Saw this about a week ago... They were saying Minneapolis has some of the highest quality and lowest price heroin in the U.S... This is obviously somewhat misleading since we all know that most Minneapolis heroin comes from Chitown. They were specifically talking about black tar heroin on the south side of Minneapolis, I guess there are probably a small amount of Mexicans bringing black tar directly here. However, I have never even seen black tar here...only Mexican brown and SA White powder.

Here is a link to the video. I must warn you, the people that they do the stories on are very low functioning, pitiful addicts. They make it seem as though it is impossible to have a life when using opiates. We all know this is a lie, and that there are millions of people out there benefiting greatly from powerful opiates. It's too bad a small handful of losers who have no self control and are basically just un-intelligent have to ruin it for the rest of us.

Riiiiight. highest quality and lowest prices in the entire country, in minneapolis. L-O-Fuckin-L. Wow, how completely ignorant about the heroin trade in the US could they possibly be?

where next is the new 'super powerful cheap heroin mecca"? Sleepy Meadows, Missisippi? Little Sweden, North dakota? the idea that a place like that would be a place where high purity low price heroin is easily available is so damn ridiculous. logically it dont even fuckin make sense. Why would a land locked place like that in the mid west, so far away from everything, nowhere near any ports where the heroin comes into the country, that requires large amounts of transporting and traveling to get heroin to it, be a place that is where its at for dope?

And they are talkin about TAR? Everybody knows that pretty much as a rule, tar tends to be lower quality than powder. Yea, i know that there is really fire tar and compared to some shitty cut up powder it might be higher purity. But were talkin here about the high quality, very clean high purity powder you find in the port cities on the east coast, vs some tar that travels from chitown across a bunch of states and gets cut the fuck up passing thru mad hands on the way to some bum-ass little north midwestern city? common fuckin sense yo, that shit just aint logical.

Im so tired of hearin these stories every damn time the news runs out of somethin interesting to talk about. They just pick and damn city that has heroin in it, which is every and any city in the US, and then claim that "new, deadly potent heroin is flooding the streets, and cheaper than ever before" in So and So city/town. we all know, and it been common knowledge since forever, that the shit in the nyc metro area is the highest purity in the US. Baltimore is a close second, usually like 10% less pure, but Jersey/NYC/Philly has always been recognized by the DEA and all the people who watch this type of shit, as consistently always being the place where the highest purity dope is available at street level. But there is TONS of cities other than in the area Im talkin about with way better of quality dope than fucking Minneapolis, gimme a fuckin break yo. with cities like newark/the whole state of NJ, NYC, Philly, baltimore, chicago, etc, and they talk about minneapolis....Wat a fuckin joke.

BTW, your post didnt have a link in it. I see that you meant to post one but it didnt show up. The format we use in DITM is that you quote a part of the article thats relevant, not the entire thing, but you actually have to post some of the actual article not just tell us about it, and then post a link to the source. :) Youll get the hang of it eventually. Its OK to post yor coments but you have to actually post the article too in the OP, so just add some of the article and the link into your post there and it will be just fine.

I didn't even bother to read the second post. To the OP:

You are an asshole. Ya, maybe this 20/20 makes opiate kids looks bad, but to call these people losers for having an opiate addiction?!?! Get a fucking clue. Sure, there might be plenty of BL kids out there who can inform themselves and handle their personal chemical issues. BUT, that gives you no right to shit on people with genuine psychological/chemical problems. The real heat of the issue is that many people here--opiate users and otherwise--have the exact same problems. They are simply "functioning addicts." So, not only is it totally inappropriate for you to ridicule people with serious addiction problems, but its even more ridiculous for you and other people here to blame outward addicts for tarnishing your image as users, when many of "you" are absolutely no different in that you bear the same dependency, but simply maintain the ability to hide your abuse/addiction better.

I am a complete supporter of BL and its harm reduction initiative, but for arrogant people like you to start blaming other users for your bad reputation is absolutely unacceptable. Sure, you may be able to conduct your day-to-day lives in a more professional manner, but to show absolutely no compassion for people like these with genuine addiction struggles is completely inhumane.

I swore I would never post on BL again for the legality issues that could arise down the road, but I had to sign back in one last time to put this ridicule to shame. Bottom line, it may not be your day-to-day, but that grants you no right to ridicule these people who are genuinely suffering. Learn the principles of compassion. The response to this 20/20 (which I agree is mostly a propaganda scheme and a general advertisement for the treatment facility that all of these kids in the segment are going to) is absolutely sickening.

I hope to God none of you know anyone this deep into addiction, and that none of you ever get yourself (or consider yourself) this deep into addiction, because its a truly saddening and depressing sickness. I know we are all here to exchange knowledge, be social, and form a community... but to deny the short sides of our community behavior is not only stupid, but also down-right offensive to anyone who knows a god damn thing about the genuine drug community.

