2-CI & Lingering visuals?

I've heard lots of accounts of this. A number of my friends have lingering visuals for weeks or even months after 2-CI. I'm experiencing this. I see eye floaters now and negative after images of only some objects (primarily red or blue ones). The after images disappear in a second or two. I don't think it's HPPD (and I sure hope it isn't) but has anyone else had this happen to them? I've been seeing all this shit for about 9 days now, and I'm wondering how long it will last.
Thanks.

I'm pretty certain it comes down to psychological changes. The floaters were always there you're just learned to notice them, a behavior that can't be unlearnt. The persisting visuals are likely just because on a normal, sober day, you eyes take in information as data and filter it so that you can perceive it. When these filters are removed (when you took 2C-I) your brain realizes there are other ways to see the world. The doors have been opened, so-to-speak.

This happens to most people I know who use psychedelics. You learn how to 'notice' patterns, colors, changes in luminescence, etc...

But my friends say that it goes away in a few weeks. I really don't enjoy it, it's just annoying. And, no offense dude, I wasn't really looking for a philosophical answer like that. I'd like a first-hand account of someone who has had this happen. But thanks for the reply!

Sounds like HPPD, but don't freak out. It happens a lot on these forums, with a whole spectrum of substances. It's only a disorder when you become fixated on it and resolving the problem. You just have to learn to live with it. It "goes away" when it ceases to be a problem for you, which can be weeks, months, or years, depending on how susceptible to controlling your anxiety. If visual distortions are really that much of a problem for you to deal with you should get your vision checked for astigmatism or other lens defects. Abstaining from other drugs (especially cannabis and MDMA) will help to a large extent too.

Eye 'floaters' are normal, just like persistience of vision, seeing negative afterimages with bright colors, halos around high-contrast edges, the background noise your eyes see in complete darkness, etc. You're not an ideal, infallible observer of the world. Moreover, seeing these is not an indication of brain damage. Even totally sober people experience 'tricks of the eye'. Read more about optical illusions and stuff on Wikipedia, it's really quite interesting...

Treatment of HPPD in the medical literature is usually based around anxiety management and therefore I do not recommend any pharmaceutical solution to this issue. Clonazepam has been used to good effect but it is an addicting, controlled substance benzodiazepine with effects of its own.

Snorting 2C-I is first off very painful and secondly a faster method of administering the drug. It will not change the fact it's a potent psychedelic stimulant.

I have had it happen, and thats my first-hand account.

Its a common occurrence amongst users of psychedelics. Its psychological, there will be no hard medical answer.

Thanks sekio. I honestly don't think it's hppd. My friend said it just happens sometimes and it goes away.
ektamine: Did you ever stop seeing floaters? It's just so annoying! I wish more than anything I could stop seeing them.

Also sekio I wear glasses :P lol
I went to an optometrist about my floaters and he said he couldn't see them in the virtuous fluid in my eye. He said he has 2 in his right eye. And it wouldn't bother me at all if I only had a couple floaters but I have around 6. It's just so annoying and it's going to drive me crazy if I have to see them every time I go outside.

Agreed.

I noticed some lingering visuals after the first time I did 2C-I (and this was also the first time I did a psychedelic) but they disappeared after a few weeks.

However, after using LSD, mushrooms and 2C-I/2C-E since then, I can focus on surfaces I looked at while tripping and make them move/breathe/warp, etc. I don't know if this is considered HPPD or not but what other psychedelics have you done?

The funny thing is that lots of 'floaters' are visible to only the person seeing them because they're things like white blood cells floating through the blood vessels which, somewhat counterintuitively, live above your photoreceptors in your retina(!).

Like others have said, you've probably had these all your life, why start worrying about them now?

Yes – I got really tripped out on psychs for a while and almost all of the effects of the drugs I was using started to carry over into daily life. Any time I would look up into a blue sky I would see a bunch of floaters lagging around in my vision. After sobering up from psychedelics for quite some time now, pretty much every thing has faded. I might still see floaters every now and then, I'm not sure, but if I do they don't catch my attention any more like they used to.

Thanks for all the help guys! It really means alot. I'm just going to not use any drugs for a few months.
And that's exactly what happens to me ektamine, every time I look at a blue sky theres 3 or 4 floaters kagging around. This just bums me out the most because I'm a nature-freak of sorts :P haha. But all my other friends that do psychs say they see the same stuff I do and that it goes away when you don't use them for a while. But my main fear is that I will never be able to smoke pot again without bringing the floaters back, even after they go away. I love pot more than any drug I've ever done (which is quite a few haha. I almost have a passion for pot) and I'm scared I'll never be able to enjoy it like I used to.

^ that sounds like a good plan. My advice is to just not worry about it and stick with your plan of doing some clean time, and I would be willing to bet that when you are done it won't even be an issue anymore.

I always got little lingering visual effects after 2C-I, particularly after I took it every weekend for a few weeks in a row.

For me, it manifested mostly as mild visual artifacts in the dark, and at it's worst, with odd effects on patterned surfaces (The kind that look interesting while tripping). In all cases, abstaining from 2C-I and other phenethylamines for a few weeks entirely resolved the lingering visuals. Interestingly enough, it only seems to happen with 2C-I and maybe to a lesses extent, 2C-E. Didn't seem to happen from other psychedelics.

I recently took higher doses (in terms of the strength of effects produced) of 4-HO-MET or LSD every weekend for 3-4 weeks, and had negligible lingering visuals.

The lingering visuals did not bother me, and the issue of lingering visuals does not discourage me from using 2C-I in the future. Any effects on them from smoking marijuana on the strength of these visual artifacts was negligible in my experience. While abstaining from psychedelics (to make sure that these visual artifacts were indeed temporary) i did not stop smoking marijuana.

I've _always_ seen floaters when looking at a smooth grey sky (do some people not see them at all? I assumed everyone did; i first noticed it with grey skies back in elementary school) - you can see them if you look at any smooth field of a single color. They're more noticable after recent psychedelic use, definitely, but you can always see them if you look for them, because they're an artifact of the imperfect human optical system, which one gets accustomed to ignoring.

Thanks TheAzo. I'm definately abstaining from phens.
Does anyone think I will be able to smoke pot in the future without having the floaters come back?

the floaters are always there-- they are a physical phenomenon of little molecules floating in your eye fluid. they are simply more noticeable in bright settings or against a plain background (like the sky)

floaters and afterimages are completely normal, you'll start not noticing them as soon as you don't care about it anymore :)

i've had true lingering visuals from acid (colourful patterns and fucked up depth perception under certain (seldomly occuring) conditions). those things also stayed while i was upset, but faded away to completely normal vison within a few weeks after i stopped caring.

the only advice i can give here, no matter if you are seeing normal phenomena or real visuals, is to accept it and ignore it. stay calm, give it some time and it will go away.

ive seen floaters since i started smoking weed. whats the big deal? if you like tripping acid why u worried about something thats mostly in your head.
