Hey folks,
So I am on day two cold turkey and I am not feeling any withdrawal yet.... besides lack of energy, depression, no psychical symptoms yet. If anything I am getting better. I had used short acting opiates for months (2) since I relapsed, and the last four days before I took the plung, I used 40mgs of methadone a day (again, four days).

Am I going to go into withdrawal, am I good? Anyone have any experience with this situation. Honestly, I was looking forward to feeling like shit, sort of a punishment for fucking up. What do you guys think?

Hey Ex.. because of the use of the methadone your withdrawals will likely start around day three.

The half life of methadone is really varied in people. It goes from eight hours up to 150 hours. To find out how long it takes for a drug to be cleared we can get a good approximation from multiplying the half life by six. I think a good approximation for an average half fife for methadone would be 35 hours. So 35 x 6 = 210 hours or about nine days.. then add on three days past that and this would be when I guess you will see the light at the end of the tunnel right around two weeks in.

You can do this.. have you looked into medications to help you detox?

medications for acute opiate detox

The medications I would explore the use of for detox would be:
>Clonidine< DOSED EVER FOUR HOURS..

one of either
>NEURONTIN< >HERE< >HERE<
OR >Lyrica<
OR >phenibut<

>A BENZO BUT JUST AT NIGHT<
>a nsaid<
>melatonin<
tylenol
Senokot S is a stool softener and laxative. If you do not want the laxative you can go for strait stool softenerDioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate.

(Opi Withdrawal) what is the best comfort meds for opiate w/d?

I remember getting a clonodine rx along with promethazine and methocarbomol.

Now I just went to the doctor and straight up said I wanted to kick cold turkey and that is what I got.

It sure made things alot easier to handle.

I hope your path out is easy. <3

Im not saying its for sure.. but the reason im kinda baffled by detox from short acting opiates with methadone and suboxone is that I only see it work well with very small and short habits. This is only my opinion and there have been people that have posted much better experiences.. but over all they were usually small short time habits whose tolerance had not flown the coup. allot of detox comes down to how we think it will be, so expect the best.

The crap of it comes down to the fact that half life does not care how long we took it for.. its just a regular process whose time is dictated by how fast we process the drugs.. doesn't matter in the end that we only took them for a few days. But look on the bright side, every situation is different and I could be talking crazy.. but even if im not you will step down slower.. so it wont all hit hard.

This is good.. cause stepping down slower can allow you to do more things.. do you have any distractions planned.. I kicked a huge habit and it slowed me down, but i never stopped moving.. why sit around and concentrate on how sick we are?

Well that's good to hear, because last time I kicked methadone, I remember feeling it into the end of the 1st day. I think....
I gata go back to work by the end of this week. Guess we'll see what happens.

Day three and nothing yet. Apparently my GF noticed some symptoms last night but I feel pretty ok. BTW: Love Sublime

Edit: To make it clear, she noticed some symptoms on me.... while i was next to her.

She noticed night sweats and twitching, now the gastro but all in all pretty good.
Hope Ill be good to go back to work on Sunday/Monday.

Edit: Thought I'd add, gastro, very minor. If this is it... then I'v been kicking wrong for a long time.

Thanks for checking in! <3

I'v read this from you plenty of times across a lot of posts, and I gata mention that I'm baffled how you managed. I dont have energy (or didint) to go downstairs and make myself a PB and J. I smoke cigs till I cant take it anymore and then find something that takes the least amount of effort. A fucking cup of coffee sounds like a massive job. How you managed to go camping and stuff is beyond me.

Good morning Blue Lighters,

And.... Day 4.
Feeling pretty freaking good. Slight gastro. But thats about it. Mind you I havint missed a nights sleep.
I understand that methadone varies from person to person. But this seemed to work miracles for me.

Have been taking :
Clonodine .1 2x Daily (Better than the transdermal patch in my opinion)
venlaxafine 150mgs 1 x Daily (Depression, but pubmed studies show efficacy in opiate withdrawal)
And yesterday got my hands on some clonozapam 1mg at night.

Day five and amazingly even the gastro is gone. Hung over and burnt from the canoeing and day drinking, but shit, it feels good not to be sick! Wam Bam!
Thanks for all the support and info as always!
