2005 Mlb!

That's a good read, SC.

And yeah, tons of ESPN's shit is all on their "insider" premium access. I was pissed when they put Neyer's articles on insider. If they put Gammons on insider I swear to god I'll flip and boycott ESPN.com. I get giddy like a school child every time there is a new Gammons article, lol.

Joe - You're a good man for responding despite my taunting, lol. :) The Yanks are a mess.. just a fucking mess. The Sox aren't sitting pretty either, with Renteria right now looking like the worst off season signing.. and our 1/2 pitchers, both aging, out with nagging injuries. Hell, our last 2 starters were released by Tampa Bay!

I don't see any of these new young guys doing much of anything for the Yanks. Maybe they can prove themselves enough at the big league level to be trade bait to a small market team.. but damn, Cano's error tonight didn't help at all.

Hey, at least A-Rod has 10 HR's. ;)

You can at least look foward to some positives TR, schilling coming back and all that jazz. What do I have to look foward to, the yanks overpaying some budget ass starter? I actually have money with my friend right now that by the end of may kevin brown's era will be in double digits. Now I took the single digits, aint lookin to good for me tho, aint lookin fuckin good:X :X Fucking shitty ass yankees and shitty ass ny football giants. This year is off to a rough start.

btw, my year begins on opening day football and ends at the world series, so my new year parties are always a little interesting. My lack on sense in this post deals with me being up almost 3 days in a row doing massive amounts of semester projects, thank you and good nite:D

Hey TopRocka - with Bronson pitching so well, Schilling on that way back, Miller Time this Sunday, and Wake pitching better than ever - who we going to demote? Clement? Wells?
Betcha it's Bronson!

Unfortunately it's Arroyo. He'll go to the bullpen, and hopefully we'll release Neal.

It's REALLY tough to fucking swallow. He's our stopper right now.

But you can't take Wake out.. you Clement has pitched like once or twice in his career in relief..Miller's goin to be starting.

I mean it's not a bad problem to have. We could be the Yanks and starting High Schoolers on our MLB rotation. :)

I'm not enjoying this.

I am absolutely fucking loving this.

First the Sox come back from a 3-0 defecit to beat the Yankees in the ALCS, and go on to win the world series.

Now, the Yanks are in dead fucking last place in the east. 9 games out. And it's May.

And although I recognize Joe as the resident "good guy" Yankee fan.. I can't help but say..

HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

..AHEM...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHHHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHA!!!!!

I LOVE THIS GAME! (sorry nba ;) )

well...this is one subject all non-yankee fans can enjoy. :)

Keep the slide going green n gold!

Im truely in shock. The yankees just aren't winning games. We may be witnessing the biggest, whats the term im looking for.... DISSAPOINTMENT> Yes, we may be witnessing the biggest DISSAPOINTMENT ever in any sport.

its a long season gentlemen, and yes, they have had a disappointing start, the year is far from over. who knows where wells and schilling will be at the end of the year. i do think that it will be tougher this year to be the wildcard from the east. the twins, white sox and orioles will hopefully at least make it interesting.

Baseball set to name World Cup the 'World Baseball Classic'
By RONALD BLUM, AP Sports Writer
May 10, 2005

NEW YORK (AP) -- Major league baseball and its union are ready to give a go-ahead to starting their international tournament next year and will name it the World Baseball Classic.

Management and the players' association planned to announce the 16-nation event after Wednesday's owners' meeting in New York, a high-ranking baseball official said Tuesday on condition of anonymity. Owners gave their preliminary approval Aug. 19, and baseball hopes to have agreements in place that will allow a formal launch of the tournament to take place during the All-Star break in July.

Planning for the tournament, which has been generally referred to as the Baseball World Cup, has been in the works for several years, but the process has moved slowly. Major league baseball originally hoped to launch the tournament in 2005, then pushed it up to 2006.

Wednesday's announcement was first reported by Baseball America on its Web site Tuesday.

Major league baseball and the union already have reached an agreement with the International Baseball Federation to have international drug testing standards for players during the event, which will be played in March, during spring training.

Participation in the tournament will be voluntary.

Japan has not yet formally decided whether it will participate, a Japanese baseball official said, also on condition anonymity, although Japan is likely to send a team to the tournament.

One of the four first-round groups will be played in Asia, the other three in the United States.

I've been looking forward to this ever since they first started talking about it. Should be cool as long as it doesn't extend the baseball season too much deeper into the winter months.

the funny thing is, and i have written at great length about this before (usually when someone has tried to be witty by saying mlb isn't international - sorry, canada, apparently many many people think you're part of the USA) is that the only people who really have ever seen this as an issue are the japanese, who haven't been interested in it since the early/mid 70s.

however, i, and just about everyone else, welcome it. bring it on!

Farewell, Tony Pena. I'm glad for him. Really, I am. I think he's a genius for hitting the lifeboats so early.

So who's going to jump next from this mess?

yeah, probably about 2 weeks or so. any idea what 16 countries want to field a team? will team rosters be filled like world hockey rosters?

No idea. That's a good question. I would speculate...

USA
Canada
Dominican Republic
Cuba
Japan
The philippines
South Korea
Australia
China
Singapore

That's all I can think of. Probably some more of the smaller central American countries and a few from Europe. Would Puerto Rico have their own team or would their players be on the U.S. squad?
