. He keeps getting better and better.

Aaron Boone played an excellent game at 3B also.