I love you people and the knowledge that you offer, so I feel that it is acceptable to expect that you treat each other, as well as outsiders in the same "community", with respect.

Sure the media hypes drug issues way out of proportion, but that doesn't mean we, as chemical explorers, need to shed our human compassion in a similar manner and disregard those who truly need knowledge and compassionate support/assistance.

I think the OP's point was to point out that they purposely picked addicts that were not functioning members of society to make heroin use look bad, but I agree the choice of words was not very kind or understanding.

It's impossible to know what these people may be going through and to say they are losers because they turned to heroin to solve their problems and became so enslaved to it is an uneducated statement.

Many of us here at BL have been or are slaves to one drug or another at times and it's something that can happen to anyone who goes down the path of drug addiction, which really isn't a path, but a never ending hole that is very hard to climb out of.

So to the OP, you may not have meant it, but you should be a little more understanding, if not at least more wise in your choice of words.

Here's the link to ABC's site which has it:
http://abc.go.com/watch/2020/SH559026/VD5594303/teens-hooked-on-heroin

I assume this may be a bit better quality than youtube, but it has commercials.

I laughed when they said 100 hits of heroin because who the fuck knows exactly what that is? I don't know if the tar she gets is 50% pure or 5% pure, so 100 hits could be anything.... She said she spent like $100/day on it and if you watch it it'll mention the price, which I'll omit here, but it essentially equaled 6-7 of what seemed like .1 bags. So even if the dope was just as good as Jersey shit, which it sure as shit ain't, she'd not even be doing a bun a day. In reality what she's doing is probably half the quality that us East coasters get, so it would be equivalent to 5-6 bags a day, which is barely anything at all. Not to downplay her addiction, but really, that's not that bad....

china white is the only real heroin

mexican black tar is as good as their shwag weed

anybody whos addicted to tar needs to be shown some real drugs, preferably DOB

dr.dob now you are just babbling nonsense...
I am in minneapolis and its pretty crazy how easily you can get dope around here. A lot of black folks come from chicago so im assuming thats where it all comes from.

I have compassion for them, just because I called them losers doesn't mean I don't have compassion for them...what I was pointing out, was the arrogant fear mongering media purposely showing only people that are struggling. I think it's ludicrous that they blame the drug rather than the person for their lack of control and ability to function in society. I appreciate your thought that this might in fact just be an advertisement for a treatment center.

I read an online article a few days ago that talked about "new super potent heroin" in Portland Oregon..and it was tar of course and is not new or super potent..lol...anyway another media hype bullshit story.

I don't think those kids look pathetic at all (as far as junkies go). Shit, their parents still gave them money, they weren't living on the street, they weren't prostituting*, I mean like they still haven't burned all their bridges.

I feel for them, I was basically in the same situation at their age. Still I couldn't help but laugh when the girl was nodding in front of her mom. I got twisted humor but it reminded me of me at thanksgiving 2003 for me when I was trashed on dope in front of my whole family :\

It is fucked up how the media breezed right over WHY the kid said "there was nothing that could have stopped me, I needed to figure out what drugs were like on my own." He needed to figure it out cuz his entire life he was lied to about drugs then one day he got stoned and realized he'd been lied to and thought "ahhh fuck it, that was fun, lets see what else I've been missing out on."

*edit: I only saw the youtube video, so my idea of how fucked they are isn't representative of the whole thing.

It seems a little silly that the video [on the abc site] is sponsored by Astra Zeneca with Seroquel commercials. Perfect marketing, too bad it wasn't Reckitt Benckiser advertising Suboxone gel strips.

peace.
seedless

Lol i can't count how many times ive watched stories on TV either from Canada or the US and i end up seing about 5 commercials for various meds. The seroquel could be useful for withdrawals so not bad timing in this case.

Spot on insight bro! Also found it humorous when he said that the 30 second rush made the whole ordeal to obtain black market heroin "totally worth it."

dude that one blonde girl and that other dude (i think Dylan) have the weakest so called "addiction" to opiates.. The blonde hair girl only took 23 days to totally get clean...im sorry but if your truly addicted to opiates it takes a good 6 months b4 you feel half way normal again..

Watched it yesterday.

Meh. :/ Nothing against the people in it, but the show was rubbish. (And I'm not just talking about his undocumented use of statistics.) Basically the same old song and dance. Non-lower class young white suburbanites getting addicted to heroin. Add in the fact that the show didn't get in-depth with their stories or truly explore treatment possibilities...

I thought the girl was pretty hot. I wouldn't propose to her or anything like that, but she ain't no scalawag.
