Alright I'll make it quick...
1. If GHB prevents the release of dopamine, how is it such a pleasurable drug, seeing dopamine is used for reward and pleasure..
2. If GHB does prevent the release of dopamine.. Then wouldnt it protect against MDMA neurotoxicity? ..If the nuerotoxicity is caused by dopamine oxidation.
THanx!

correct me if im wrong but i believe that it inhibits the reuptake of dopamine. watch the cute illustraition on www.zoloft.com and pretend its talking about dopamine and not seratonin.

hmmm GHB does not work in any way like zoloft!
it is believed GHB actually increases the release of dopamine in low (euphoric) doses and inhibits it on larger (sleep) doses.
then again, GHB does a lot more than just jugglin with dopamine. GABA, prolactin levels and GH levels also play a role on the G feeling.

Didn't we already answer this? Oh well.. GHB's primary mechanisim is at GABA receptor sites, it only has a minor affinity involving DA systems... GHB and Zoloft can't be compared in the LEAST.. they are totally differnt .. you could compare Valium to GHB though..

i ll give it a try to sum up some of the wonderfull aspects of G and i how i think this could work in your body.
the main mechanism on which g specificly works is the stimulation of brain oxytocin neurotransmission. oxytocin is a molecule important 4 sociable states, maternal(?) instinct & maintenance of live. involved in orgasm intensity etc. this is the rappid lift from feelings of depression it brings.
it is also a gaba-b agonist and posseses some dopamin REGULATORY activities. it stores the dopamin (not all of it)for a while and releases when ghb is out of da system.
ghb also has regenarative effects by putting your body in a energy reserve mode by lowering your metabolic rate. a extreme relaxation of muculature. take in account that it leaves the body without creating toxic residue. quite good so far.
here it comes, during normal sleep and moreso during ghb "sleep" neurons quiet down and gliall cells (?) become more active using the penthose shunt, a non oxygen using pathway. ghb powerfully stimulates this.
then there comes some chemistry tail saying ->
penthose->generates NADPH (which repairs damage done by free radicals) & combines with burned up or oxidized GLUTATHIONE regenerating it back to GLUTATHIONE (the fierce scavenger of free radicals and a powerfull antioxidant)which in his or her turn regenerates VITAMINS E & C among others.
far as i think i dont fear xtra neurotoxic damage to occur using G before while or after E. it might even do some good. but thats just my 5 eurocents. anyway i never noticed any negative side effects from the combo. anyone else noticed any. i hope it is of any help silverfucked.

Thanx! Yeha, my 2nd question was whether it prevented damage, but you kinda answerd that one.. I would ask more about pharmacology but i can probably find that elsewhere on the board..
PLUR

i will refrase my words ghb on itself has many benifits. combining it with MDMA might reduce some damage but on the other hand could also create some as much is unknown. especially de dopamin question.
the simple fact is that after E you feel drained and completely fuct. saying that by itself it has enough power to cause damage no matter how good you post/pre-load was.
for me GHB takes away at least some maybe all of the negativ after effects of MDMA. wether or not its healthy as a combo.
have a nice day.

from personal experience, I haven't yet found any drawbacks to the G+E combo...
if taken right before the E, the roll is greatly enhaced and gets REALLY loved up and energetic. if taken after, it brings back some of the rolling feeling.
it's wonderful, really...the only reason I don't do it that often is for fear of increased neurotoxicity.

As I have yet to read anything saying GHB+MDMA is WORSE then MDMA by itself, I find that GHB will GREATLY REDUCE the "ate up" feelings one gets post-roll, same with any benzo... so hey, even if it has no neuro-protective actions, it makes comming down a lot easier!
